After the house went pending, we started the long negotiations process with the buyers. Unfortunately, they were super picky after the inspection, and asked us to fix/replace a long list of petty things. We weren't sure if they were going to actually buy the house, or not, during the long negotiation process, so we didn't sell any furniture, or anything. But at least we didn't need to keep the house really clean anymore for showings. We had a closing date of 6/17, which was one day after the school year was going to end! The buyers were in a hurry to get in. That was just crazy talk for us, though, so we negotiated a rentback until 6/23.
Li'l C really got into Garfield books, so the boys would often be found reading in my bed in the mornings before school as I got ready for work...
Mary set a date to go back to Colorado towards the end of May, so we spent as much time hanging out with her as we had time for.
Li'l C has yet to lose a tooth, but he did grow a "Shark Tooth" which we had never experienced with Teo...
On a nice spring evening, we went to this park in Portland that the boys and I have always enjoyed. I realized that taking the boys to the park used to be "my life," as an at-home mom, and yet, I hadn't taken them to the park to play very much during the school year because we were all so busy with work and school. It was an extra special time of connection on this evening at the park. We all enjoyed being youthful, and playing to our hearts' content. :)
Our friends and realtors opened a brokerage in early May, and we went to the Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Afterwards, I took the kids to the First Friday events in Downtown Camas. They had some craft booths for kids.
Mary and I had a nice hike in the Gorge one day before she left to go home.
And, stopped at Edgefield for a drink on the way home...
We also got a new car in May. Our electric car (Lloyd the Leaf) was at the end of its lease, and we would likely have needed to tow it to Seattle, so we leased a new Prius. She's called Priscilla and her colour is sea glass pearl. She's pretty pimpin'.
I said goodbye to my kickass book club, and they sent me away with a gift of a taxidermied mouse fridge magnet, which was perfect as this was the 2nd Jenny Lawson book we read in our club. :)
Since Li'l C wasn't old enough to climb the rock wall at Teo's birthday party (according to the Jim Parsley Center), we promised him that we would take him to The Source, another climbing gym in town, so that he could have a chance to use the belay. He ended up "rock"ing it. Hehe. He climbed all the way to the top of this huge wall. GO C!
Teo did really well too!

I took this photo one day as we were waiting in the Chiropractor's office for my appt. They just struck me as so grown up on this day...sniff!
Li'l C on "Crazy Hair Day" at our school. :)
Teo got this new robe, and he just seemed like such a little man...even more so than usual...
We went up to Seattle one weekend in May to look for houses. We stayed with our friends' Dave and Jen, so the boys got to play with their kids, and they also spent time with our old neighbours, Colton and Octavius, who moved up to Seattle 2 years ago. This was after we had looked at houses, and we went to check out the town of Edmonds, which is very close to Puget Sound.
At the end of May, Mary had left, and the Aunties asked us to come to Saint Helens to stay with them over the long weekend, for Memorial Day. SS and I were stressed to the max - between work and buying/selling a house. The kids were picking up on the stress too, and were not faring too well. Thank goodness for the Aunties! They ended up needing to house/dog-sit for friends of theirs, so we all stayed on a houseboat down on the marina. The weather ended up being fantastic too! The whole weekend was wonderful, and just what we needed to lift our spirits!

This was the houseboat where we were staying! So pretty.
| Teo was brave enough to paddle across to Sand Island by himself... |
We left Saint Helens ready to tackle the last couple of weeks of the school year, and the winding down of selling our house, with gusto. It was as if someone had pressed the re-set button on us. Ahhhhhh, water, sun, fresh air, and good friends. It was good for the soul!
