A new way to manage outdoor equipment rentals
Valet started the way many great ideas do – from frustration with the status quo. While running his successful bike shop, Seth kept bumping into the same problems with existing rental software. Sean, with his software engineering background, recognized that the solution wasn’t adding more features to broken systems – it was rebuilding from the ground up with modern technology and a fresh perspective.
We spent our first season developing and testing in a real rental environment. This hands-on approach helped us focus on getting the basics right. Existing solutions have overlooked the basics in a rush to add features or treat rental software like a byproduct of the tour industry. By building on a solid foundation of core functionality, we’re now implementing the exciting features we’ve always wished existed in rental software. We believe rental operations shouldn’t have to adapt to their software – their software should adapt to them.

Hi, I’m Sean! I’m an entrepreneur and software engineer. I’ve led software teams and developed products from large scale enterprise to small scale startups. I’ve developed large asset management systems, billing and procurement systems, and intricate inspection systems.
I’m a big fan of the outdoors, and I love to backcountry ski, trail run, and gravel bike. Starting Valet was a great way to combine my love of the outdoors with my passion for software. I enjoy working with outfitters who have a deep understanding of their business to improve their operations and grow their business.
I call San Diego home after years in Colorado, but get to Mammoth Mountain often.

I am a Co-Founder and the Chief Operating Officer of Valet Rentals, where I help outfitters streamline operations and improve efficiency through innovative software solutions. With over 25 years in the bicycle industry, I have built a proven record of operational success and developed deep expertise in rental fleet management. My career has spanned every role in a bicycle shop—from assistant to owner, pro team mechanic to frame builder—giving me a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities faced by outfitters. I also continue to operate a thriving bicycle shop with a large rental fleet in a popular tourist destination on the West Coast. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and am certified across every professional bicycle discipline.
