Noob here. I'm doing pretty good with everything. Except.... When I try to load a game up in launchbox using duckstation (PS1) I get the following error... "Failed to load CD image 'Driver.chd' :[13]: Permission denied" But when I open just Duckstation, the games load up without problems or issues. It's only when I go from Launchbox. Any thoughts or suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Summary Within LaunchBox, launching a compressed zip game, which opened RetroArch, was very slow (40+ seconds). I discovered that I had two file protection services on: my normal Eset Smart Security (antivirus) and NordVPN with its File protection option turned on. Turning off NordVPN File protection made things run smoothly again. I'm hoping this information will save others time. Side issue I later noticed that just copying zip files among various different SSDs was very slow (would calculate for many seconds and then cap out around 550 Kb/s), but copying other file types (like large video files) was nearly instantaneous. Troubleshooting I'm on LaunchBox 13.14. For debugging purposes, I turned on logging: Tools > Options > General > Debugging > Enable Debug Logs check box. In the log files, I confirmed that the time between trying to launch a game and having the zip finish extracting was in the tens of seconds. Ignore this kind of error. It's apparently a Microsoft Windows benign error per this thread: "Options taking forever to open on LB & BB 13.6" https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/75266-options-taking-forever-to-open-on-lb-bb-136 2024-06-23 12:22:18 AM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: Could not load file or assembly 'F:\LaunchBox\Core\Unbroken.LaunchBox.Windows.XmlSerializers.dll'. The system cannot find the file specified. at System.Runtime.Loader.AssemblyLoadContext.LoadFromPath(IntPtr ptrNativeAssemblyLoadContext, String ilPath, String niPath, ObjectHandleOnStack retAssembly) I then saw this issue regarding 7-Zip. 2024-06-23 12:23:53 AM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: Could not find file 'F:\LaunchBox\ThirdParty\7-Zip\Temp\link'. at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.CreateFile(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options) I went to <LaunchBox directory>\Plugins and moved the ArchiveCacheManager folder out in case that was causing issues. That didn't fix the issue, so I moved it back. I went to Tools > Manage > Emulators to open Retroarch settings. I unchecked the "Extract ROM archives before running" check box. (I can't remember why I normally have this checked. Perhaps it's because some cores don't support compressed files, or perhaps I have a mixture of zip and 7z files, or perhaps some later-generation consoles for CD games require extraction.) Anyway, unchecking the box made things perform correctly. I was ready to be content with that. Later on, I was testing out copying around 20 of the zipped ROM files from one directory to another (across different SSDs) for backup purposes. I noticed that Windows copied the files very slowly. I restarted the computer in safe mode and no longer had the slowness. Back in normal mode, the slowness occurred again. (Sometimes the zip files would copy super fast as expected, but most of the time they would be slow and I'd cancel out. The occasional fast copy was probably just a fluke.) Given that safe mode disables most applications, I figured I should check my antivirus settings. In Eset Smart Security, I went to Setup > Advanced Setup > Cloud-based protection. Toggling off Enable ESET LiveGuard didn't fix my issue. I found this post: "Eset slowing down windows 10 copy/paste to a crawl" https://forum.eset.com/topic/39788-eset-slowing-down-windows-10-copypaste-to-a-crawl/ That was the answer. Turning off NordVPN File protection fixed the zip file copying and thus also the LaunchBox slowness. (I was able to recheck the "Extract ROM archives before running" check box to turn that back on.)

Yes, I've searched the forums for this issue already. Yes, I've reset my API key on RetroAchievements website, updated that into LB, and rescanned. Yes, retroachievements are showing up properly in RetroArch for the other games and systems that I have checked. Seem to show and even unlock on the games I took the time to try. I just can't seem to get Launchbox to link retroachievements to any system outside of the NES. Badges and achievements list on the sidebar, for the NES, are showing just fine. But its like Launchbox thinks they don't exist for any other systems. Achievement badges aren't showing up despite the option being checked and achievements aren't showing up in the list on the sidebar. Anyone else having this issue? Possible fixes? Thank you in advance.

Okay. Going into details. Warning: I am a noob, when it comes to games and emulators. I managed to get the N64 (using N64Plus FZ), Amiga, and C64 (both using RetroArch) I use all on my Google TV box (MECOOL KM7) and they work perfectly. But, when I try duckstation for PS1 games and MD.emu for GBA neither work through launchbox. MD.emu seems too try to load, but goes black. When I try to use Duckstation, I get an error saying "Failed to load CD image 'Driver.chd': [13]: Permission denied" but everything works great on my cellphone. I test everything on my phone first before transferring to my Android Google TV box. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So I had mame running perfectly but then I used the Bezelproject installer (windows) to see what the hubbub about bezels was. Admittedly they are cool however, after running 1-2 games I am now get the error "mame unable to create the direct3d device (88760868)" after installing them? It doesn't matter if I launch them through Launchbox or independently either, I get the same result. I tried doing a fresh install of mame 0.240b through launchbox and from the actual installer from mamedev (the version I was running before hand) and the problem persists. All the info about this error seems to be 3-6 years old but I haven't sifted through enough old forums to figure out a solution yet so I figured I'd ask here. I've un-enabled the bezels through the bezelproject program and then uninstalled it (which still left some files in its install directory -_-) . I'm was still getting the error from all three installs of mame (so I deleted all three and tried one last time to do a fresh install which didn't work out). Any advice on how to save my arcade setup without nuking it and starting from scratch?

I have spent 2 hours trying to find a straightforward answer and step by step guide to adding Background music to Launchbox. As installed, there is a music folder within Launchbox folder. The forums say to add a background folder, then another platform folder, then finally the platform folder that contains the mp3 files. I have tried all different ways to get this thing to work with no luck. I simply want random music to play in background while I make a game selection, to resume after I'm done with game. There is no tutorial, just posts with different ideas and problems. As of now I have the free version. Is this the problem? Please, some clear, concise help would be appreciated.

Hello LaunchBox Community, I am having a problem with the installation of an MS-DOS game called Fallout into LaunchBox. The problem, from what I can tell, is due to DosBox's emulated C: drive not having enough space to install the largest install of the game. It appears that the default disk space is around 260mb where the largest install for the game is around 645mb. I know there are ways to fix this by using DosBox manually, however I could not find a way to expand the disk space while using DosBox through LaunchBox. I have attached a screenshot of the DOS installer showing the "No Drives Available" error when the "HUMONGOUS INSTALLATION" is selected. Any help or advice is be appreciated. Thank You

Hi everyone, I am a complete computer and arcade newbie and am having issues installing MAME onto my Launchbox. I get to the install screen (image 1). I click 'OK' then I get to the emulator screen and click "Close" but the emulator doesn't show up. Am i doing something wrong? Also when I try to add a ROM to launchbox nothing shows up either, it doesn't read the zip file. Can someone help me out or link me to a tutorial for loading MAME. I watched the launchbox video for mame but it doesnt tell me how to install the emulator.
