Thanksgiving

We went to Laguna Beach for Thanksgiving to visit Matt's parents. It was nice to get back there. We both miss it very much since we left. A bunch of Matt's siblings are living there now so it was nice to see the cousins. Matt played in the annual ward Turkey Bowl and I was shocked to see him uninjured at the end of the game! Although, he did suffer an embarrassing moment of wardrobe malfunction. You'll have to ask him for the details. I'll just say that I was glad that he was wearing clean undies that day. We had a lot of fun seeing our friends, Chris and Jenna. They are great! We went bowling with them and Roxie had a great time! The trip was short but we had a lot of fun.

Roxie and I have a joint love for baking. She's really taken after me here. I love to bake. And cook but mostly to bake. Nothing is better than making cookies or cupcakes or some other delicious treat. We made cookies yesterday for Matt's return from the East Coast. As soon as I get out the mixer, Roxie is ready with her stool and spoon to help mix. She loves to dump in the ingredients after I measure them and is getting pretty good at cracking an egg too. But by far her favorite part is tasting, who wouldn't like that part!? She thinks she's hot stuff in her apron and oven mitts. Seriously, like mother like daughter. I love a good pair of mitts. We're excited for the holidays when we can bake to our hearts desire!

Roxie loves her piggy pj's. She would wear them all day if I let her. This morning I told her that it was too cold outside to just wear her piggy's so she quickly ran into her room and got her hat and gloves. I guess she figured this would solve the problem of it being too cold. She's still wearing them now but it's always a sad minute when she has to get dressed for real.

Matt's in New York for the next couple of days and I'm sure he's loving it but we're not! Matt's never left for a business trip before and I now have new respect for single mothers and mothers whose husbands travel frequently. I'm so tired and bored at night. I'm used to looking at the clock and counting down the hours until Matt comes home and it was a sad realization last night when 6:00 rolled around and there was no Daddy to be found. I'm usually really excited for the weekend but with no Matt here, there's not much to be excited about. It's just like another day of the week. So, I'm a little sad and depressed today, not to mention lonely. Matt comes back Sunday and although I know it's a short trip, I'm glad it doesn't happen very often!

I have been asked to post our Halloween pictures. We went to Utah for my sisters wedding so we were able to go my family's annual costume party. I made our costumes, I'm a flower and Roxie is the thorn. A little mean I know but it was just for the family and it was a funny costume to make. Roxie was going to go trick or treating but was having so much fun handing out the candy to all the big kids that we didn't actually go. She had plenty of candy anyway.

Merry Christmas

Roxie has been sick the last couple of days so what were we to do but decorate for Christmas? I'm really excited for Christmas to come this time for some reason. I love this time of year. I love getting the house all decorated and buying gifts. So, Matt's family has a tradition of giving ornaments to the kids each year. It's a great tradition and the ornaments are really pretty... and fragile. It's going to be hard to keep Roxie off of them. So, in our attempts to keep her from breaking all the ornaments we bought her a "special tree" that she can touch and decorate and do whatever she wants to it. This picture is of her decorating it herself. We'll see how it works out.

SO, many of you have been very supportive about this blog. Right now it's not looking too great at all but this week I'm going to figure it all out. We just got back from Utah for my sister, Jill's, wedding so you'll have to forgive me. In the meantime, if any of you have some special tricks to spruce up my page, it would be much appreciated. So, check in again. I promise not to disappoint.
