Party Planner in the {making}!!

Baby R has been bugging me and bugging me to have a party.  She had so many themes and ideas and was constantly pitching these ideas to me that I finally decided, you know what?  Let this child throw a party, what is the worst that could happen?  So, I sat Baby R down, made her focus and came up with a plan of how her very first party that SHE planned all on her own would look like, in real life.  What you are about to see is EXACTLY what Baby R wanted, it was one of the funnest nights I think our family has ever had, enjoy.....
Image
As Baby R's guests arrived, they needed to sign her "guest book", she was very adamant that none of her guests could come through the garage, everyone had to ring the doorbell and come through the front door so they would see her guest book and be able to sign it.  If anyone came through the garage door they were, "X'd" (meaning, you weren't allowed into the party and she was serious!).   After all guests signed her guest book she instructed everyone to go in the family room to pick a balloon to blow up and their favorite color of streamer which then you could tape them anywhere you wanted.  Next we sat down to dinner and as soon as we finished the party finally got off to an amazing start!
Image
Baby R wanted to put on a performance on a stage, outside, but it was cold and raining so she learned sometimes you have to go to Plan B and that's ok.  So, in her world, we turned off the lights, everyone had a flashlight and as we were her spotlights she performed many songs for us, some made up on the spot and some from her pre-school days:)
Image
She did not disappoint, her actions to each song were spectacular!

After her amazing performance that deserved a standing ovation we were then instructed to go upstairs where we would all stretch.
Image
She LOVES being the center of attention (aka, Boss) so for her to lead the group in stretches was totally her thing.
Image
After eating a heavy dinner, jumping jacks were very difficult, but we all survived in her world of "stretching".
Image
Laying down to stretch felt good, everyone enjoyed that part:)   After we all stretched (and did some cardio) we were instructed to go back downstairs to her room where we all lined up to get a sticker.  After we were all sticker-fied we were then treated to Baby R's rendition of "Let it Go" karaoke style while we all danced.
Image
Image
She was feeling it, "Let it Go" will do that to you.
Image
After our little dance party to "Let it Go" we were treated to goody bags!  What's a party if you don't have a goody bag?  Pretty sucky one if you ask me!  Baby R treated everyone to a can of Silly String and a box of designer bandaids to fit each personality.

Disney Princess bandaids!

After everyone was pleased with their goody bags Baby R had one last thing....

The Ceremonial Basket Jumping!

Aunty D caught the most air, she wins!

And our amazing little party host jumping the basket!

Baby R threw an amazing party, everyone had a great time and she was so pleased and loved being the host.  She's already planning her next party....actually, she is planning a surprise party for her cousin when he gets home in March, but SHHHH, he doesn't know (and I'm not sure his mom knows this either maybe Baby R should clue her in).

This was so fun, letting a child take the reigns leads to one of the most laughter filled, memory making you could possibly ever have.  If you'd like to be invited to Baby R's next party she is planning, let her know, she'd love to have you!!

Family {came}!

Mr. D and I have been on our own, no family around pretty much since we got married.  So to our surprise, family appeared almost out of nowhere!!!  We finally can say we live near family, family we like!
Image
Aren't they a gorgeous little family?  My kids adore all of them:)  I took their photos last week and my SIL joked about me magically making her skinny (she is already skinny but us girls have issues seeing that).  I told her I couldn't really make her look skinny so I did the next best thing and sent her photo back.....

Meet my family.

Welcome to Texas ya'll!!

Christmas {2014}!

Holy Smokes, we finally made it to Christmas Eve!
Image
My darling kiddos all ready for bed in their new jammies.  Better get to bed soon kids, the big guy will soon be here!...
Image
Santa came and did not disappoint!  Baby R got her first license to drive!   Santa must have thought she was extra good this year!
Image
Big smiles first thing in the morning must mean Santa did his job right:)

So I had seen a fun item at a large Christmas expo my SIL and I had attended several weeks back.  I loved the idea but wanted the item tweaked to be more personal for Little R and the girl totally did what I asked to make this special for Little R.   I had one of these Knob Charms made for Little R and even had the saying that comes with it reworded a little bit to fit Little R to a "T".  If you'd like to see these Knob Charms, they are totally adorable: http://www.inkityblinkity.com/category-s/1842.htm

Minecraft, Minecraft, Minecraft!  I think if he says it 3 times Minecraft would appear;)
Image
Told ya, Minecraft.
Image
Told ya again, Minecraft.  G actually guessed this spider before he even opened it.  It was killing him seeing the gift stare him in the face, he wanted at it, bad!  Good thing it really was the spider, don't know how he would have reacted if it wasn't;)
Image
I always save a gift for the last so all the kids know presents are over.  Some years they may all get an individual item, other years it's a combined gift.  This year, it was combined...
Image
I'm seeing smiles!!
Image
Disney Infinity and all the new guys that go with it!!  My kids were so excited, they like to "game" like their dad but don't worry, we do put limits on their play time.
Image
Mr. D's gift was something he ALWAYS bugs me about.  He hates that I never put anything on the walls.  But to be honest, we have moved so much that I really don't want to.  Plus, I have a lot of house to fill, I don't even know where to start....till now.  I made a HUGE collage of gorgeous photos of our family from when my kids were infants to now.  I think I earned points for this one;)
Image
And my last gift was a bit of a mystery.  Mr. D got creative this year I was shocked speechless, literally, this is so unlike him.  With each gift I unwrapped there was an envelope with a puzzle piece.  As our present opening went on, I had to keep trying to put my puzzle together.  Once I had all the pieces, I taped them together and read, "Pack your Bags" and on the back it told me to go look under my chair at the kitchen table.  What awaited me was a large envelope, when I opened it I was so surprised!  Mr. D knows how much I love NYC so he's taking me for Valentine's Day to spend the holiday in one of my favorite cities!!  Shows, museums, swanky dinners here WE come!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I see {you}.

Image
G's Resource teacher from his elementary had given him a classroom decoration he had grown to know as it routinely came out every year at Christmastime in the classroom.  You can't see it but it is a little hand painted snowman with pegs on it and some numbers that countdown to Christmas.  When G left his Elementary his Resource teacher and Aide gifted this classroom decoration to him.  He doesn't always show gratitude in a way a NT person might but I knew he loved that it was given to him out of love.

This year, I told his old Resource teacher I've caught him changing the numbers counting down to Christmas but he doesn't want me to say anything, he doesn't like people making a big deal out of things.  So, I quietly snapped a photo of him changing the numbers.

He's a good kid, he may not always show the correct emotions but those of us who are blessed to hang out with him daily, know what he is trying to convey.  We know.

Mailed {It}!

Goody Goody Gumdrops, it is about to be official!!
Image
My kids wrote their letters to Santa of all the things they dream of seeing Christmas morning and it's time to get those letters mailed!
Image
Into the mouth the letters go for Santa's eyes only!  We can't wait, Christmas day will soon be here.....

Ok, confession time, don't tell the kids, shhhh......

I may have sneaked their letters to Santa, photocopied them and sent Santa the copy while I kept the original.....

Yep, I did.

Love R

I think you missed a {spot}.

I did the ultimate, I signed up to be a classroom helper for my little one's gingerbread house day in Kindergarten.
Image
My child decided to just glop everything into a heap.  It worked cause other kids at the table had problems with candies sliding down their homes but not Baby R, nope!  Hers held together like cement!
Image
She was also the very last child finished, she refused to have even a morsel of candy left in her bag, she had to use every.last.candy.
Image
And my Baby R giving me her crazy smile (she gives this smile when she's extra proud of her work).  Another mom and I had both noticed that all the girls seemed to just get the candy on with no real design but majority of the boys made windows, a little door, chimney's etc...  Baby R's house is booby trapped, let me see how you'd figure out getting inside her house!

Tis the {Season}.

Every year there is a shopping area down the street from us that has these fun 5 minute light shows that run every 30 minutes.  It seems to be a tradition after we see Santa Claus we walk down the way to go see this show.

It's pretty and my kids enjoy the holiday lights set to music, plus, it's free family fun, can't beat that:)
