Holy Moly.... Its been such a long, long time!

Greetings everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog today.  A lot has happened since I last posted.  My dear husband and I bought a home in Arizona, sold a home in western New York and lost our dear puppy Maggie.  So, the reason I haven't been here is obvious.  It took me three months to pack, sell  leftover stuff, donate leftover stuff and recycle leftover stuff.  We had a lot of leftover stuff!  Then came the move itself.  We rushed to Arizona to make sure we made it to the new house before the moving truck arrived only to wait another 5 weeks for it to get here.  Then we had to unpack, organize and figure out what to do with more leftover stuff. Oh, and don't forget, new drivers licenses, car registrations, mail, banking, doctors, dentists.... I know you have been there done that too, so thanks again for stopping in.

This is my first project in my new craft room.  It's a 4" sq. "Smashbook" for my great niece Nichol's baby shower next month.  I know they're having a boy if you couldn't tell.  Please leave me a comment, I'd love to know what you would have done different.

Hugz,
Gramma

Don't Pay the Ransome!! I'm Back!

Greetings every one.  Exciting news here.  My dear husband and I are moving to the beautiful state of Arizona in just a few months.  We wintered there this year and loved it enough to stay.  For now we are getting ready to move out of our New York home.  We've lived there for the last 39 years.  Our eldest was five months old when we moved here.  We will miss our nearest and dearest friends and family very much when we do go, but we are also excited to start another new chapter in our lives that doesn't include snow!  I think I'll have a little time to make a few cards between now and moving day so keep your eye out for another new post soon.

Thank You San Antonio, Texas

Image
Vietnam Veterans from Charlie Company

Recently Ron and I attended a reunion of Vietnam Veterans from Charlie Company in San Antonio, TX.  There was a pretty good turnout and we all had a great time swapping stories with old friends and new ones.  As a group we rented a bus to tour the city with the highlights being "The Alamo" and the "River Walk."  We went to a safari park on our own a day or two later. Below are a few photos:

There were many more animals here but you'll have to see them yourself when you visit San Antonio.

Last, but not least, we went home through Cincinnati, OH to meet with Phyllis Ballou and her husband Ron at one of the many Cracker Barrel restaurants in the greater Cincinnati area.  We had a great meal and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Phyllis and I met up on the "Cards for Soldiers" message board on the Cricut site several years ago.  Always a treat to put a face to a name.

Sorry to have been MIA....

You know, busy, busy, busy.... everybody is busy during the summer months.  Even us old retired folks like summer.  I've been busy working on projects for Christmas and planning get aways in the coming months.  But the reason I'm posting is to show you our neighbors pine tree that was struck by lightening last night.  The tree was about 50 yards from our deck outback.  Our house is in the clear space at the right side behind the tree in the first photo, not sure if the blue from our deck cover shows here.

This second photo is of the same tree about 90 degrees east of the first photo.  The trunk is seen in the top center/right.  Closer to the camera is a root from that tree bottom/left.  The energy from the lightening blew the bark right off the root...

This third photo is of the now debarked root section.  I am a true believer in Mother Nature's power!
