Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah,
Dear all,
Today mark 6 days i become someone's fiancee.
Alhamdulillah. May Allah SWT bless this journey till our marriage.
Ameen. 13 August 2013= 6 Syawal was a remarkable for me and him. Allah has made this journey easier for both of us. It's a long story starting from the date chosen up to the engagement dress and all.
Let's start with the date first. I got the call from Umi (his mom) one night and she asked, "Ida, are you okay to get engaged while you're still studying?" (OMaigadd, this is the question that I would like to hear most) but you know being me I was like "im sorry umi, I can't listen to you well" and Umi repeated and I said yes! but at first Umi and the family plan to come on 25th August but after discussing with my parents they chose 16th. Mom discussed with aunties and uncles and unfortunately on that particular day most of them have started working already. So, mom called Umi and asked it is possible to make it earlier. So, that is why the date is 13 August 2013.

A week earlier, my fiance informed me to buy or prepare dress for the engagement day. I was blurred and clueless as there were nothing that gave sign for me to work on that. However, I dragged my friend to Kuantan and we managed to get the dress with the suitable price. So, I just have to send the dress to someone to make it nicer and think of the tudung to wear with the dress. It was quite hectic as it was already in fasting month. Feeling fatigue after coming out from each boutique. Tips to someone who has a plum size like me: don't buy chiffon material. It doesn't look good on you. Be choosy!! I bought dress that made from poli satin. So, the material fall nicely on you. :)
My friend that accompanied me to the boutique also got engaged on Syawal which on 4th. So, I have friends to buy the decorations for the hantaran together. My fiance was not in Kuantan. He is in KL. So, I have to work on my own. Therefore, my friend became my partner in picking everything for the engagement day. We went to Small Garden at Malay Town. Spent hours there as there were so many beautiful flowers to choose from. I finally took dark green and light pink rose for the hantaran decoration. I spent RM 207 for the deco. Yeah i know i bit pricey just for the engagement. (Itu tak termasuk brg pada hantaran as most of them I bought earlier when I was in Bandung in February)

I asked opinion from my close friend who already engaged on what kind of tudung I should wear on the day itself. She suggested a halfmoon shawl. So, the Internet line became my best friend as I was eagerly searching tudung to buy. At first I plan to custom made with someone in FB who is very talented in sewing and hand beading. However, as it is only for engagement and the budget is small, I just browsed via Net and found
aaracloset. So, I bought the plain one. Didn't notice that they can custom made the shawl to certain designs at first but I noticed in the blog they advertised that. Fortunately, they didn't send out my tudung yet. I chose the design and told them to be posted before Raya.
Alhamdulillah I am very satistied. The color really match my dress.
Allah Maha Besar.
The mini pelamin (or place to to sarung cincin I would prefer to call) was done by Makde. She has a boutique but I asked her to make it as minimal as it is supposed to be. So, the dais is pink and blue. Oh, I forgot to inform you my hantaran. We plan to have 5 and 7. So, his side gave 5 which are:
1) Sireh
2) Cincin - one for risik and one for the engagement
3) Kain baju nikah
4) Kain persalinan
5) Al-Quran
For me to him:
1) Sireh
2) Baju melayu
3) Samping
4) Buah
5) Sejadah
6) Cupcakes
7) Pot pouri
I don't have the official photographer or videographer. I simple chose 2 of my cousins to be my photographer. For MUA at first I almost giving up as most of the MUA around Pekan charge quite expensive. If they are from Kuantan or bit far places, they charge on transportation. Lastly, 2 weeks before my engagement day I found a person who is talented and suit my budget. She was the one who did on one of my hantaran - cupcakes.

| Me at the candy buffet station - ai hail sis and cousins! |
A day before my engagement day, we did rendang dendeng and rendang daging. Mom planned to have juadah raya as well even though we have nasi minyak, ayam goreng berempah, acar timun, ikan sweet sour, daging kurma, fruit- Sunkist, grapes and watermelon ;) The juadah raya are ketupat, rendang dendeng, rendang daging, kuah kacang, apam baghdad, apam beras and lopis.
Me and my little sister were working hand in hand with the candy buffet project. Since I have many small cousins so I think it is nice to have candy buffet. It is not like something with the chocolate fountain and all but it just a table with lots of chocolate on it. So, 2 days before Syawal I went to Cowboy Kuantan and bought lollipop, marshmallow, roka biscuits, jelly and twist chocolate. I assigned my cousin, Amalina and siblings to help my sister decorating the candy buffet. We just use the glass bowl available at the house.
Makndak suggested to add biskut pusat ( biscuits with colored sugar icing on top of it) .The response was overwhelming..
Alhamdulillah.
Wan (the MUA) started make up me at 10.40am and finished around 11.30am. I was shocked to see my face at first but after a while the make up slowly blend with my face and it looked nice for the engagement ceremony. Peke tied my tudung as this was the first time ever I wear halfmoon shawl!
Alhamdulillah, it was nice!! (
puas hati sangat2)
His side came around 11.45am. When the event has started, I just stayed in the room with Wan and chit chat with her. She told me about her experience years ago. It was very quite as everyone was at the hall listening to the pantun seloka and discussion. So, at 12.20pm Makndak called me and asked me to come out and go to the dais. This is the time. This is the moment. I was nervous at first but as I walked, the feeling just fade away. Mom putting on the risik ring and later Umi putting my engagement ring. Then, we took pictures and I salam-ed everyone who came for the event. When everyone went down to eat, Peke called my fiance to come and take pictures. Huhu. He wore yellow baju melayu and no samping. Ish3... He didn't plan to come actually. That's why. The cousins took our pictures and later I took pictures with both hantarans. Then, I went down and joined the crowd.
I feel blessed and happy. :) Ama and her family came at 2.30pm where the guests went back already.
Do pray that this relationship ends with marriage. We plan to get married somewhere next year during the school holidays in May and June or if not probably right after Raya.
