What We Did {August}

As you know,
August is our busy month.
3 birthdays,
1 anniversary,
and
2 extended family birthdays.

Add to that this year,
Macy started kindergarten,
and getting everything ready for my preschool,
there was rarely a dull moment.

Image
We spent some time with our sweet friends, the Nelsons.
My friend Michelle has helped me SO much with preschool stuff,
I am pretty much indebted to her for life.

Image
There was school shopping to be done.
Mace and I are like two peas in a pod when it comes to that.

Image
Coleman finally mastered the art of pedaling,
and loves cruising up and down the sidewalk.

Image
Brett wanted to watch The Sandlot for his birthday
(and was thoughtful enough to snap a pic of me and the kids).
Now M & C can be heard randomly spouting off movie quotes such as:
"The GREAT BAM-BINO!"
"We are WAITing..."
and
"HAMMONBALL!!"

Image
Knowing that our swimming days were numbered,
we spent lots and lots of time at Cherry Hill.

Image
As mentioned, M stared kindergarten.
We had a little first day breakfast to celebrate.

Image
Bubbies sure misses Sissy,
but I think he is enjoying not having to share the spotlight
for a few hours a day.

Chapter 8

In honor of our 8th anniversary,
I present to you,
our most un-favorite,
embarrassing wedding picture.

Image
Let me explain.

Neither of us have "nice" hands.
When we were engaged and shopping around for wedding photographers,
we joked that if any photographer
asked us to pose for the traditional "hands on the bouquet" pictures,
we would fire him on the spot.

But, our wedding day came,
we were blissfully happy,
and willing to take any and all pictures to document the day.

Enter, awkward bouquet hand shot.

As horrible as our interlaced fingers look,
I can't bring myself to delete it.
In fact, sometimes I pull it out when I need a good laugh.

That being said,
ugly hands haven't kept us from having 8 fantastic years.
Not perfect years,
but perfect-for-us years.

I'm so grateful that I get to spend everyday
with my best friend,
the guy who always makes me laugh,
and puts up with me,
ugly hands and all.

Camping Vs. Glamping

A few weeks ago,
we went camping in Morgan
with the friends.

This was legit,
pee-in-the-woods, no-cell-service
camping.

It was awesome.

Image

Image
We spent lots of time cooling off in the river,

Image
and cooked our meals over the fire.

Image
Apparently, "real" camping is super exhausting.

Image
The men snuck in some good bonding time.
(and they say us girls love to talk...)

Image
Camping kids.

Image
There are no words...

Image
What a weekend in the great outdoors!

Compare that,
to our "glamping"
trip hosted on base a few days ago.

Equally as fun,
but not exactly roughing it.

In addition to a catered dinner,
flushing toilets
and getting to watch Babe on a big screen,

Image
there was face painting,

AND a petting zoo.
(Simon the pig was our favorite.)

But, we did sleep in a tent.
We get points for that right?

He's 3!

Our little Bubbies turned 3 today!

Image
Our birthday boy woke up to a bunch of balloons,

Image
and a big box of blocks.

Image
Later that evening,
we celebrated with family,
Monsters University style.

Image
Of course,
Coleman had to choose Squishy,
the oddest looking monster for his big cake.
Not my finest work.

Image
Sully-esque cupcakes.

Image
Mike Wazowki inspired balloons.

Image
No tears during the Happy Birthday song this year!

Image
This little guy sure brings a lot of life to our little family.

Happy Birthday Mr. Coleman!
