What We Did {May}

May.
I finally feel like we're back in the swing of things.
It feels good.

Image
Macy and Coleman have been playing so well together lately.
They really started playing together about 6 months ago,
but now they'll disappear together and play forever.
Love it.

Image
We celebrated Mother's day.

Image
Macy made these beautiful cards

Image
and chose everyone's outfits for this "special day."
(Is Brett a good sport or what?)

Image
Our strawberries are finally ready to eat.
Sometimes we find the kids out there after dinner
(which they didn't eat)
munching on some strawberries.
At least it's fruit, right?

Image
We finally got Macy a bike she can ride.
She got one for Christmas last year, but it was too big
which made it hard for her to pedal.
She is cruising on this new one!

Image
Coleman has found a new bath time activity.

Image
Miss Macy also graduated from preschool this month.

Image
We will miss Miss Michelle so much!

Image
We were so glad that Grandma Shannon and Grandpa Mike
got to come and see the program too.

Image
And what would our month be without a mess?
Coleman found some lotion and went to town during quiet time.
This coming from the boy who HATES
to have lotion put anywhere on his person.
Oh geez...

Sarah and Tory: The Wedding

What a perfect day.

My little sister got married today.

There is so much I could say about her, Tory, their relationship,
and their amazing celebration,
but I'll just let the pictures do the talking...

Beer, Baseball, Babes...Minus the Beer

My sister rocks.
And she's getting married in a week!

Enter: Beer, Baseball, Babes.
The coolest bachelorette party EVAH!

I mean, how many bachelorette parties have you been
to at a baseball field?

Image
(A bunch of her girlfriends made her this shirt.
Love it!)

One of Sarah's friends arranged for the announcer
to come over during the 7th inning strech,
and got all of us on the jumbotron
singing take me out to the ball game.
Sarah was so happy, she cried.
Seriously, she did.

Then, someone had the brilliant idea to hand out
a bunch of extra large men's undies to the entire party
(some 30 ladies...28 of which ranged from borderline tipsy
to full on drunk.)

The results were hilarious.

The best was when a security guard came over and
told Sarah to "keep it together for 2 more innings."
Really, dude?

It was a party for sure!

Congrats, Sissy!

Finito

This sign.
Is finally.
Finished.

Image
And I love it.

But let's just talk about what an adventure making it was.

Found the idea on pintrest,
suckered my friend Julie into making the stencils for me,
coerced  Brett to help me rip a pallet apart,
then spent approximately 3 hours painting it.

The next day,
grabbed a can of spray varnish to put a nice little clear
coat on my newly made masterpiece,
started to spray, and noticed that the stuff coming out of the can
looked a little more white than clear.

No worries, I figure.
This stuff must just go on white and dry clear.
I do a few more sprays across the sign,
noticing that the white is not drying clear at all.
I look down at the can and discover I am not, in fact, holding my spray varnish.
Nope.
It's white spray paint.

I panic,
try wiping it off,
sanding it off,
then dump half a bottle of citru-strip on it
in a last ditch effort to remove the white spray paint.

It was ruined.

So,
(after several hysterical fits)
I started over.
Begged Julie to make me another set of stencils,
went pallet hunting with the kids,
got Brett to rip yet another pallet apart,
and tried again.

All was well, until I removed the stencil
and realized that I had put the letter 'G' on
UPSIDE DOWN.

Something is wrong with my brain.

Luckily, it was a somewhat simple fix.
So, after some major sanding and some dirt from our garden,
the 'G' was repainted and the sign was finished.

And this time,
I let Brett handle the clear coat.
