Hips Don't Lie

Dear Post-Baby Hips,

First of all, I suppose I should thank you for your presence. I'm assuming it was (mostly) because of you that both of my deliveries were fairly easy.

That being said, you do make it really difficult to buy pants.

Sincerely Yours,
Amanda

Snip, Snip

Someone in the Carter home is sporting a new do...

I know you're thinking, "What?!" The girl who broke out into a crying fit every time you mentioned getting a haircut, who wanted nothing more than to have hair like Rapunzel actually let scissors near her hair? And she let you cut that much? How on earth did you swing that?

The story:
I have been trying for months to get Macy to agree to a haircut. Now I know, I'm the parent and because she's only 3 1/2 I can technically still make her do pretty much whatever I want her to (minus eating vegetables and not wearing her hello kitty crocs everywhere), but I figured I better have her on board with the whole haircut thing because thrashing and screaming when scissors are involved would probably yield some scary results.

So I waited (and waited and waited and waited). Then, out of nowhere, while we were at my mom's this past weekend for Fakesgiving, Macy announced that she wanted a haircut. Sarah and I looked at each other and pretty much ran to get everything ready before she changed her mind. Apparently she decided that Rapunzel style locks are so last year and wanted a short style ala D.W. from the Arthur books.

and after!

The whole thing ended up being a lot less epic than I had anticipated. Macy sat patiently while Aunt Sarah cut away, then looked in the mirror when it was done, smiled, then ran off to play.

I may never understand the mind of a preschooler.
