Random...

Things have been crazy lately. Have you ever noticed that when things are crazy or there are things pressing on your mind, recording the happenings that happen each day, week, and month just doesn't happen? Greg has had the flu/cold (CRUD!) for the past 6 (read it, SIX) weeks and while he is feeling better, he hasn't had a voice the whole time. Isn't it true too that the older they get, the bigger the babies they are? Greg has actually done really well for how bad it has been and how long he has been sick but he didn't like it when I put him in the car and took him to the Instacare a couple weeks ago after this junk had hung around for 4 weeks already. After prescriptions for antibiotics, nasal spray, cough suppressant, mucus ridder, etc, were properly dispersed as well as the stop for a humidifier, dayquil, nightquil, and tylenol, were acquired, he is still sick! Whats the deal?! The man has only been sick twice (2!!) in the whole 5 years I have known him and even then, it was only classified as being sick because he actually took something for it like tylenol or the like. Now all of the sudden it is like he was never well. He sounds like he has been a smoker for 50 years and is now suffering the ill effects on his throat. I have a funny video of him doing an anti smoking commercial and if I could figure out my new phone, I would post it. Since I am very technology handicapped, Greg might just have to do it for me because lets be honest, do I really have the patience to figure it out? Not likely.

Anyhow, we are looking at getting a new camera and wondering what to get. I want an SLR that will actually take good pictures. Here is the thing, I know of a couple good ones (Cannon Rebel is kind of what I am looking at) but am wondering what works best. What should I avoid? What should I go for? Brands? Settings? Lens? Suggestions! Email me or leave a comment because I am in desperate need of some help on this one. Our little point&shoot has been faithful for so long but it is time to upgrade!

Long time, No See

My goodness, it has been awhile. Things have come up a notch in craziness in the past couple months. Life is supposed to calm down after Christmas but that hasn't been the case. It has been a good crazy though. With the weather starting to warm up (45˚ for a high today! At least it is above freezing), the projects are coming with increased frequency and much has been accomplished. Let's start at the beginning:

New Year's was spent with Greg's sister Jill and her husband at our house. We played cards until we were falling asleep at the table then let off the best fireworks around: primers hit with a hammer. It was good fun. We then spent the day sledding with Matt, Kevin, Derek, and friends at Rock Canyon Park in Provo and it was the best sledding I have had in a long time. We took the dogs as well as Kevin's dog, Abby. They didn't so much enjoy riding but couldn't get enough of chasing everyone down the hills.

ImageImageImageImageDerek built quite the jump and it had a bit of a lip at the top and launched everyone. The first time Matt went off it, it popped him up enough that he just stood up when he landed on his feet upon re-entry into the atmosphere and took off running. They proceeded to modify it slightly. Image

The next week or so was spent without power to half our house and we started an unplanned project on the house. One night, I went to turn the light on in the kitchen and the lights blinked and everything went dark. Not only did we blow a breaker, we fried the breaker box. It is about 60-70 years old so really, it is no surprise. ImageThe way the house is wired, it blows that specific breaker quite often and it finally got to the point where it wouldn't turn back on. This is when it is good to a have a big family because there is one of every profession close including, Matthew, the Electrician! He came over and proceeded to install a new breaker box. ImageImageNo one even got zapped! Once everything was installed and looking good, they turned the power back on and… nothing. Uh oh… They started tracing lines and such and found an outlet that had shorted out, melted the whole side of it and luckily didn't start the house on fire. It was right at the first of the line out of the breaker box so everything after it on the breaker was out. So we installed a new breaker box when all it took was a $2 outlet. I guess it needed to be done anyway but it would have been nice to have it a little more planned instead of done out of necessity. The joys of homeownership...

In amongst all of this, we made a trip up to Alta (free bunny lift!) and Greg taught me to ski. I have snowboarded for a long time but never have been skiing. Would you believe it if I told you that the only crash I had was coming off the lift the first time? I wouldn't believe it either but it is true! It was awesome! ImageWe skied all day and I was even keeping up with Greg in some parts which is incredible because if it is anything less than a black diamond, he is bored. We really had fun and by the end of the day, we were entirely, completely, extremely, in all accounts, ex-HAUSTED! We could barely climb in the truck so we went home and played rock band with friends all night. How we made it through, I will never know but our skills were severely lacking.

Stay tuned… we aren't even half way through January yet!
