So, I created my own stop-motion video so I wouldn't feel left out. Andy (11) came up with the title after he saw the completed project. I noticed that both of our stop-motion videos seemed to have the same macabre overtones.... I wonder what that could mean?
It was great fun to set up the camera, put together the shoot, and pull it all together. Great bonding time for our little budding group of movie producers.
Maybe our next run of films will be of people helping each other.

Attack of the Aliens
Riley and Tyson completed their first stop-motion video this morning. It's called "Attack of the Aliens" and it was shot with over 150 photos patched together in iMovie. You'll have to ask Riley and Tyson about the plot. Way to go, boys!

Happy New Year!

We had a fabulous Christmas break! We spent Christmas Eve doing the traditional Steurer family breakfast and then zipped up to Cedar City to go sledding at Wood's Ranch with a former roommate and his family. Christmas Day was magical, of course! It's great having small children in the home who leave out food for Santa (thanks kids!) and bring that fun energy to the holidays. This year was the first year we didn't wrap any presents on Christmas Eve. We worked hard to have them all done before so we could just enjoy the evening. What a change! We'll do this every year, as it kept the evening nice and calm.
We have adopted Jody's family traditions of cooking hamburgers for the kids on Christmas Eve so they'll eat something despite all the excitement. We give them new pajamas, read from Luke 2, and then go drive around in the new jammys and look at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music (interesting detail.... the CD player in our van was busted, so we hooked up an inverter and brought along our iPod speaker and an iPod full of Christmas music and propped it on the center console so we could keep the spirit alive!).
Some of the fun gifts this year included model rockets, Beatles "Rock Band" for the Wii, Matchbox race tracks, fully automatic nerf assault weapons (thanks Gpa Young!), classy winter coat for Jody, and loads of hot chocolate! This was our first "Miri Christmas" and she loved tearing paper and generally looking adorable. We are so grateful to have her in our family. Who could have supposed somebody so little could bring so much joy!
We had a great New Years Eve playing Rock Band with my brother's family and then eating lots of yummy food! Today we hung out with our great friends, John and Lisa, eating more food and shooting rifles out in the sticks. It was great seeing things blow up. What a powerful way to start 2010.

And, we're back!

A few of you have emailed me and said that you aren't doing the Facebook thing. Thanks for the feedback! So, I'll just keep doing both, as we love our family and friends and want to share the joy! Here are some recent photos of our little Miri Joy and her brothers. She is getting bigger and more expressive by the minute! The boys have been so loving and supportive - she's a lucky girl, for sure!

Closing down the Blog....
We've decided to stop posting on the blog for now. Facebook is so much easier. So, please come find us on Facebook and check out the pictures, updates, etc. It's too much work to try and keep up two sites. We'd love to see you there!
