why?
Aiden does this to her daily. It always involves a blanket or two (or five) and whatever else is readily available. For some reason, he thinks it is hilarious to bury her under things. ANYthing. He thinks that she thinks it's funny too. I think it's her own fault, in some ways, because she puts up with it for so long. She loves to play with him so much, she'll look past a lot of things before finally paniking, but by then it's too late. She's stuck by that point. If you can't tell from the picture below, Capri is under all of that. If I zoom in on the photo, I can see her pleading eyes looking out one of the holes of the laundry basket, begging me (Kenny took the picture, so really she was begging him) to help her.
Poor baby. It's going to be a long long life ahead.

and here is the proof
that mine are the most beautiful children in the world.

I would die for his eyelashes. Our amazing, talented neighbor Jessica Jewkes took these amazing photos. If you live in my area, I highly recommend her for all your photography needs.
she used to be so small
Remember this little tiny 6 pound thing in the big green bowl?
With the gigantic flower atop her head??
her little head back then, is now just a little decoration on her big ole head.

our zoo
It really can't be disputed. We clearly are pet people. It started with our ferrets. Meet Abbie and Zoie.

Then, when we moved to a home that had a backyard, we went ahead and got our Toby dog. He's still here, living it up in our back yard.
And lastly, the bunnies. My dad has tons of them. Literally. And they keep having babies. This last time that we went to Moab, there were tiny little baby bunnies, and I couldn't resist bringing two of them home. You see, I'm a sucker for little tiny fluffy things. And bunnies? Oh, I love bunnies. I had them frequently growing up.
These little guys are the newest members of the zoo that lives in and around our home. We may take them back to Moab after they get big, after all, my dad runs a "perpetual youth" guarantee, and a "no questions asked return policy". For now though, they have a nice little home in our garage with lots of grass and flowers to eat. Aiden decided they needed to have scary names, so the white one is Sharp Tooth (like on Land Before Time), and the gray one is Bruce (the "scary" shark on Nemo).

That's right, we had ferrets. Plural. Two of them. That's something we don't talk about much, because you don't really want to be known as someone who once had ferrets, but we did. Anyway, it was right around the time we found out we couldn't have kids, and we were floundering a little. So, we got a couple ferrets. Get over it. (By the way, we no longer have them. Just in case you were wondering.)
Then, when we moved to a home that had a backyard, we went ahead and got our Toby dog. He's still here, living it up in our back yard. And then, for his birthday I think, Aiden's aunt Brittney gave him a beta fish, who Aiden named Thomas. I don't have a picture of him, but he is prominently displayed on our mantle in the kitchen in a decorative glass bowl. We've grown fond of him, and we even remember to feed him sometimes.

fun times in the sand

This has nothing to do with the rest of the post...but we have an official crawler at our house! I wasn't really anxious for her to become mobile (she's been mobile, just using rolling and scooting and arm-dragging to get herself around), we were just wondering when it would happen. She's very lazy.

Incidentally, we were in Moab for the weekend, and the weather was so nice we headed out to the sand dunes to play in the dirt and have a pizza picnic.

Sometimes we used sleds to get down the hill.
Sometimes we just slid down with whatever we had available.

Kenny wanted to bury Aiden in the sand. You know, normal people think that's fun. Aiden was nervous about it, but willingly got in the hole and let daddy start covering his feet first. He was mostly covered, when some sand blew into his face, and he flipped out. He finally settled down when we got him out.

an escapade

This was a couple weeks ago... My parents came to visit for a couple of days, so we got together with them, and Kyle and his kids, and hung out. It was rainy most of the day, but there was a little bit of time between when the rain stopped, and when it got dark. So, we went on a little adventure up this gorgeous little canyon right by Kyle's house.
It was kinda cold, but we had fun!
This is Porter. He was pointing at something. I never did figure out what.
And Aiden, of course. He walked pretty much the whole time...a miracle. When Gramma is around, he usually likes to be carried.
He's handsome.
And this...
...is Bridger. He has an unconventional way of hiking. Instead of simply walking down this rock, like the rest of us did, he saw an opportunity to slide. Not only did he slide down the muddy rock, he slid face first on his belly. And in doing so, coated his whole front in mud. He's such a cutie!
And lastly, this little face. She was a trooper. We had her bundled up in a blanket, which she's not super fond of, but she was warm and happy. Lately most of my pictures of her have her tongue sticking out like this. She's so funny. We had so much fun.

Heaven help me.
The boy had SO much energy.
It didn't really work.
Oh, I love them.
