preschool: green eggs and ham

For the month (3 weeks) of December, I decided that everyone would have a winter theme on Monday and then can pick their favorite book on Wednesday.

The book I picked was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. We talked about what an author is and showed them all the books that we have that are by Dr. Seuss. Then I read Green Eggs and Ham. Occasionally I stopped and we talked about the rhyming words in the story.

Then the kids helped my make green eggs. Everyone had a turn breaking an egg and mixing. We added blue food dye and talk about yellow + blue = green. For the ham part, I just tore up deli ham slices for them.

Chelsie loved it and had 3 plates full while Robert wouldn't touch it at all. That's not too surprising since he doesn't eat eggs.

Then we played a fun Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham board game that I picked up at the WaldenBook's closing sale.  Someone is the chef and calls out which on the three animals what a certain food.  The game was a big hit! Everyone got into it. They also did a nice job of taking turns.

preschool: snowmen

I did a fun unit about snowmen. First we read "The Biggest Snowman Ever." Then we made circle snowmen.

Robert added a face to each circle.

Then they could decorate a snowman cookie (oreos dipped in candy coating).

Then we did a math activity were I rolled a dice and then they covered up the number with a marshmallow. I was surprised to find that everyone but Robert had a tough time recognizing the numbers. Since there was marshmallows involved everyone had fun though.

Preschool: Farm Animals

For the last week of November, Laura finished off the section of animals.

On Monday they made a farm scene. However, Robert was having a bad morning and ended up not going to preschool. He didn't sleep well because he was coughing a lot. By the time preschool was over, Robert was feeling much better. We went to the house, so I could drop off the new school for January. Laura gave us the activity sheets they used.

On Wednesday, they made a sheep out of their hand print and painted farm animals with water colors which they all loved to do.

Not much happened this week for Hailey.

She wrote No Horace, Mom and Dad. I wonder if she meant horse instead of horace.

Wednesday Preschool: Indians and Pilgrims

At Jenna's house they talked about Indians and Pilgrims.  When I asked Robert what preschool was about he said "dogs and cats and Indians and Temples.
Image
They also played on bongos and a small guitar and sang songs. So I asked Robert what songs the sang and he started saying a lot of numbers. I'm guessing they sang 10 Little Indians.
