Week 25 /26: Monday, March 21, 2011 9:06pm
Happy 6 months to you! You are now half a candle old and getting cuter every day. We are loving having such a happy, alert little baby to hug and play with. Today you had your six month check up. You are 15 lbs, 15 oz (25%), 27.5 inches (75%). Your head size is 46.5 (100%!). Silly baby, you are all head right now. So much in fact that the doctor wants us to get an ultrasound, just to double check that everything is okay. Momma is trying not to worry, but of course I can’t help but worry just a little bit until we do the test and get the results.
You are getting better and better at playing with toys. You can now spin things with your fingers. You also like to pull out stacking cups and drop them one by one on the floor. You are trying to figure out how to use your pincer fingers, but you haven’t quite figured out that you need to open your fingers and then close them, so you just end up poking everything with a little cupped hand.
Momma went to a consignment sale a couple of weeks ago and bought you a bunch of new toys. At first you were a little startled by the noise makers, but now you like to sit in front of your activity table and press buttons.
Your Granni, Daddy and I are continuing to have fun with introducing you to new foods. The other day we stopped at a hamburger place. Momma got some water with a lemon in it. You kept wanting to have the glass, but since you are still not very good at drinking, we didn’t want you to get all wet. Just to be silly, Momma offered you the lemon slice, thinking you wouldn’t like it because it was so sour. You LOVED that lemon. You sucked and sucked on it, and even gummed all the pulp out. When we took it away you screeched for more! It was so funny to see you little face pucker up, following by a huge grin!
You continue to expand on your baby coos and noises. This week you have started saying “Baa.” You are also “silent talking.” As soon as one of us starts to talk, you start to move your mouth at the same time, mimicking the motion, but you don’t make any noise.
You are so happy and active during the day that you sleep very soundly at night. Your daddy and I joke that you “concentrate on sleep.” You have also decided that you like sleeping on your side, so when we go in to check on you in the evenings or during naptime we will find you curled up in a little ball on one side or the other, usually with your mouth hanging open.
Your Granni is leaving in a week. She has been such a great help and it has been wonderful to have her around. We will miss her very much! Your Poppa was sweet to have Granni stay and extra couple of weeks. He didn’t want anyone else watching you because he knew that Granni was the one who would love and care for you the best. I’m so grateful that you have wonderful grandparents who love you and want what’s best for you.
Momma
