Well,
Today proved to be interesting. After finally catching the weather correctly in my new home town I was able to knock of the high desert dirt from the Superfly and add some good ol' midwester soil to her frame.
I went to Sugar Bottom today for the first time, and let me tell you this place did not disappoint from the moment my tire hit the trail. This place has the tight turns quick ups, rocks, roots, roots on climbs with mud and three footers...its insane. It rivals any area that I have ridden so far hands down.
After weeks of riding on the road and no rides on the mountain bike, my legs were strong. I was surprised to see how much the road bike has improved my strength and endurance. Some of the harder trails did have there moments and I was bucked once or twice, but it was all in good fun.
Today was a 20 mile day on the MTB. Legs feel good as of now. Tomorrow are going to be intervals on the road bike. So we will see how that goes.
Back to the trails, the only thing that this little gem was missing were the long grueling climbs of the old stomping grounds. For those who have ridden at Bogus, this is just as good in a lot of aspects.
That is all for now, signing off. Bed. Early ride before that Iowa sun cooks the pavement, and me!

not much to report on rest day...
After last two days of training, I am over 100 miles in 2 days, I am making these next two days a time for rest. I will be at work for the next two...will be back on WED and hitting it hard on the road. Weather will be clearing so, a MTB ride is in the plans as well.
I have backed off from the running, just lifting and riding at this point. Going to do some shorter rides this next week with more sprinting. I have been doing the longer rides with more endurance in mind. Time to mix up the training a bit.
Well that is all for now...I will be back in a few days.. 4 wks till the 12 hr race...

40 miles and Apple picking....
Well...after the last note today, Ann and I ventured out to the road. Ann played leap frog with me in the car. She is a natural at the support car. I felt really good on the ride today. Legs strong...rolling hills...Iowa is not flat..for all of you out there that think it is.
The Wilson Orchard in eastern Iowa is awesome! if you have not been check it out. Ann and I had a blast. They have a lot of great stuff.. and the apples are good as well. Two races coming up here in Sept...endurance MTB race and 100 mile road adventure. Keep checking back for up dates!

Some new stuff....
Hello everyone,
Training has been going well, miles building up. Training on the road has been a bit of a change for me. Since last year all I did was ride dirt. Due to the wet summer in IOWA we have had some small windows of riding dirt.
I am posting this link...http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/. This person has some great stuff on his/her blog. check it out!
Also...we have added a new member to the team...more of that to come. later skaters.

3 miles running, 20 miles on bike
Today was a fairly good day as far as training goes. Went from a trail run in the park with the dog. Legs felt pretty good after a two day rest. Then jumped on the bike for a 20 mile road ride. My legs felt a little heavy at the start, but came back as the ride went on. Great tail wind heading east, head wind heading west back into town. I will say this, Iowa has some amazing road riding, the corn fields rolling hills and the amazing farms etc...
Well, lets see the first race for me is not far now. La Crosse WI for the 12 Hr enduro race. Ann will be going (my wife, my very very beautiful wife). She is going be my crew. This is going to be the first test to see if my road training has been helping. Tomorrow is the 60 mile ride that Ann adn I scoped out in the car last week. See how the legs feel in the moring.. So check back and I will let you know how it goes.

Way too Long!!!!!
Okay Everyone,
So, since the last update a lot has changed for the team. The team is still together things are well there, no worries. One of the members now lives in Iowa (me). Training is different. Race agendas have changed.
Good news is that we are going to be racing in Moab again. Possibly with two added members to the team. Very exciting!
Wyatt and Ryan have been racing all season MTB and road. They have been doing very well. (Pics to come of that). With some new things for me and my family, I have just gotten back into riding and training after a few months off.
We will be better about updating now, so please check back often....
