19 Months
Sophie is now a little over a year and a half...and every time we look at our little girl she seems taller, her hair is longer, and she's learning more and more things. In the blink of an eye she is doing everything a toddler should be doing and then some.
In the last month there have been some firsts...she had her first trip to the beach, her first time playing in the sand, she went to her first Soccer game that her cousin Austin played in, stayed in her first hotel, ate her first funnel cake, a popsicle, and a cheeseburger, hand fed Scarlet her dog food, went down a slide all by herself, drew with chalk and markers, blew bubbles, and crawled up on the couch by herself.
Some of her new favorite things include....
Putting Stickers on paper, drawing with chalk on the driveway, Coloring in coloring books with crayons and markers, playing in the pool, playing in water and sand, running, kicking a ball, sliding at the park, blowing bubbles outside, playing in her kitchen, rocking her baby doll to sleep, splashing and shooting hoops in the bathtub, reading and watching Curious George.
Her personality and her vocabulary are developing at high rates daily...
In the morning she is so much fun to get ready. Once she is dressed she helps Daddy make the bed, and then we head downstairs and she gives me hugs and kisses goodbye and then tells daddy -Babbest (breakfast).
She can tell us more about her day- Topic of discussion is "Play Hannah". Hannah is one of her friends at the sitter and apparently they play together a lot.
Some of her favorite phrases are "I did that", "Whoa Baby", and "Whoops"
She is singing parts of songs....example is "We are the Dinosaurs" there is a part of the song that she roars on cue...it is cute and hillarious...she also has learned to march to this song...and some of the songs off of the Imagination Movers Concert she can sing "nah nah nah", bounce, hop, and several other words.
In addition to singing she loves to dance and do hand motions. She has got head, shoulders, knees and toes down pat. She also has the motions to Jump Up under her belt too.
She is starting to learn the letters in her name...the favorites are the I and the E, and her favorite color seems to be yellow.
Eating Habits....
She is able to eat most of her food now with a fork and spoon that is supposed to be eaten that way.
She loves Cheese, Yogurt, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Mac N Cheese, Cucumbers, Carrots, Peas, Spaghetti, Grilled Cheese, Mini Cheeseburgers, Chicken Nuggets, Meatballs, Cheese Pizza, Goldfish Cheese Crackers, Grapes, Blueberries, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Cereal, Granola Bars, and Pancakes. Note: Our child loves anything that has cheese in it or on it.
Evening Activities...
We are trying to get her to eat what we are having for dinner...some nights are more successful than others...
After dinner we usually take her outside for a walk or into the back yard or over to the park to play.
When we get back it's usually into the bathtub to play...her new favorite thing at bath time is to make soup and put it in bowls and feed her bath time friends.
At night we now put her to bed, she is giving us hugs and kisses, and she wants to be covered up with a blanket...and Daddy and I take turn saying prayers all together.
Sophie continues to be a blessing to us each and every day....she also is challenging us as parents some days because she is moving towards those terrible twos..even at that she is still a really good laid back kid that is just testing us...and it is our jobs each and everyday to see to it that she behaves and knows that Mommy and Daddy are in charge.
We love you bunches!!

Back Home
After returning to Ohio from being in South Carolina for a week we were happy to be home, but tired from driving twelve hours. The next day Bob and I headed back to work and Sophie went back to the sitter's. When I woke her up to get her ready...she said to me "pool", "beach", "play", and I responded no to all of them...then she said "mamaw, papaw, ike, isa, puppies" and I said no honey they are all at their houses..and she said "please" with a sad little face, and I told her that vacation was over but we would play in the sand and the pool this summer and we would see everyone again soon. Guess that was her way of telling us that she had an amazing time. Thanks to Mamaw and Papaw for the awesome vacation..these times together will not be forgotten.

Loving the Pool
Did I say Sophie didn't like the water....wrong..she just did not care for the ocean water so much...but she loved the pool. I have a feeling because it was about 10 degrees warmer. She splished....
and she splashed....
with Mamaw and Mommy...
with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Michael...
With Uncle Michael and Daddy....
In her float...
And she even tried to get Papaw in the pool...by using her cute little voice to say "please"
At the end of the day we all enjoyed the water, sun, and the sand at the beach.

Life's a Beach
Since this was Sophie's first time at the beach we had no idea what to expect out of her....

She definitely was not too sure of the water...but it was a little chilly.
She did however enjoy watching it from a distance with Mommy..
And then with Daddy....
Then the rest of the family decided to wade out in it...
Okay...maybe it's alright if Daddy holds me and wades in the water..
Building sandcastles and playing in the big sandbox called the beach is more my speed..
I could be out here all day...
Mommy play with me....oh look there's the "wa wa"
Here's our hotel beach side..
Everyone just taking in some sun, sand, and don't forget the wind..
Let's go for a walk with Mommy and Daddy....
Here's Papaw...he loves the water as much as Sophie..or less
The start of digging holes...here Daddy can you hold this for me..
It's getting deeper...
Now there is water in it...
This is just so much fun to sit in...

I'm not sure who had more fun...Daddy, Uncle Michael, or Sophie???
Now let's fill in the hole with Daddy in it....
Other family moments on the beach....priceless
Nothing like a nap after a long morning on the beach!!

Dinner- Evening Adventures
Sunday Afternoon/ Night
Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Michael, and Aunt Lisa headed out to watch the baseball team in Myrtle Beach play. We didn't figure Sophie would last sitting still through that so we spent a good portion of the afternoon in the pool and taking a nap. Afterwards we met up with the four of them for dinner at Planet Hollywood.
After dinner we went to Broadway at the Beach and All of us rode the Carousel but Grandpa.
Then Uncle Michael and Aunt Lisa helped Sophie feed the fish....
To finish up the evening we headed to Ben and Jerry's for an Ice Cream treat. Later that evening after Sophie went to bed, Michael, Lisa, Bob and I took a walk on the beach and saw a beautiful moon and listened to the waves hit the sand. While Grandma and Grandpa relaxed.
Monday Night
We went to Chesnut Hill....we had a really nice meal here and the food was delicious. The guys had steaks, while Grandma had Oysters, and Lisa and I had pasta dishes, while Sophie had baked Macaroni and Cheese. While we ate our dinner we were able to see the lake where there was a crocodile lingering looking for his dinner. There were also turtles and birds to watch.
Then we went putt putt golfing which everyone enjoyed including Sophie.. she threw the balls onto the green...after awhile though I took her to the car because she refused to sit in her stroller any longer...and she behaved so well up until that point I could not have asked for anything more. Later Michael and Lisa went out to a local Ice Cream shop and brought us all back Ice Cream Sundaes oh and a chocolate shake for Daddy. They were delicious!!
Tuesday Afternoon- Night
That afternoon all of us but Grandpa went downtown Myrtle Beach since he had a sinus infection to check out the shops and walk around. I bought Sophie and I Myrtle Beach shirts, and early that afternoon Grandma and I painted Sophie a little keepsake Beach chair for her shelf here at home. Aunt Lisa was on the hunt for an I heart MB shirt, but never found one and Grandma picked up a sun visor for herself and a baseball cap for Grandpa. Other that that we had funnel cakes for a snack and headed back to pick up Grandpa for dinner.
We went to a Brazilian Steakhouse. For anyone that has ever eaten at one of these places you know when I say boy was that a lot of meat. No joke, Michael, Lisa, Bob and I tried 11+ types of meat. They bring it to the tables and carve it off for you. We had many variations of Pork, Beef, Chicken, and lastly we all tasted Grilled Pineapple. Over two hours later we were finally through and to say the least they almost had to roll us out the door. Mom and Dad got their dinner off the regular menu- note Dad was extremely happy to eat his steak...
Once they were finished they kept Sophie coloring and I do believe they had a good time watching us indulge in the meat buffet.
