When it All Comes Together

Haven't been here much.  As I suspected.  Just... don't have much to say and not finding even myself very entertaining to read.

Bill lost his job at the beginning of the summer.  He's spent the summer chasing leads and going to job search clubs and classes and groups and activities.

He's had people jump on a resume once he posts it, and he's had people track him down and ask him to apply for things.  And nothing comes of it.  Which is pretty hard on a person's ego... especially a guys...

And then... last week he interviewed and it went well and there was an interview with a boss and then... today... there was a phone call.

he starts October 7th.

Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Insight

I'm pretty sure People of Walmart is proof that our country seriously needs to give mental health care a MAJOR overhaul.

To do? Or Not To Do?

Image

So this is typically the day where I get on Blogger, say I'm going to blog more, and then come back in March and realize I haven't said a thing.

Hmmm... I wonder what will happen this year?

And what about it will I share?

Stay tuned.

God's Present Location

I was going to put this on FB, and I still might.  I just don't want to start a huge thing, but then again I kind of do.

I'm about to gag on all these posts and people saying that shootings like the one in Connecticut happen because "we've taken God out of schools".

Seriously?

Do we REALLY think that we are SO SO SO powerful and amazing that we can take God out of or put God into ANYTHING?  HE'S there.  Everywhere.  All the time.  The reason we like to say it is because then it somehow answers the question of why He allowed it.  The answer then becomes it's the fault of people who won't let God in school.... or the people who took him out.  Gosh darn, if those people had not just exercized a power GREATER THAN GOD, we'd be fine.  Oh wait.  What about when people charge into churches and kill people there?  What's the explanation then?  That church wasn't... churchy enough?

ARGH!!!

It happened because bad people do bad things, and sometimes good people do bad things.  We live in a fallen world and bad things happen every day.  It's our knee-jerk reaction to want to find a way to fix this, once-and-for-all.  But we can't.  I read a letter from a police chief who said it's time to secure our schools and let no one in but staff and students.  The doors should be locked.  All the time.

Well... then if we do that.  We should probably make it illegal to transport children in cars.  Cause that's actually where more children are killed every day.

And of course we're going to have to talk about gun control.  Because that's what we do when this happens.  And we do need to control certain types of guns, and the way people access them.  But let's face it, if someone wants to get a hold of a gun to do something bad... they're going to.  What we REALLY need to focus on is making access mental health care SO MUCH easier than it is now.  Many insurances don't cover mental health, or cover "1-3 visits"  whoopie... that'll fix it.  THAT'S something we need to fix.  But again... there's no complete fix.  There is no such thing as a guarantee that this won't happen again.

I can not IMAGINE the hell those parents are going through.  I hope I never have to imagine.  The thing we can do right now is love our kids, and help them though times like this.  And, if they ever show signs of needing help, we need to get it for them.

Ok... getting off the soapbox now.

I just have to say this somewhere and here seems to be the place.

If Mr. B's ex doesn't stop gallivanting around town with her new beau whilst leaving the boys home alone til all hours of the night, I'm gonna have to... I don't even know what.  Every week night this week she's been gone, which then means most nights the boys aren't getting to bed til past 11, even though John was sick this last weekend, and I know part of it is just lack of sleep.  Then don't even get me started on how every weekend when she doesn't have the boys, she's off on some fabulous weekend getaway, but yet "doesn't have the money" to buy Ernie (who is 10) a freaking second uniform shirt so he wears the same stained, spotted uniform shirt to school EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY.  ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
