Last year,
during the 32 some odd hours that was Ragnar,
both Brett and I swore several times
that we would never run it again.
So what do we do a mere 72 hours after it's over?
Sign up for next year's race, obviously.
And thus, the team Los Banditos was born.
This year's race started much like the last one.
We met the night before to decorate vehicles,
saw runner #1 off at the starting line,
then ran, drove, and slept (sort of) for the next 35 hours.
Before we go any further, let's meet the team, shall we?

Van #2
Brett and I ended up in van #2 again for various reasons.
Brett wanted another chance at Ragnar hill
and I wanted the easy runner #7 spot.
(Legs are 4 miles, 3.6 miles and 4.1 miles)
But then, for some crazy reason,
around November or so, I decided I needed a "challenge"
and switched to runner #9.
(Legs are 3.2 miles, 10 miles and 4.4 miles)
A challenge it was.
I really don't like running all that much.
Especially long distances...
and just to clarify,
pretty much anything over 3 miles is considered a
long distancein my book.
So, I had three goals going into this Ragnar.
For leg #1...run an average 9 minute mile...check.
For leg #2...run an average 10.5 minute mile...check.
For leg #3...don't die...check...barely.
Seriously though?
The entire race was a blast.
Brett did fantastic,
as usual.
He only managed to get one picture of me running,
but I guess it will do.
Okay...obviously not me.
Anyways,
after 35 exchanges,
minimal rest,
lots of those dried mangoes you buy at Costco,
and the occasional honeybucket pit stop,
we finished.
And boy,
were we happy about it.
