Solarization Variations – eyes of a cat
Starting with this shot taken with an EOS90D, using the Grainy B&W effect, I attempted to create a solarization composition emulating the photography of Man Ray. At age 31, Man Ray would follow Marcel Duchamp to Paris during the summer of 1921, where he was first introduced to the French Dada and Surrealist circles. His “manipulated images are widely considered the origins of Surrealism in photography, existing in an obscure realm between reality and the subconscious.”
I used two different methods, to see which came closer to Man Ray’s style, and as a comparison of technique outcomes.
Using a Chromium Effect
Using an Adjustment Layer – Curves
Both are effective, offering different interpretations of the subject, and creating different moods.
