Hi there- I'm running into an error I can't seem to resolve. For a little context, I'm on Windows 10 running LaunchBox 13.24 and I've got my ROMs sitting on an external HD in their own folders (e.g. R:\Arcade\Sega Genesis\roms) outside of the LaunchBox directory (which is on the same external HD, R:\Arcade\LaunchBox), and have imported all of my ROMs in the same way using Tools>Import>ROM Files>Single Platform. Arcade ROMs are running on MAME, and console ROMs are running on RetroArch. Here's my problem: I click the "More Options" (3 dots) menu below a ROM (for example in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System platform), then click "Configure", and I receive an "An error occurred while trying to launch the game: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error. I've tried Tools>Download>Force Update Games Database Metadata to no avail. I can play the ROMs just fine, so this isn't a critical error, just something I stumbled upon and found strange considering everything else works as expected, as far as I can tell. Something else I don't understand is that for certain platforms, e.g. Sega Genesis, clicking the 3 dots menu on a ROM only gives the option to "Delete" and doesn't have the "Configure" option at all. TIA to anyone who can shed any light on this.

I keep running into an error whenever I try to remove an image for a game or a playlist directly in LaunchBox. I’ve already tried reinstalling LaunchBox, but the issue persists. I confirmed I don’t have another instance of LaunchBox running. This problem didn’t exist before—I used to be able to remove images without any issues. I think it may have started after a previous crash when images were in the middle of downloading during a game import (though I don’t remember exactly what the crash was). I’ve noticed the error seems to happen specifically when I’m trying to remove an image that is currently being displayed in the editor (e.g., the logo of the game I’m editing or the fanart of the playlist I’m editing). Error Message: Could not delete file "C:\Games\Launchbox\Images\Playlists\Darksiders\Fanart\Darksiders.png": The process cannot access the file 'C:\Games\Launchbox\Images\Playlists\Darksiders\Fanart\Darksiders.png' because it is being used by another process. Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everybody, When I click "manage themes" in BigBox, I get this error: This happens frequently so I don't think it is an issue with my internet. I think this may be to do with when I installed Launchbox, I did have a launchbox/launchbox folder setup. After finding out this caused issues, I copied everything from launchbox/launchbox and moved it to /launchbox and then deleted launchbox/launchbox. Should I run the "Launchbox - 13.17 - setup.exe" again, making sure my filepath is not launchbox/launchbox? Will this fix the issue? You can't change the filepath of where launchbox.exe is, or can you? So I assume reinstalling will fix without overwriting games, themes etc? More info: I have nothing in my updates folder either. I am not sure if this is normal since I just installed 2 days ago, all of my games work fine. Thank you for any advice, Peter

Hi friends! I have a big problem. When I try to change the title of a game by right-clicking on the game's name in the list of games, selecting 'Edit - Edit Metadata - Media,' changing anything in the 'Title' field, and clicking OK, the game is erased from the list. It’s as simple as that. I have LaunchBox/Big Box updated to the latest version, and I am using Windows 10. Please help me. -
Hello, I had this working on v11 way back but hadn't used launchbox/bigbox in a while. it prompted me for a few updates and updated to v13.15 but then when trying to launch psp games using ppsspp v1.7.1 it will open up ppsspp and say "could not load game. error reading file". I know the games work because i can open them directly from the standalone emulator, but i cant open them from launchbox or big box. i updated the emulator to v1.17.1 and now it just launches into a black screen. i tried changing the graphics backend on ppsspp to dx11 and opengl and it works on standalone, just not with launchbox/bigbox. Troubleshooting attempts: -deleted the games from the sony psp side menu and re-imported them from their folder and that did nothing. -checked that the file path for the emulator was looking where the games are -checked the file path for the emulator itself was correct At this point i am out of ideas.

Hi all. I'm experiencing an issue with the latest version of Big Box (13.11) on my Windows 11 machine . After updating to this version, Big Box fires up with no problems and I can scroll/launch games without issue. However, Big Box will lock up and freeze every time I try to access Big Box settings (by pressing ESC from the Big Box main menu). I then have to close Big Box from the Win 11 taskbar AND wipe it from the task manager in order to relaunch the program. Is this a known issue with this version of Big Box? I'd provide a log but I don't get an error message...just a frozen screen. I reinstalled version 13.11 and 13.10 from the Update folder and the issue still persists. Thanks!

Just as the title says, I started getting this error after I imported a new platform, the games do launch with retroarch but launchbox crashes. Any ideas?

Just transfered entire setup from 1 pc to the new gaming rig. Yo it keeps saying I need to download. Net core to start lb. And when I select yes nothing happens. So I went to site to download it manually still get same thing.

Hi guys, i love LaunchBox and Bigbox. They are parts of my life now! I find a very boring bug in BigBox. Maybe it's easy to fix-it. I'm using refried theme in BigBox and in General Setting i try to show ONLY games with video so i click on "Hidden games without video" and i wait so much because i have a lot of games. It's perfect! And works great! But the problem is that if i go another time in the same menu options i check always the normal flag and not blue as it would be must. So seems that is deactivated but is active and i don't see other games without video in list. I try to click another time for to activate "Hidden games without video" and i wait another loading, and the same, i see only games with video. How to fix this problem now ??? How to see all my list games in BigBox?? Maybe there are problems on "Hidden games without box or without logo" i don't know because i don't want risk. Please help me to fix this issue. Getting this error when importing a full MAME set (.249). This is on version 12.16. Launchbox won't even let me import this set at all. Tried multiple times. Debug logs attached. Debug 2022-10-28 09-07-26 PM.log

Hello I received the following error message when trying to import Epic games... This comes after I have entered code from authenticator app. I tried a few times to ensure code was correct, but issue persist. How can I fix this please? Thank you

I get a notification in BigBox every time it plays an MP3 file (audio) for a game as I scroll. The audio plays fine, and if I escape the error, the music continues to play fine. As far as I can tell, nothing is "wrong". But, the error ruins the couch experience quite a bit. Is there a way to hide this error vs fixing it? And/Or any ideas on possible fixes? Need more Information? PS: Not sure if this is were I should post, I don't think its a "BigBox" error, its somehow related to the custom theme I think, but I posted here, let me know if it should be moved/posted elsewhere. Can't log into xbox account to import games, BLANK SCREEN

This is extremely frustrating. It does the same thing with Epic, but if I click around for a while I'm able to make it work with Epic, but I've been trying to import Microsoft games for 30 minutes with no luck, just a blank screen. What am I supposed to do here? Can someone help me please?

I was adding some steam games last night and one of them kept giving me the error "Could not import game "": An item with the same key has already been added. " The game was Nights of Azure 2, and I did have the previous game, but I didn't have the game already synced. I'm not sure what is causing it, or what to do to fix it. I found kind of a work around by just adding it manually and directing it to the link in the steam file, but that is not a very clean solution as the steam menu pops up and then the game screen is tiny unlike the others that open full screen, and the screen that pops up asks me if i want to start the game, as in start the booting into the game process, this is very clunky and annoying, but it's the best I could do. I'm hoping that someone can help me fix this problem and get it working correctly, or if i will just keep getting this era every time i sync a new steam game, unless i scroll through and uncheck it. any help would be very much appreciated. ?

Greetings. I'm using version 11.11 and 11.12 of Launchbox, but still having trouble updating metadata and media for close to a month now. I have a lifetime membership of Launchbox and lifetime membership of Emumovies, but as my picture above, I'm currently downloading 23,280 files but they've all timed out. This had happened countless times and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything including using the beta version, but the result has been similar - they all timed out. How do I fix this problem, as I have yet another batch of 116,000 games to update, but can't even do an update of my first 30,266 games. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Win10 / intel 5 internal gpu / 8 gb ram / ssd 500gb / 2 tb support drive latest drivers (I think). Off line brand new dedicated EMULATOR PC for an arcade cab. Hey So having a rough day as after a week of setting up LAUNCH BOX , the software has started to lose all my games platform by platform, randomly with no reason or rhyme. I have set up many platforms using different emulators and everything works perfectly but...1 by 1 my days of work is being deleted and when I used system restore it does nothing. I am losing entire games and all their images. But only in LB not on the drive. I keep reinstalling entire sets which take like an hour or more to install but then they vanish after ive installed something else or restarted. And not always all the games...it's all so random. I think it is even deleting in real time while im using the software. I have no idea why any of this is happening but it is ruining my plan to build an arcade machine for my family haha Please help if you can as this is very serious to me after so much hard work and effort. Thank you for your help in advance

NEW win 10 intel 5 8 gb ram 500 gb ssd internal gpu hello so my singe 2.00 / daphne games randly crash as they progress. Crashes to desktop closing the software entirely. A good example for anyone to test is - play mad dog 1 and progress to the choose a location menu and choose anyone then play and it will crash every time in those 4 areas. No idea if this is a time played problem or specific to those areas but it prevents progress. I am building an arcade for family and this game is the most important so I hope for it to work perfectly within reason. Ive googled this but its old tech. Does anyone use these lazer disc games and if so any issues? thanks for any help.

Been using launchbox consistently for the past 2 weeks until today, it immediately prompts Launchbox.exe- Application Error - The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x00007ffd82603B29, reinstalled and restarted computer, still no luck
