Emerson 5 Months Old

Emerson is 5 months old! She is still a very happy, laid back baby. The biggest change that has taken place this month is that is no longer sleeping swaddled! I mentioned I had tried her a couple of times in the Magical Merlin Sleepsuit for naps and she didn't seem to sleep any better in it. Well folks let me just say...the suit really is magic. Emerson loves it! Now she isn't sleeping all night but she sleeps very soundly in the suit and usually only wakes up once.

She is very close to sitting up on her own and I plan to start her on solids in a few weeks. She doesn't really have a big appetite but I want to start her before her 6 month appointment in case I have any questions or concerns that I need the doctor to answer.

She does ok at school but not great. I always say Emerson rarely cries and is so laid back because at home that is true. However, her teachers at school have nicknamed her "Boss." They say that she gets upset if she isn't being held and that she basically runs the baby room! They say Mondays are the worst since she has been at home with us all weekend but as the week goes she gets better. I'm really hoping she adapts quickly because she has to go the school! Her teachers are great and I know that love on her so I'm not concerned with her being well taken care of but I don't want her to be upset while she is there!

I'm convinced she will be getting teeth soon. She is gnawing on EVERYTHING!

Emerson, we love you so much and despite what they say at school, I still consider you to be my easy going, super chill Love Bug! Happy 5 Months!

Easter 2017

Easter this year was very fun. We started off with the kid's annual Easter Egg hunts and parties at school. I went to Holt's hunt and my mom went to Ellington's since I can't be in two places at once and they were at the same time but in different locations at the school. Holt's hunt took forever because each kid had to find 12 eggs that had their name on it. There are 6 classes of 4 &5 year olds so you can imagine the chaos. Thankfully, Holt was able to find all of his and posed for a class picture below. Ellington's class was free for all but the teachers collected everyone's basket at the end to ensure that all the kids went home with the same amount of eggs.

The Saturday before Easter we headed to the club to participate in another hunt, bouncy houses, face painting, train rides, Easter Bunny, etc. The hunt was the quickest hunt I have ever seen and my sweet little Ellington only got one egg. Thankfully Holt was willing to share. Both Holt and Ellington enjoyed all the fun at the club but Ellington was weary of the Easter Bunny. Holt on the other hand was all about him. In fact, the bunny joined Holt on a train ride and engaged in a sword fight!

Easter morning we awoke to goodies from the Easter Bunny and got dressed in our Sunday finest for church. After church we went over to my parent's house for lunch and one last Easter hunt. It was just Holt, Ellington, and Chandler and the kids had a ball!

Emerson 4 Months Old

Sooo delayed in posting this but our sweet Emerson is 4 months old! The biggest event that happened during this time is Emerson started school with Holt and Ellington. She started the day I went back to work and I was very nervous because she was not the best bottle taker. Of course, I was worried for no reason because Emerson has adjusted just fine to school. It took her about 2 weeks to really get in the swing of things. She had a few days of tears, not eating well, and not napping but she seems to be in a good groove these days. She still doesn't nap great at school but she appears happy and is sleeping pretty well at night so I'll take it!

I put her in the jumper a couple of times and she really likes it. She is so chill and just hangs out in it watching her big brother and sister. The girl loves so TV. I realize this is frowned upon but I really don't care...when she gets upset I can turn on Mickey Mouse and she calms right down. Anything to keep our baby happy!

Like I said above, she is sleeping pretty well. Since I am writing this late, there has been some changes to her sleeping conditions and patterns but I will save those details for the next month update (trying to keep her timeline straight).

Emerson received a clean bill of health at her 4 month checkup along with some shots. She did spike a slight fever after this go around but nothing that a little Tylenol couldn't fix. Her stats are below. My suspicions were validated at this checkup. They measured her height completely wrong at her last checkup.

Height: 23.8 inches (25th)
Weight: 14 lbs (50th%)
Head Circumference: 16.2 inches (75th%)

Emerson, we love your laid back demeanor and your happy spirit. Happy 4 months sweet girl!!! We love you!!!

Emerson's Dedication

We dedicated Emerson to our Lord and Savior on Sunday. It was a great day surrounded by loved ones. We chose Matthew 5:14-16 for Emerson's life verse. " Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Originally, I planned to have brunch at our house but after the busy couple of weeks we have had, I decided to have lunch at the club. It will irritate me always that her invitation says brunch at our home but I'll just have to live with it. It is what it is. I'm so glad we went with the club. They put us in the Library room and made it so easy on me. The food was great and we were all able to relax and enjoy this special day.

Emerson, we are so grateful to God for choosing us to be your parents. You have truly been a bright light for our family. We pray that you will come to know Jesus at a young age and that you will exude His love in all that you say and do. God bless you dear child. We love you so much!
