So for about a month or two I have been planning a very FUN surprise for Andy and the rest of the family. The week of Christmas I was about 18 weeks along. I asked my Dr. if we could do the 20 week sono a little early, but she said no due to the 20 week sono being for the heart valves and not to find out the sex of the baby. Soooo, I scheduled a "secret" sono at a 3D/4D place a few days before Christmas. I went in on Tuesday and had the sono done. I had to close my eyes for most of it, but I did get to see baby bean a few times. What a cutie! I had them seal up the "results" in an envelope and that night I had my mom and dad babysit for us and I took Andy out for dinner at Fearing's (our favorite). He had no idea what I have even done, so the look on his face was priceless when I pulled out the envelope and told him all about the sono and that the results were inside. It was the best gift ever to open that up together and find out that we are having A BOY!!! Then on ChrisTmas Day, I wrapped up little ornaments for all the family that said "it's a boy" and had them all open them at the same time. I LOVE SURPRISES!!!
When I tell people this will be my 2nd, they ask what the 1st is. I tell them a boy and they say, "oh, I hope this is a girl!". Now don't get me wrong...a girl would be so much fun, but I am thrilled beyond words to be having another little boy. For Parker's sake mainly. I really felt a very strong need for him to have a brother to play with and be best friends with. We are sooooo excited at the White House!!
and besides...I have the best little girls anyone could ask for with Abbie and Anna Claire. I am so lucky that they let me tag along to do girl things with them, like the ballet and shopping.
oh, and shout out to SalPal who is VERY close to popping. Can't wait to see what God has in store for you... girl or boy?? ... I'm guessing girl! :)

The White House Tree...and other stuff
We have been super busy getting the White House ready for Christmas. While it is an old Almquist tradition to go to an actual Christmas Tree Farm (yes, Kim, there is such a thing as a tree farm) every year to pick out our tree, take a picture of us pointing at our tree, dad cutting it down, and dragging it back on the hay ride...we decided that that tradition can wait a few more years to start at the White House. So this year we opted to get our tree (still a real one) at Home Depot...very festive, I know. The only thing was that our only free day to go get it happened to be a day where the high was like 34 or something re-dick like that. So we loaded up in Andy's truck and headed to the 'de-POT.
Mooommm...I don't wanna wear this hat!!!

Bundle of Love all ready to go to the Depot

Choosing the perfect tree

I'll help you decorate Mom!!!

Just kidding...I think the star needs to go in my play room for future use

ok, and these are just a few more fun pics of what we have been up to the past few weeks...
Going to see the Trains at NorthPark with Aunt Jana, Abbie, Anna Clair, Mrs. Shannon, Jack and Calli...P LOVED them. Him and Jack kept running back and forth and then meeting in the middle and jumping up and down while shaking their hands...CRACK FOR KIDS...Parker has been 3 times so far...he will more than likely go a few more times.

A quick trip to the cabin. Please excuse my PJ's here. It was cold, I was sick, so mommy and Noni decided I needed to put on fleece jammies...however, all Noni had were ones for Anna Claire (she's a GIRL)...these have a purple scalloped edge and an angel on them...Hey, I don't care...they were warm!

We will meet Santa on Saturday...I am sure there will be a blog worth photo with that encounter...

A month in review
Keep scrolling after this post...major catch up here.
Thanksgiving came and went. We did not travel anywhere this year, instead we stayed home, went to my moms house with a whole mess of other people, and ate ourselves into expandable pants...it was perfect! We spent the rest of the long weekend doing yard work and things around the house. Like I said before...PERFECT!
Chillaxin on dad's shoulders after my nap...turkey makes me sleepy!

Anna Claire swinging

Abbie having fun in the sand box...bless her heart she got really sick later that afternoon, but at least she was having fun at this time.

Business or Pleasure
The week before Thanksgiving I had to go on a business trip to Florida. Andy had to be there too, as well as my mom and dad...sooooo, that means Parker got to tag along for a fun filled 4 days in sunny Florida. While I was in sales meetings all morning, Andy hung out with little dude. Then, I would run up and change into my swimsuit and meet them by the pool in time for lunch. It was an "ok" trip, seeing how it was mostly business, but at least we got swim some, go on a boat ride, and mom even got a facial (ahhhh).
I will spare you any "getting there" pics. We were those people on the airplane with the 1 year old that would not stop screaming. At one point, P was inconsolable and sobbing, which made mom start to cry. We were a mess!
Hangin' with Hampaw

Taking a private boat ride with mommy and Noni. The nice captain of the boat asked if I wanted to go out with them, and of course I said yes...I had never been on a boat before. We saw lots of big birds!!

Daaaadddd...I'm ready to go to the pool...hurry up!

And what's a trip without a big "ouch". Parker fell and hit the crown molding in our room. Luckily mom was not there at the time. He looked like we beat him with a bat by the time we went home.

Good Nap...
This is how Parker's hair looked when he woke up from his nap yesterday.

And this is last night. Parker woke up really early and then we got our first H1N1 shot yesterday. All in all it was a pretty bad day for both of us, but he totally redeemed himself that night when he snuggled down with dad and watched a little bit of Cars that was on TV. We are soooo going to need to buy this movie. I have never seen anything keep him still for that long. Thank you Lightening McQueen!!

White babies everywhere...
Ok, so I know it is soooo not okay to refer to my little boy and my little bean as "white babies", but I don't really care...I think it is funny.
No pics today...Just wanted to give a quick update on the boy and the bean...
The Bean:
* making me very very very sick. However, it is getting better. Not had to take the Zofran now for 3 days straight.
* Yes, we will find out what the bean is. Hopefully around Christmas or soon after.
* No, I don't care what we have.
* Yes, my clothes are already tight and I am only going into my 12th week.
* Cravings: nothing. I hate food. I hate sweets (very rare). I do want a lot of salad with very bitter / tangy vinegar dressing on it. Just lettuce and dressing...nothing else. Turkey sandwiches with lots of lettuce and tomatoes are my bff. I really HATE food right now. Anything I ate during the first 8 or 9 weeks are on my "do not eat" list for the remainder of my life.
The Boy:
* I so stinking funny. Now that he has learned to walk he is ALL over the place. I do NOT sit down at all during the day. ALL OVER THE PLACE.
* Loves to take my socks out of the drawer and then go over to another drawer and put them in there. This is anything for that matter. I am finding toy cars in with the pots and pans, pictures in with my socks...neat!
* Has to have a toy car in his hand at all times.
* Thinks it is the "most fun" to get as dirty as possible as many times a day as he can. I caught him eating dirt the other day and just laughed. Didn't even try to stop him. Live and learn is my motto (ok, unless it would hurt him people! I am not that bad of a mommy)
* Has just discovered juice boxes. Who knew if you squeezed them all the juice would go squirting everywhere. It's a fun game!
* Learning new words everyday: Done, Down, Bella, ball, Jack (all using his own made up syllables of course). This weekend, Jack the next door neighbor kid was in the back yard and Parker saw him and clear as day said, "HI JACK". Yeah, he has not said it since, but I heard it and Jack's daddy heard it. So there!
Alrighty...that's all for now. Will post pics sooner or later.
Oh, and a quick shout out to sweet Anna Clair (Jana's blog). Thanks for picking up the slack and blogging again. We have missed you guys!!

The Big Surprise
Well, as I stated in my last blog...we have a surprise! Parker is officially walking! He decided to take those long awaited steps a few days before his first birthday. Within a week he has mastered the skill and is ALL over the place.
ok, this pic is really small, but you get the idea.

We went to the doctor for our 1 year checkup. Here's the run down:
* Height - 31" (85%)
* Weight - 27 lb (91%)
* Head - 49.2 (97+%)
At 1 year, Parker can do lots of things...
* Words you say are: truck, duck, momma, dadda, na-na (nonni), and a few others I think you are saying, but not sure (like "ell" for Bella)
* You see a picture of a cow and you make a "moo" sound
* You point at what you want
* You give mommy whatever I ask for
* You imitate the sounds I make
* You make the truck sound when you are playing with your trucks or trains
* You love to read. You will hand me book after book and sit for a very long time listening to me read.
* You are a climber
* You throw major fits when you don't get your way. Mommy ignores you :)
* You take 1 nap a day...you will sleep for around 2 hours.
* Your bed time is 7:00 and you will sleep until 7:00 or 7:30 every morning. I love this!
* You love to make mommy and daddy laugh and you love chasing Bella around the house.
That's about it for our first year...so faithful blog readers I will leave you with this...one last surprise...

Making his/her debut first of June 2010!!!
And the journey at the White House continues...

Sneak Peak
Julie just posted Parker's sneak peak from his 1 year photo session. I think my reaction to his 6 month session said it all, "OH MY GOSH. OH MY GOSH. OH MY GOSH!"...they are seriously wonderful! Thanks Photo Jewels Photography...I HEART YOU!

The Birthday Party
Y'all I don't even know where to begin. The last 2 weeks have been completely crazy! Parker's 1st Birthday Party, his 1st birthday day, me being sick, Andy being sick, family in town, 1 year pictures, doctor appointments...and the list goes on.
Parker's party was so much fun! It was a bit overkill, but I love any excuse to throw a party. The next few bday's will be much more low key.
The cake table

Parker's smash cake (can't get the cake pics to turn so just tilt your head :)

The cake

Rabbits at the petting zoo

Cousins

Digging in to the cake

Happy mom and dad

Happy Parker

Opening up a few presents before the party

Next post...actual birthday, 1 year stats, and a big announcement about walking (ok, did i just ruin the announcement?).

New Kicks
Having a little boy has been great because barefeet go with everything!
However, as Parker gets more and more active and adventurous in exploring, I thought it was high time for a pair of shoes. Since he is not really walking yet (he takes a step here and there), I thought I would wait on a fancy pair of kicks. Instead, I opted for the more "fun" option and went with a pair of wee-sqeaks. Here are a few pics of the first time I put them on Mr. P...I mean, you would have thought I put them on him and then told him they would never come off...seriously...are they that bad dude? We have warmed up to the shoes since these pics were taken and now he loves them. He wears them outside when we play in the yard and is so much more stable with them on.
but really??
