personality:
Kiden is a typical teenager whose life has been on the rowdier side of average. The eldest of four to a single mother has left Kiden with little structure and no real feeling of belonging within the public school system. She acts out frequently, almost mindlessly, as if she knows no other way to be—one adult character comments “do you know how to speak without being insulting?” to which Kiden's friend replies “no, she doesn't”--because she feels the need to strike back against a system that leaves her feeling aimless. Those feelings of alienation haven't really left her all through her crazy mutant power escapades; guides by her father's cryptic messages, she feels trapped, like a chesspiece, and like her fate is not in her control. As a result of this erratic lifestyle, she tends to seek out the kind of stability she once enjoyed with her original family, routines to settle into. While her first instinct is never to keep still, she will make herself 'at home' wherever she winds up, for so short a time as she may stay there.
Kiden is very predictable in her dealings with others. Adults are met in equal parts with carefully-practised disregard and scorn, while her peers may occasionally see her walls come down. Kiden's trust is painstakingly hard to gain, and even tougher to keep, but to those chosen few to whom she gives her faith she also gives unwavering loyalty. She is fiercely protective and will put herself in physical danger without a thought for her friends and loved ones, but attaining that status takes both time and conscious effort. Most people will rarely make it past the 'good acquaintances' stage, remaining on a plateau of neutrality. Kiden tries to remain emotionally distant, but she's still sixteen and vulnerable, despite what she'd have you believe.
She's got guts and a very sharp brain, for all that she likes to fill it with substances. She won't outright hurl abuse until something makes her angry, but she's so casually flippant it's like it's going of style. She gives more fucks than she lets on, but that doesn't necessarily mean she cares about a lot of things in life. Before anything else, she's a survivor, and her needs are few: somewhere to sleep, to get out of the rain, some food, and she's satisfied. She has no interest in bettering her situation unless it advantages her, because she's perfectly willing and capable of making do with whatever life throws her way. Education? A career? Who needs those? Like a lot of teens, and more importantly because of the kind of life she's led, Kiden lacks a lot of forward-thinking and tends to stay in the here-and-now. She has no, of very little, ambition or drive. Many of her skills are impeded by her lack of focus. She's very smart—when she feels like it. She's very determined—when she needs to be. And so on.
Because she tries to keep a low profile when it comes to her powers, she prefers not to make too many commitments; No-Time allows her to walk away from just about anything that might disagree with her. On the subject of her power, it's both a boon and a curse: a curse because it (and its misuse) is indirectly responsible for the misery Kiden has been through, but a boon in that it gives her unparalleled control over her own fate. Kiden is far more self-reliant than most people her age and most of that is attributable to No-Time. She use No-Time as a stress reliever, when she wants to feel powerful and to remove herself to a world where she doesn't need to answer to anyone. Only recently has she begun to use No-Time to actively hurt people, but this is rare—her power is a flight mechanism more than anything else.

Only recently has she begun to use No-Time to actively hurt people, but this is rare—her power is a flight mechanism more than anything else.
abilities/powers:
No Time: Kiden has access to her own personal time stream, which she calls No Time. In No Time, Kiden needs neither to eat nor to sleep, and life around her goes on as usual, albeit at a much, much slower pace, while she operates normally. She can therefore spend months in No Time, while barely a few days pass in reality. Comic book physics make it so that her relative velocity allows her to perform incredible feats of strength and speed. For example, in canon, she touches a young man's arm in No Time, breaking it. Touching a person effectively forces her out of No Time, though she can leave it at will.first person sample: Post from
Escape artist: Kiden is not brave unless she absolutely gun-to-the-head has to be. Faced with danger, her answer is always to run. So lots of running around, away from the drug dealers, away from the cops, away from the random killers out to get her, means Kiden's really good at running. Not just the physical parts of it--she's fit, despite being underweight--but also at figuring out how to get in and out of places. I wouldn't say she's got crazy assassin-level parkour skills, but she's very into getting from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible. If that means scaling up the side of a building and then climbing up the rain gutter? So be it.
Survival skills: Kiden's a survivor; when it comes down it, she'll always look out for #1 first. When the going gets tough, she has less than zero qualms--and even relishes, on some level--to get down and dirty, sifting through dumpsters and trash bins for food that other people might turn up their noses at. (It's fine if you cut off the mouldy parts!) This girl has the immune system of an armored truck.
Street smarts: She's in possession of particular brand of ruthlessness, which ties in to the above. Kiden is manipulative, and the more she knows you, the more ammunition she's stocking against you for later use. She's not above lying, stealing and cheating if it means getting what she wants; it's not really an ability, per se, but that willingness is a skill that comes in handy in a hostile environment.
It should be noted that Kiden is not in possession of any notable fighting skills or weapons training, though she has seen and experienced enough guns to know how they work and, rudimentarily, how to use one.
