Rescue Days - in Norderstedt

Image

From October 9th to 11th Norderstedt staged the biggest event for technical rescue activities for firefighters worldwide.
and other tests. These are the first cars being produced after inventing a new model.
A big attraction for all the visi-tors is the car switch at stations number 11 and 12 where the cut open cars are being re-placed. A forklift truck lifts them up on 7m height and drops them onto a highwaybar-rier. This for sure is also excit-ing for the participants.

The Weber company, the leading company for hydraulic rescue tools, which organised the three-day RESCUE DAYS expected around 500 active participants from over 23 nations worldwide and roughly 15.000 spectators.
We welcome people from all over the world as there are many from Germany and a lot from Europe. But we also welcome many teams from other conti-nents as Abu Dhabi, Brazil, Chile, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan who had a long journey.

It was great snice I was mainly involved in planning this event. The education, teaching 9 different scenarios requested a lot from the participants. Nine different contents are being taught at 18 different station. Especially the deliverance out of the brand new cars attracts the participants. These cars are cars without a serial-number, which are only used for crashand other tests. These are the first cars being produced after inventing a new model.

ROME - 2009

Finally - Tayna reminded me to refresh my blog - sorry for letting things slide. In may - I was able to meet a great friend of mine - Katie!
ImageImage
It was so much fun to meet them on their trip to Europe in Rome, Italy.
Image
Image We had 3 days together and since Katie and Brian never got tired - it was very exhausting ;-)! Thank you so much for pushing us - we are such lazy guys and the weather was soooo hot! Crazy - since we have a very human climate in Germany - we aren't used to such a heat at all.

ImageWe saw som eunbelievable artwork and historical building you never even would have thought about. I uploaded a couple of pictures - sorry for the big number and the few explinations.

Introducing Mr. Diplomkaufmann Christoph Heinemann

HE MADE IT

Whats the difference between
this guy Image and this guyImage???

The second one is done with college!

He made it!

Christoph finally got his results of the final exam. It took 6 months to write - includes about 120 pages and is now evaluated.

From now on I have one smart boyfriend, calling himself a Diplomkaufmann (similar to the master of arts)!

I am so proud of him! This is the letter which we had in the mail today!
Image
It was a long way - he has been working on it for 7 years now and we had lots of ups and downs. We together made it through 5 3rd trys on some tests, I helped through some crysis where he was close to giving up .... but he kept going. All by himself!

I always knew he would make it - I bet that helped a lot! Don't ever stop to believe in your goals... and you will reach them!

It feels like home to me

Image
SUSY - did you create a piece of home for me?

McDonalds adopted the sweet McGriddles in Germany - and they taste so much like Idaho and breakfast at your kitchen bar - I love it!

On Mondays and Fridays (the days I work, instead of college) I walk by at McDonalds... and I can'd hold it and have to get one of those! I can hardly smell Idaho!

I guess you guys can't imagine how much I miss all of you!

Lots of hugs!

Ooouch

I don't have any Do-it-youself-projects up any more.

Since we have lots of mosquitos around here - we were up to get all those fly-screens ready. Well I was doing great, until I slipped off...

I penetrated my hand between thumb and indexfinger... too bad noboday was home... not even a neighbour. So I had to get to the doctor by myself, (It didn't fell right to call the ambulance) feeling dizzy.
Image
I got all immunizations updated and a spectacular looking dressing. Christoph sometimes laughs at me - cause I do those things all the time. :-/

Finally moved!

Image
It's been forever since my last post....!

We have had some tough months - lots of work, trouble and long nights... until we finally moved in into our house.

We moved last friday - the 11th. And we already feel home. It's great.

Our friends were great helper - we were 12 guys to carry all that stuff downstairs and up in the house. The last night - we slept in between all those boxes and stuff.... a horrible night.

ImageImage

Since we were a little scared about damaging our couch - we wrapped it into foil - and carried it downstairs by ourselves - it took about 3 hours to wrap it, carry it downstairs and bring it into the new house - but it was worth it - it didn't get a single defect.
This is what one piece of the couch looked like.

Image
We do have to much stuff.... we almost filled this truck twice....
Image
These are a couple of our great helpers - thanks a lot to everyone....
In the back you can see the range where the horses stay.

I will post some photos of the house soon.... gotta get the boxes unpacked first :-)
