Final Snowball?

Remember that "last", random snowstorm we had on March 29? I figured it might be my last chance for a tasty snowball.  I decided to make a pretty big one that would last as I drove to work.  I consider them free Slurpees and take advantage.
A no calorie treat (just be careful form where you collect your snow)!

Easter 2016

Easter Weekend! I had to work on Saturday so I missed out on all of the Saturday morning Easter Egg Hunts. Oh well, if there's a holiday I have to miss, this is probably the one I'd pick.  Troy and I decided that this Easter might bring some new bikes for the girls.  They've never had a new bike and the ones they had...well, let's just say that you should probably have two full tires of air and functioning brakes before you ride them too far.  Trial ride for the girls.

Image

Gracie's bike arrived first.  She was quite pleased with her selection.

Image

Troy loaded the girls up and took them out for the big hunt.

Image

Emmett thinks this whole thing might not be for him.

Image

Jonah's first set of "bunny ears".  He isn't sure what is happening.  Ridger, on the other hand, looks quite proud of himself.  Cousins are awesome.

Image

My favorite pic...everyone look into the sun and smile.  It always turns out awesome.

Image

The Easter "loot".

Image

Breakfast at Grandma Carole's.

Image

We signed up for Easter dessert.  Bunny cars were our dessert of choice.

Image

The Hansen Hunt!  Grandpa Ken told everyone that there were "3 Golden Eggs".  Game on.  These eggs were hidden in ridiculous places and if you found them, $5 went into your pocket.  Any idea where this egg might have been?

Image

Tail pipe of grandpa's truck...way up the tail pipe.  Maddie had to go in up to her elbow.  No one else could get there arm far enough.  Nice work, Maddie!

Aeva found one too...in a box, in a cupboard, above the garbage...Grandpa Ken had to give some hints for both of these Golden Eggs.

Image

If you weren't looking for the Golden Eggs, you were checking all of the usual spots.  Bushes...

Image

Trees...

And then the final count!

Easter dinner with all the fam.  I had to take pictures of everyone in order to get one ver special picture...

Ta Da!!!  Garrett and his girly friend!  I couldn't just snap their picture without getting one of everyone else.  I enjoy the color of Garrett's face.  My job is to make him blush.
It is ridiculously easy to do.
Marley, welcome to the fam!

Gracie took and Easter basket to her Secret Grandma.  Love her!

Happy Easter!  Looking forward to many more to come!

Rube Goldberg Project

Rube Goldberg...um, who's that?  He didn't exist when I was in school.  For some reason I am the only person in the world who didn't understand what a Rube Goldberg project was.  Time to learn.  Maddie had to create a "functional Rube Goldberg invention".  In other words, it had to "do" something.  It also had to have at least 5 components.  So, here it is...

Image

The train was the force (wheel and axle).  It pulled a string that went through a bobbin (pulley).  The string the pulled our pen (wedge).  When the wedge moved, the tape rolled down the incline (book) which was on a wedge (wedge #2 that is).  Tape rolled down incline into the dominoes (dominoes).  Dominoes hit the mouse trap (2nd class lever).  Mouse trap launched the ball over the net to the other side and Maddie hit it back!  Complete, totally awesome and done!
School has gotten so much more complicated!

Aeva's (Extended) Family Tree

Not sure Aeva even knew what she was doing but she created her family tree during Sacrament Meeting. It is definitely an "extended" family tree - includes all past pets, dead or alive, aunts, uncles, etc.

She kept some families together but then she also grouped "kids" together and then there is a section for animals that were not ours.  I also think she got tired or maybe just ran out of room as she simply decided to write "aunts" and "uncles" toward the end.

Image

We love our Aeva and are so glad that she is a part of our "tree".  Love you, sweet girl!

Thanks, Mia Hamm, for saving the day!

Bring Your Own (Extremely Large ) Cup Slurpee Day

We celebrated our 2nd BYOC to 7 Eleven and fill it up with the Slurpee flavor of your choice.
This is quickly starting to replace some of my other favorite holidays.

First Spring Day 2016

We had to commemorate the first day of "go outside and run around with your summer clothes on".  Maddie began re-perfecting her flip, the cats found Gracie and Aeva appears to be dead on the swing.  Looks like Spring is indeed on it's way.

Peep Dioramas 2016

We have some awesome friends that invite us every Easter to participate in a Peep Diorama competition.  Each year there is a theme and then every family that participates gets to vote for their 5 favorites.  The kids LOVE it and look forward to it every year.

This years themes was, "Your Favorite Book".  Each girl finally narrowed it down to one of their favorite books and went to work.

Gracie - She loves Michael Vey.  I have never read this series but apparently Michael has electric powers.  See below:

Image

Aeva picked Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus.

Image

The pink bunny on the left is the mom and she is holding baby Ollie (the purple duck).  The blue duck with the "P" on its chest is the principal and the white duck with the "T" is Junie B's Teacher.  Junie B. of course is on the right with red hair and she is sticking her tongue out at the bus.

Image

Maddie chose "The Fault in our Stars".

Image

If you have read this book or seen the movie, this is hilarious.  The story is about two teenagers that both have different types of cancer and they fall in love.  Gus (the yellow bunny), has bone cancer and lost his right leg above the knee (thus the tooth pick and stump on his right leg).  He also always keeps a cigarette in his mouth but he never lights it.  He says its a metaphor.  The cigarette has the power to kill you but only if you light it.

Hazel (the pink bunny), is a girls with a weird form of lung cancer.  She has to use oxygen to function.  Gus uses his final wish to take Hazel to Amsterdam so she can meet her favorite author.  Anyhoo, this is the seen where they are sitting on the bench in Amsterdam and Gus has to tell Hazel that his cancer has come back.  Can you feel the sadness exuding from the marshmallow peeps?

At the end of the day, we didn't win the coveted peep trophy but we had a blast making them.  Nice work, girls!  You may have a future in Peep Art.

Spring Flowers

Troy brought home some Spring flowers.
They were awesome and brightened up the kitchen for 2 whole weeks.

Image

Maybe I will have to reconsider my previous request of the past 17 years and change an occasional Slurpee for a bouquet of bright flowers.  Thanks, Daddy!

Glittery...who?

So, can you tell if this is Maddie or Gracie?

Image

What about this one?

Image

The second one is a little easier to tell.  Anyway, if you guessed, Gracie (for both), you are right.
She has way too much fun on my phone.

Another one for Avalanche!

Gracie's team pulled down a second place win for Futsal this winter. They played some older girls and held their own.

Way to go, girls!
