Powder Mountain Lift Evacuation

We get very excited every year when we get to throw ourselves off the lift at Powder Mountain. We love it!

First we get to eat yummy food.  Food that is not cooked by me...that means it is the best!

Image

These kids think that Grandpa Ken is Santa.  They kept telling him what they wanted for Christmas.

A beautiful sunset.

Then the fun could begin.  Load em up!

We throw the littlest one off first.  She looks terrified, right?

Image

Then for child #2.  Maddie may be enjoying throwing her sisters off the bench a little too much.

Image

Image

Finally it was my turn to send her off the edge.

Image

Goodbye, my children.  Have a safe trip.

Thanks, Grandpa for another fun year!  You will never be rid of us!

"I caught another one!"

We spent our Labor Day weekend up at Bridger Lake in the Uintahs with some amazing friends.  They told us that there was a great lake for fishing and to bring our poles.  The Haun "poles" would consist of ski poles...we did not own fishing poles.  So...I headed to the store and bought the much needed equipment.  Just need a pole, a hook and some stinky bait, right?

Image

We got them ready and threw them out.

Image

And before we knew it...

Image

We had a fish, and another fish, and another fish.  Rainbow trout coming out of our ears.

Image

The girls LOVED it.

Image

When they weren't fishing at the lake, they had a second favorite activity, cards in the trailer.

Image

There are few things better in this world than good friends.
We are lucky and blessed to have so many.

Image

Happy Labor Day, everyone!

Hmmmm

Which of these is not like the others?

Image

Troy splurged on a lego toy doohickie.  Now it adorns my dresser.
May the madness stop here (before my entire house looks like a scene from Star Wars)!

A New Addition

Looks like we will have a new addition to our house in a few weeks.  Our friend found 4 kittens in her barn a few weeks ago.  She is taking care of them and trying to find them a home.  One of our cats disappeared last year so we decided we should give our existing cat a new friend.

Image

The girls go over and visit once/week to see how the kittens are doing.

Image

As you can see, it is quite the highlight of events.

Image

I think this is the one we will be bringing home.

Image

They haven't quite figured out the feeding concept.  For the most part, they just lay in the milk and then lick it off of each other.

Image

Can't wait for the kitten to come home.  Now for a name...

Erickson Family Reunion

"We're all together again, we're here, we're here..." "Sweetly sings the donkey at the break of day..." "Oh, I stuck my head in a little skunks hole"... These are a few of the songs we sing at the Erickson Family Reunion. We were in charge this year and it came and went very quickly.

We started off with a billion pancakes.

After a morning full of sunshine, it began to storm.  Then came the hail.

Image

Enough to make ice balls with.

Image

Even enough to put in a cup and eat!!!  I love a good cup of crushed ice.

Image

Ms. Aeva had a soccer game that same day and decided to stay home with Troy.  This is what they spent the afternoon doing.  Legos?  To each their own.

Image

The grass post storm.  Flooded with muddy water.  Very fun to watch.  The kids thought it was great.

Image

We had a lot of fun seeing our family members that we would never see otherwise.
Thanks to all for coming and goodbye for now.

First Day of School

Time to go back to school. Where did Summer go?

Maddie has moved over to the Junior High - 7th Grade.  Her first locker...  Their theme for the year is, "Bring the Thunder".

Image

At the Elementary School they have a new theme for this year too.  Does this pic give you any ideas of what it might be?

Image

"Valley Bulldogs are UP for Adventure".

Image

Gracie is a 5th grader.  Aeva is going into 2nd.

Image

Here they are on the first day.  All ready to go.

Image

Ok, this picture was actually taken after school.  My kids do not eat lunchables for breakfast.  They eat them 3 hours later for lunch.  :)

Off to a new year!

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

My entire family has now done the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This was by far our favorite one. Thought it was worth sharing with all the world.

Here are a few additional pics to highlight the best points in the video.

Image

I love the smiles on the grandchildren's faces.  I could tell they truly felt a lot of guilt about pouring ice water over their grandmothers head.  Priceless photos for future posterity.

Additional victims.

An awesome challenge for an awesome cause.
