Sequel to the critically acclaimed game
Hades II is an action game developed by Supergiant Games and is the sequel to the popular rogue-like game Hades. In this dungeon-crawler game, players will take on the role of Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld. Melinoë, sister to Zagreus, embarks on a quest to defeat Chronos, and rescue her family.
Hades II introduces new characters, and growing closer to them over time is a must, so you can unlock bonuses to boost your abilities. Gameplay-wise, you can use powerful Boons from more than a dozen Olympian gods to become more powerful, allowing tons of load-out customization possibilities.
Battle beyond the Underworld
Hades II introduces a more deliberate combat system compared to the original. Players must adapt to a combat style that emphasizes precision over rapid dashing, offering a fresh challenge even for veterans of the first game. The inclusion of the "Magick Bar" adds a new layer to combat, allowing for strategic use of magical abilities. With two distinct paths, one from Erebus to Tartarus and another from Ephyra to Mount Olympus.
Similar to its predecessor, this sequel also takes inspiration from Greek mythology but infuses it with the allure of witchcraft. For the most part, it carries over many features of the first game—the camera angle, the dash mechanics, and the boons from various Olympians were shown to be similar. Additionally, this game will have new upgrade mechanics, such as weapons upgrades, keepsakes, and companions.
The Olympic Update
Hades II offers a substantial amount of content, including more environments and characters than the full version of the original game. The developers have released major updates, such as "The Olympic Update" and "The Warsong Update," adding new regions, weapons, and narrative elements. While the story is not yet complete, the game's current state provides a rich and engaging experience. You can also unearth the last of Nocturnal Arms called Xinth, the Black Coat.
Establish new alliances with the two newly added allies whom you can get blessings from. Not only that, but you can also keep their secrets and utilize their 'keepsakes.' In addition, it is also possible to form new partnerships with the newly introduced animal familiars that offer companionship and can be of great service. These familiars stick by one's side through all types of hardships.
A fiery sequel that casts a powerful spell
Hades II successfully builds on the legacy of its predecessor with deeper mechanics, strategic combat, and rich mythological storytelling. With a compelling new protagonist, evolving world, and frequent updates, it offers hours of engaging gameplay. Though still in development, its content depth and polish make it a must-play for roguelike fans and returning players alike.
