I just had another ultrasound yesterday. 30 week mark. We were checking baby's heart, placenta placement (was too low 10 weeks ago which would mean a c-section) measuring growth and double checking on girl or boy. Good news: Baby's heart looks great, and baby is moving/breathing great. Ugly news: placenta has moved up (good but come on kind of gross!) The bad news: Baby is about 2 weeks behind in growth. If Baby hadn't been moving around and doing well other wise we would be having a baby now! She is in the 3% for growth, which means out of 100 women our little one would be one of the littlest. Doctors don't like to see anything below the 10%. Problem yes and no. Not a problem right this minute but in 4 weeks when I have another ultrasound if she is still not growing as she should we will be having a baby early. There are many reasons she is behind, as simple as she just is going to be small, to placenta isn't working as it should, and everything in between. As much as I would love to hold her we need/want her to stay put as long as possible.
I also failed the 1 hour glucose test (BIG TIME) and now have to take the 3 hour one, but chances are with how high my reading was I will not be passing that one ether). Gestational Diabetes can be controlled with diet and exercise or with medicine. One of the big problems with GD is bigger babies so.... yeah that one doesn't quite make sense to me.
Needless to say it's been a day! No wonder I am starting to get more and more gray hairs!
