Here's a little vid of Macy doing the majority of animal sounds/signs she knows. I'm just amazed that we managed to get this long of a recording without Macy diving for the camera. Enjoy!

Are You Sure It's Not Friday the 13th?
Bad day.
Okay, so it could have been worse, but let's just say today was not one of my favorites. Friday is story time day at the library, so I decided to take Macy over there, as usual. We go to story time, check out a few books and head back to our car to drive home. We get to the car, and I can't find my keys in my monstrous purse/diaper bag. I figure they're just somewhere in the bottom of the bag, so I dump the entire contents out in the middle of the parking lot...still no keys. I go back into the library and retrace my steps to see if they fell out somewhere along the way. No keys. I go back to my car and peek in the window and surprise! I see my keys sitting neatly in Macy's car seat. (How they ended up there, I'm still not exactly sure.)
Frustrated, I reach in my bag to grab my cell phone, figuring I'll just call one of my neighbors and see if they'll come rescue Macy and me. No cell phone. (And later, as I'm thinking about it, it probably wouldn't have done me any good to call a neighbor because it's not like any of them would have an extra car seat for Macy even if they were to give us a ride.) So, I go inside and use the library's pay phone to try and call Brett at work. Unfortunately, (but not surprisingly, considering how my day is going at this point) he's in a meeting in another building, and doesn't have his cell with him.
So, rather than being stranded at the library for who knows how long, I decide that the best (only?) option is to walk home. Normally, walking three miles wouldn't be a big deal. However, walking three miles carrying a 23 pound 14 month old is a big deal. And, just it case you're wondering, it sucked. To Macy's credit, she was a gem. No crying or fussing to get down, not even when she peed out of her diaper and onto me. (Oh yes, that really happened.)
Moral of this story? Make a spare key...or be smarter than me and don't lock your keys in your car to begin with.

Outside Adventure
The weather has been so nice lately, I've been feeling the need to get outside to do some yard work. However, since Macy still isn't walking, I haven't wanted to take her outside. I know she wouldn't stay on a blanket, and I didn't necessarily want her crawling all over the place and ruining her clothes. But, today was way too nice to waste inside, so I decided to bring her outside with me and let her wander around while I got some stuff done.
As predicted, she stayed on her blanket for about .5 seconds, then took off, eating leaves and sticks along the way.
She didn't really like how the grass felt on her hands and spent most of her time crawling around on the cement. So much for trying to keep her pants and shoes for hand-me-downs!
And, just because this makes me happy...
I busted out the flip flops for the first time this year...holla!
I sure hope this weather is here to stay...but, knowing Utah, I'm not exactly holding my breath.

Macy's Gift
Dear Macy,
Just wanted to thank you for taking an almost two hour nap yesterday. Given the fact that you haven't taken a nap that has lasted longer than 20 minutes for almost a week now, I'd say you owe me...but I'm extremely thankful anyways.
Because of your extra long nap, I was able to get all sorts of grown-up stuff done. I swept the entire kitchen, paid several bills and started my spring cleaning project list. I even had time to pluck my eyebrows. (Yes, both of them.)Anyways, thanks again for the gift. Feel free to do it again anytime. I love you.
Love,
Mommy

Soup's On
I found this recipe for White Bean Chicken Chili a few months ago and just got around to trying it this past Sunday. It is a perfect "wintery" (pretty sure that's not a word) weather soup and is really good. (Thank you to myfoodstoragedeals.blogspot.com for the picture, I forgot to take one of my own!)

White Bean Chicken Chili
1 lb. white navy beans, soaked overnight and simmered until soft OR 6 cans of white navy beans, drained
3 cups water (add more or less, depending on how thick you want it)
1 jar (16 oz. or larger) salsa
2-4 chicken breasts cooked and cubed
1 tsp. garlic salt
3 cubes chicken bullion
1 can green chilies
1 Tbsp. cumin
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Combine all ingredients except for cheese. Simmer for 1 hour, add cheese just before serving. Garnish with your choice of avocado, fresh cilantro, sour cream, etc.
Be warned...this recipe makes A LOT of soup. We had some of the family over for dinner Sunday night to help us eat it (8 adults total) and still had enough to send with Brett to work the next day for lunch. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

You Know Your Brain is Fried When...
You know your brain is fried when you're driving home from work, humming along to a song on the radio, thinking to yourself, "Hmm...this is a good little ditty....I wonder who sings it?"
Then, a few seconds later realize it's the commercial for Campbell's Soup.
I think I need a vacation.
