Emma did really well with her surgery. We ended up getting bumped up to 4pm because of a cancellation. It is amazing how well everything fell into place. Emma was really brave and didn't seem scared at all. She drank her laughing juice and then fifteen minutes later they wheeled her away for her surgery. Mom was very nervous about the whole anesthesia thing. The doctor came out and told us everything went well. She needed three external pins to stabalize her bones so everything could heal right. She was lucky to not have to be cut open. She is in a soft cast for right now. It took a while for us to be able to go back and see Emma. It wasn't fun to watch her all groggy. She didn't have any bad effects from the anesthetic. We got to take her home that night as well. When we got her home she was wide awake and ready to actually eat. She and mom watched High School Musical 2 while mom shoveled macaroni and cheese and ice chips into her. Lucky girl! Now three days later, Emma is happy and doing well. Now she just wonders when she gets to play with friends.

What a Day!
This has been a day from you know where! Joshua had a football scrimmage last night and Emma, Caleb and I went to watch some of it before it ended. There was a zigzagy wooden thing by where we were sitting. Imagine a 2 ft high balance beam. Emma was walking around on that when she fell off right onto her arm. She couldn't move it and it hurt her really bad. After getting her home we iced her arm really good. We luckily got into the doctor first thing this morning. So after the doctors exam and x-rays...we have a fractured humorus. After visiting with the orthopedic surgeon we find out that the bones have shifted and Emma needs to have surgery tonight to get one internal pin and two external pins to keep everything in place to heal. So we go in at six and have the surgery at eight. Emma has to spend the night in the hospital as well. My worst case going into all of this was that her arm was indeed broken and she just needed it casted. NOT surgery! Keep us in your prayers.

Josh's 1st Game
Joshua had his first game this passed Saturday. It was really fun to watch. He played first string defense and also got to play some offense. He played defensive tackle. He got into the QB quite a few times. He was pumped! Oh...he's number 63. By the way...we lost two touchdowns to none. Oh well! Maybe next time.

First Day of Preschool
Yesterday was the first day of preschool...finally! Caleb was so excited! There are lots of new friends for him to get to know and still some old ones that he enjoyed seeing again. This is going to be an exciting year getting Caleb ready for Kindergarten next year. He is such a smarty...he'll do great!

Arrow of Light
A week ago Scott got awarded his Arrow of Light. For those of you not familiar with Cub Scouting, it is the highest award that can be given as a Cub Scout. This is also the only award that will transfer onto his Boys Scout uniform. Scott's Webelo leader did such a nice job with the ceremony. He even got his very own arrow (which Caleb broke the second we got home)! We are really proud of him for all the hard work that he put into getting this award!
Canning Galore
This is just some of the canning that I have been doing. This is the first year that I have canned green beans, relish and freezer peach jam. It's been a lot of fun. We got tons of corn on the cob from Bob and I have just finished getting that ready to freeze. I have three ice cream buckets of tomatoes that are just waiting to become sauce. It's so fun to have a garden, be able to watch things grow and be able to can and eat the things that are grown. A lot of work though!
Puppies First Meal & Update
Oh my gosh...these little puppies are piggies! They are four weeks old now and so darn cute! Mom is already attached to one and has named him Bruiser. We heated up some milk for them and added a little oatmeal. It did not last long, they had it gulped up so fast! Poor things had bad gas bubbles afterwards. They are really starting to move around and play a bunch. It's fun to watch them.
