Oh my heavens, is July really half over already? Where on earth did that go? We have been so busy this summer that it is flying by. Amy’s family was in town for awhile and that was an absolute riot. I don’t think I have ever played more night games in my life or had more shaved ice than we have this summer. The water balloons have also been rather plentiful and you have to be careful, or our crazy dog Molly will come up and steal them from you when you are not looking and then run away. Seconds later, she will be back for another one.
We were playing water balloon volleyball and the second you went down to launch, Molly would grab the balloon and run away. We lost a lot of balloons due to that goofy dog. Gavin and Garrett were hilarious with all the balloons. We threw them, tossed them, played catch, played volleyball, watched the thunder clouds get closer and closer and enjoyed every minute of it. We played all afternoon and went through about 400 balloons. It was great.
The 4th of July weekend was pretty fun. Friday night was the annual Russon family sleepover complete with hot dogs, hamburgers and water balloons. We played all evening, watched a movie in the backyard, and everyone camped out and slept wherever they landed. The next day, some got up early and went to watch the hot air balloons go up while others helped get Kay-HOP ready, and no July 4th would be complete without a blast from the cannon.
That night, we went to Fox Field in Provo to watch the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire with Amy’s and Amber’s family. We had a pretty sweet spot and played football and soccer and frisbee until we couldn’t walk anymore.

We then watched Derek and Dallas try to flirt with some girls. There were a couple girls a little ways away so they went and started to play catch with the football right next to them. They were having some success until Dallas threw it too close and ended up hitting the girl in the back of the head. They came back to where we were pretty quick unfortunately, without any new phone numbers. The fireworks turned out pretty good this year.

In years past, they have had to cut the show short because the hillside was so dry and fire prone and it looked like it was going to be the case this year but they kept them going even after a mishap in the stadium where one went off too low and a few people got injured. There were so many people and it was crazy trying to get out of there. We finally arrived home long after midnight and crashed. Church at 9 the next morning was just plain brutal.
Sunday night, we went over and lit a ton of fireworks with everyone.
Last weekend, we tried to go camping but that didn’t work so well. We went up Sheep Creek and found a cool trail that headed off the beaten path. Come to find out, it was a Jeep trail and we ended up scratching the side of our truck up pretty bad. It isn’t pretty. There wasn’t even a very good camping spot to make it worth it. We made dinner and let the dogs run around like wild indians and then headed home when it started to get dark. The spot really wasn’t worth trying to make work and our bed at home was sounding better the later it got. We had fun though and now know that it is four wheeler country instead. Lesson learned.
