Drew asked Sydney Claridge to Mormon Prom. He had an elaborate plan for asking that included balloons, a poster, a message frozen in a chunk of ice, and a scavenger hunt. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication by the moms, Sydney was home when we showed up with a van full of balloons. He had to adjust slightly, go to plan B and stuff her car instead of her room with balloons. Later that night, a bagpiper showed up at our house to answer. Drew had already gone to bed since he was taking the ACT the next day. There were kinks in the system at every turn, the bagpiper was pulled over on his way to our house. He blasted the bagpipes outside Drew's door for a full minute before Drew woke up and opened it. "Sydney says Yes!" was the message and then he bagpiped Star Wars down the stairs and out the door. It was a fun, crazy night! Danica and Devin never woke up and could hardly believe the video that I showed them the next morning of what they'd slept through.

Purging the light oak
This week I stained the cupboards in the master bathroom. Mom helped me do the upstairs bathroom when she visited. The outdated light oak cupboards throughout the house needed to be redone. I think they turned out really well. The kitchen is the final frontier. I'm still debating what I want those to look like.
Here's the new upstairs bathroom look:
While I was at it, I did a few frames, too.

Family Work Project
After being in a pot about 7 years, we finally planted the satsuma orange tree in the ground. Maybe now it will get bigger. Dave pruned the peach tree and the little kids put the rubbish in the can. I moved my little from-seed lemon tree into a larger pot, and we planted a raspberry bush. We appreciated everyone working together!

Valentines Day
This year for Valentine's day we had crepes with berries and whipped cream for breakfast, tasty! Devin had his fourth grade valentines party. Liam Hackett (the blonde) is his best friend this year. Devin bikes a mile to his house almost every day after school. We had a yummy dinner of bbq chicken sandwiches, and topped it off with cheese cake from the Cheesecake Factory. Dave and I made it to the San Antonio temple on a different day. He got me some chocolates, made me a card, and bought me a bracelet to commemorate running a half marathon this year. Love him!

Sadie Hawkins
Drew went with Kaitlyn Scott to Sadie Hawkins. They had a fun group with James and Sydney, Bennett and Ladina, and Christopher and Mercedes. The pasta that sister Scott made for dinner was apparently amazing since I heard about it for days!

Katy Half Marathon
I ran my first half marathon in Katy. The weather was pretty cold and a bit drizzly, but the rain held off. My time was 2:07. Our friend Kevin Ewing, who has been running these for years, helped pace me and ran it with me. My feet were pretty sore, as was the rest of my body for a few days. But it felt great to accomplish this goal!
We were able to attend one of McKay's soccer games while we were in Katy. He's a senior this year, so that was pretty special to see him play.
The cousins are always grateful for any chance to get together. They had a crepe party.
