Christmas 2010

We have had a morning filled with laughter, smiles, love and joy. Thankful beyond words...

Image Santa brought an iPod touch.

Image Reid's own clubs for our family golf outings!

Image Gator was trying to figure out what was going on.

Image A custom ordered helmet to ride on Josh's motorcyle...or so he thought!

Image Or he can use that helmet to ride on his very OWN motorcyle! Surprise!! When Reid first saw it, he was in shock. He couldn't believe his eyes and kept asking, "Is that for me?!" We aren't too reckless, it has training wheels to start him out on, but he doesn't plan to leave them on long!

Reid's first time on it, he broke out of the garage and ran straight into the curb across the street. He flung himself off and into the grass. He jumped up and held up his "rocker hands" and said, "THAT WAS AWESOME!" Now I have two boys with toys!

May all your Christmases be merry and bright...

Ice Skating at the River Market

We spent the afternoon in Little Rock at the River Market skating the day away. I adore the fact that the River Market added an outdoor skating rink during the holiday season this year. Reid brought along one of his best friends and they had a blast! We topped it off with some Shotgun Dan's Pizza and it pretty much made for a perfect day.

Christmas came early...

...atleast for Josh it did! Josh recently decided he couldn't live without a motorcycle. I made it absolutely clear that he/we did not need one. But, the more I thought about it and the more I saw how much he truly wanted one, I gave in. So, last weekend, without him knowing, I drove him right down to the Honda place and told him to pick out what he wanted. He was a little shocked and definitely surprised that I would agree to this "adventure." Unfortunatley, he couldn't find just the right "one" here town, but after a little searching, he found it at Honda of Memphis. So, he loaded up yesterday morning and headed out to bring home his Christmas present.

Here she is...

He is on cloud nine! He has started it and just listened to it purr 4 times since he got home last night. I love seeing that smile on his face! Reid is just as in love with it as well and has already requested to be picked up at school on it. Oh, my boys and their toys!

Don't be jealous...

You will be though. You won't be able to help it. I met up with my mom for lunch last Thursday while I was in Little Rock for a conference and she brought me 3 jars of this homemade sweetness...

Plus, she brought Josh multiple jars of this awesomeness...

Image Mama made salsa!

See, I told you. You are jealous. I might consider sharing...but don't count on it.

Thanks, Mom!!

30

As of yesterday, I am officially no longer in my 20's...that's right...I am 30 and believe it or not I am loving every minute of it. I don't miss my 20's...the "growing up," the "living and learning." Now, I am just enjoying. I am soaking up every second that life gives me with the people I love. I'm taking things slower, savoring simple moments, and appreciating where I am in my life. 30 is good!

As I have mentioned before, we have birthday weeks in the Edgin home. My week started off with a bouquet of gorgeous flowers delivered to me at work from my two boys on Monday. Tuesday was followed by this note on my desk with donuts waiting for me when I arrived at work...

Image "To a great wife who deserves the world, but her husband can only afford 2 doughnuts and a drink. Love, Hubby" Yeah, it melted my heart. I pretty much have the best husband in the world.

Wednesday evening Hubby took me out and we enjoyed a cozy little dinner. My wonderful mother-in-law (Mama Ma) got in on the Birthday Week action as well. You see, the majority of my inlaws live out of state and we don't get to see each other near as often as we would like. So, this blog has helped us bond and for them to get to know their daughter in law a little more. She decided to have a theme to this milestone birthday and base the majority of my gifts this year were from my If I were post. So, on Wednesday I received a card with a Sonic gift card so I could get multiple sweet teas that I absolutely adore. You are thinking awesome, aren't you? Just wait...it gets better.

Thursday brought another surprise morning drink from my love and then a bouquet of red gerber daisies from my mother in law and family in Wyoming. The card read, "Day 2 of your special birthday week - a vase of red gerbers because of their sheer beauty and also we know your grandmother would want you to have them on this special year. Don't be sad though, instead celebrate this special milestone by remembering all the funny moments with her. Love from Wyoming."

Image The tears flowed! She was so right and knowing she knew just how much Nanny meant to me was overwhelming. I couldn't thank her enough for including her in this special day.

Friday Josh had a bus full of students sing Happy Birthday to me and then 30, yes 30 balloons arrived at my work from the fam in Wyoming to mark my big day that was approaching and so they could poke fun at the fact I am now sprinting toward that proverbial hill. :)

Image We ended the evening with dinner at Old Chicago Pizza and a little shopping...ahhh...what a day!

Saturday was a relaxing day of college football (another Edgin fave!) and Hubby got my favorite wine (Moscato) to enjoy with dinner. The family in Wyoming surprised again with a Woodwick candle in Honeysuckle scent. It is the scent I would be if I were one and oh the memories that just flood my mind. I truly lose myself in that sweet southern fragrance.

Sunday was the day. Hubby attempted to make my favorite cake (Sock-it-to-Me), but then wax dripped all over it as he was lighting all the candles. A+ for effort though, Babe! Hubby really went all out this birthday and made sure I felt extra special...he is the definition of awesomeness if you didn't already know. Our little family then headed out to see the new movie, Megamind and then went out for pizza. I couldn't ask for a more relaxing birthday with my boys. Mama Ma left my last gift as well which was money to buy a new pair of shoes! Can a girl get any luckier? Every girl loves a new pair of shoes...especially on her birthday! Plus, if you know me, you know I shopped the sales! I found these cuties...

Image

I also received numerous cards and birthday calls, texts and wishes. I want to give a shout out to my parents too who always find the perfect card and allowed me to do a little more shopping! They know me so well! I really was spoiled this year, not only on my birthday but all year long with the love and support I have received from so many.

Image How could a girl not be happy with these two handsome boys in her life? 30 is good!

The things we do for our students...

Today was our awards assembly and I along with a small group of teachers really wanted this year's awards assembly to be different. And oh, it was oh so different! We themed it after the Oscars with a red carpet, cameras, etc. Before all the students received their awards, myself and three other teachers gave a little "performance." Let me present for your enjoyment (because you will laugh your head off at our attempt to dance)...The Wild Winds and the Storm.

I have to say it was a lot of fun and afterall, its for the kids. :)

Falcon Party

Last Thursday was Reid's flag football team party. The Falcons ran amuck in Hog Wild Pizza and celebrated an outstanding season of hard work and fun times. They ate and played until their sweet little hearts were content.

Image Reid played just about every game he could at Hog Wild, but spent the majority of his time on Guitar Hero...he rocked it out!

Congrats, Falcons! We can't wait until next season!

Conference Champs!

Image
I am still beaming with pride. Hubby won his final game of the season last night and clinched the conference title. That's right, they are conference champs! If that wasn't enough, it was the second season in a row he has accomplished this feat. Not only is he an amazing husband, stepdaddy and all around guy...but he is also an unbelievable coach. He truly leads those kids to reach their highest potential as players and young men. He couldn't have two bigger fans than me and Reider.

Congratulations, Babe! We love you!

Mimi and Papi's Visit

Last week Josh's parents came to visit and we made the most of every second while they were here. Reid had his last flag football game, Josh got another win, we spent the day at the pumpkin patch/corn maze, grilled out, shopped a little in Little Rock, and met up with my parents for some great BBQ! We were so glad Mimi and Papi came down...we are missing them already!

Our Weekend

We had an absolutely fabulous weekend. Friday night, Hubby and I had a sweet date to Italian Gardens, then we came home and crashed early. We both really needed some rest and a good night's sleep. Saturday we slept in until 9 which was bliss! Then we headed out for our day of "Golf Extravaganza" as Hubby referred to it all day. We played about 27 holes of golf and loved every. single. minute. We were 2 of about 6 golfers at Chamberlyne CC and soaked up the solitude and just focused on being together. Pure awesomeness.

Sunday was my crafty day. I had seen a lot of the chalkboard menus on various blogs and knew I wanted one for our kitchen. It would keep us organized and well, they are just too darn cute not to have one. So, here is our version...

Image

ImageDon't judge me. We have a crazy, hectic week this week, so we have a lot of "sandwich" type meals planned that are quick.

And lastly, I saw a creative little Halloween bucket on a blog the other day, so I decided to alter it just a bit and make one for our main man, Reid. I laminated the Halloween paper incase it rains and I also added black/green ribbon to the handle to spruce the plain white up a bit. The final product...

We have a fun week up ahead. Josh's parents fly in on Wednesday and we have 3 football games, Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze, Haunted House, grilling out, meeting up with my parents and a lot more planned. We can't wait!
