Convention with Uncle Dan

We had the special privilege to have Dan Sherick at Milltown convention, and an extra special privilege to have him at our house for a night. A very short time, but very very precious!
Am avut privilegiul deosebit sa il avem pe nenea Dan la conferinta, si inca un privilegiu sa il avem la noi acasa o noapte. Foarte scurt timpul, dar foarte foarte pretios...

It was so special to see "Uncle Dan" play with our kids the way he used to play with us when we were little. My sister Ligia was more like these kids' age now, Otilia and me were older (5 and 7 years old when "Nenea Dan" came to Romania 30 years ago) but we all loved to play with him (of course, but luckily, he loved to play with us too) so we have lots of sweet memories. Those years, even if it was under comunism and very difficult, were some of our most special years ever. And it was so touching to hear Dan say the same thing, that those 5 years spent in Romania were his best years in the work.

Ne-am bucurat sa vedem cum nenea Dan s-a jucat cu copiii nostri la fel cum s-a jucat cu noi cand eram mici, acum 30 de ani. Acei ani, chiar daca sub comunism, au fost unii din cei mai frumosi ani ai nostri. Si ce impresionant sa il aud pe nenea Dan zicand acelasi lucru, ca acei 5 ani ai lui in Romania au fost cei mai buni ani ai lui in lucrare.

These pictures and video have such a sentimental meaning, that only the one who is writing these things can understand, and also my dear Romanian family and friends.

Aceste poze au o mare valoare sentimentala, numai autorul (adica autoarea) poate intelege, si bineinteles si familia si prietenii din Romania.

So here is Uncle Dan giving Ligia (my sister) rides on his shoulder 30 years ago. By the way, she was his "girl friend" then, as he used to tell his coleagues at college, so the girls would leave him alone. Of course he never told them how old his girl friend was :-))

Aici Nenea Dan o duce pe Ligia pe umeri, acum 30 de ani. Apropo, Ligia era prietena lui, cum le spunea fetelor la facultate, ca sa il lase in pace. Si bineinteles ca nu le zicea cati ani are prietena lui :-))

Summer, we LOVE you!!!

That day the kids spent 6 -7 hours in the pool/ slide/ meals & snacks at the picnick table... never got tired of it, we needed to make use as much as we can of our short real summer, and actually of our last days of summer.
Copiii au stat 6 -7 ore la joaca in apa, topogan, sau la gustari la masuta lor de afara... parca nu se mai saturau. A trebuit sa beneficiem la maxim de vara noastra scurta, si defapt de ultimile zile de vara.

Water toys, sand toys, even mama's kitchen got in the pool :-)

Jucarii de apa, de nisip, si pana si tacamurile de bucatarie au ajuns in bazin.

The day ended with a very welcome icecream.

Ziua s-a terminat cu o binevenita inghetata.

A Fun Weekend at Chelan

We had the Long family reunion at Leavenworth / Chelan last weekend, and we also made use of the hot summer days.

Jonathan didn't want to go in the water, but at least had fun throwing rocks in the water.
