The Google Maps Platform Awards is a celebration to honor innovative projects built with Google Maps Platform over the past 20 years. This is not just another competition, but an opportunity to showcase your work and connect with like-minded developers. We're looking for those who have pushed the boundaries of what's possible, demonstrating exceptional creativity and technical execution with Google Maps Platform.

Requirements

Did you build a project with Google Maps Platform over the last 20 years? Build a new project or showcase a previous project for a shot at an Award. Your project must meet the following requirements:

  • Leveraged at least one Google Maps Platform API or SDK
  • Entrant built and owns the project
  • Was or currently is a published working software
  • Fits within at least one of the categories
 
What to Submit
  • Include a video (about 2 minutes) that demonstrates your Project and its accomplishments. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or Facebook Video and made public.
  • Provide a URL to your project for review. If the project is no longer available, provide a wireframe or working walkthrough of the project for judges and reviewers to experience. 
  • Submit documentation that includes the project’s inspiration, history, use of Google Maps Platform, and any learnings or key differentiators.

Judging Criteria

  • Functionality
    How scalable is the application? How well was the Google Maps Platform used within the project at the time of release? Was the project usable in multiple regions, or could have been used by more than one type of audience?
  • Purpose
    Was the project solving a problem? Is it an application that would encourage a user to use it more than once for its benefits?
  • Content & visualization
    How creative is the application? What’s the visual quality like in comparison to other applications at the time? Does it utilize the Google Maps Platform features to present information in a way that is easy to understand and insightful?
  • Technical execution & integrations
    How well are you showcasing features of the Google Maps Platform? Does the project leverage Google Maps Platform to enhance the functionality and capabilities of the maps experience, such as through automating user tasks or integrating data?
  • User experience
    Does the project prioritize a smooth experience, intuitive navigation, accessible features, appealing design, and impressive camera control and animation? Does it incorporate elements that make the map experience engaging?
