What is Global Hack Week?
Global Hack Week takes place throughout the year to give you a chance to complete technical challenges, network with the community, enjoy fun live sessions, build technical projects, and make new memories.
We'll have challenges, live technical sessions with MLHers, mini-events galore, and some cool content from our partners! Here’s a sneak peek:

What is Season Launch Week?
Each GHW features a new theme, and this July we're celebrating the launch of 2024 hackathon season! Throughout the week we'll offer workshops, technical sessions, and more!
Who is GHW for?
Global Hack Week is for anyone ready to level-up their hacking skills. We welcome all programmers, designers, artists, and hackers from around the globe to join us for these events. Whether this is is day 1 or day 1000 of your hacker journey, we want you to join us!
Can I get swag at this event?
Yes, of course! Each Global Hack Week will feature some amazing 2023 Hackathon Season swag…you’ll have to participate to find out exactly what you’re getting!
What is a Guild? How can I be a part of it?
One of the best parts of our community is that it allows people to meet and make connections with others, regardless of where you live. guilds are smaller communities within Major League Hacking. Whether you come in with a guild or not, you won’t be hacking alone.
Who organized Global Hack Week?
Global Hack Week is organized by Major League Hacking (MLH). It is our mission to empower hackers worldwide by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed.
Requirements
Your challenge submission must be completed within the submission period.
When relevent, your code must be available in some sort of public repository.
If you're continuing work on an old project, you MUST specify in your Devpost what was worked on 1) Before this day of Global Hack Week and 2) During this day of Global Hack Week.
Prizes
Build a Translator
The hacker community is incredibly diverse, so we’d love to see you create something to aid communication around the world. Build an application to help translate between languages - you could translate sign language or spoken languages! Submit your hack on our Devpost!
Use a Music API
You might listen to music while hacking, but have you built anything for your music? Try building with a music API (Spotify’s got great documentation) and submit your hack on our Devpost!
Build a Giftable Project
Think of someone in your life that could use a hack - then build it for them! Perhaps your sibling needs an app to keep track of D&D campaigns or your friend could use a browser extension to keep track of when their plants need to be watered. Submit your hack on Devpost!
Use the Largest Tech Stack in a Demo
How many technologies can you fit into a demo video? Push yourself and submit on Devpost (and yes, you can count Devpost in your tech stack)

What if your garbage can could sort your recycling and compost out for you? Build a project that uses computer vision to accomplish a task. Maybe your hack analyzes garbage and sorts it into its respective kind. Submit your hack on our Devpost!

Try out an AI Paired Programming tool, like Copilot or OpenAI Codex! Share the project you build on hackp.ac/DailyDevpost.

Fitness applications are some of the most popular projects at hackathons. Maybe use the Strava API to track your miles, Garmin or FitBit API to analyze activity, or anything else you can think of. Run on over to the Devpost to show it off.

This is a classic problem in computer science for a reason. If you’re new to hacking, keep it simple! If you’re one of our more experienced hackers, try this in a new language or without leveraging search engines.
