Happy Birthday Everettino!

OK, so I know that I have been slacking on my blogging, but for some reason this past week has been really crazy. Yesterday we celebrated Everett's birthday and Lincoln was blessed. It was a great day and I was glad that we were able to do both at the same time. The rotten part about the day was that I couldn't find my camera and so I don't have any pictures of Everett opening his birthday presents, eating his animal cupcakes, or of Lincoln before he was blessed (sad huh).

Today is Everett's official birthday and we are so lucky to have him. He is what Preston would call a "white rhino". He is always rising to the challenges of life. He is strong...physically, mentally and spiritually, and to top it off he has a great personality with a sweet and kind heart. He is all the best parts of both Preston and I. I love being his mother and although at times it is challenging, every moment is worth it

Here is a video showing how awesome Everett is. Everett thought it was hilarious every time Lincoln would hiccup (Everett is also wearing Lincoln's hat on his head).

Devil Talk

Hey, hey, hey, the comments are starting to get out of control...Danielle and Shauna. :) No devil talk around here.

P.S. If you don't know what "devil talk" is I'll explain it at a later time. :)

Anyway, back to business. Here is the picture I promised of the exterior walls.

My Husbands 2nd Wife

Image

Here is the Foundation to our House

Image
They started framing at the beginning of this week and here is a picture of the basement walls. They have all the exterior walls up and it is coming along great! I tried taking a picture today of the exterior walls, but the picture came out really dark so I will post that picture tomorrow.

I've been so proud of Preston. He is the General Contractor for our house and has done an amazing job of getting this all put together, and making sure our guys stay on schedule. It is consuming all his free time, which is why I call our house his 2nd wife. It is even consuming his subconsciousness.

For example:
Two nights ago I woke up in the wee hours of the morning to feed Lincoln. I was so tired that I asked Preston to change Lincoln's diaper for me and then burp him. That way I could catch a little shut eye. Preston replied, "Ok, but just make sure you use the right Engineered plans." And then he started talking about our lumber for the house. Needless to say I changed Lincoln's diaper myself.

In all the madness of house building and new baby we still have time to have fun and take in the simple things of life. Here is Everett pretending that he is the baby. After he pretended for 5 seconds that he was a baby, he decided that it was much more fun to pretend he was a turtle. What a character!

Whoever wants to be like Michelle Ramirez raise your hand!

Ok, so I have to give a little shout out to my dear friend Michelle. She is amazing! Here is a little bit about her. She is a Mom of 3 boys and is never late to anything! Amazing...I know. She makes having 3 boys look easy. Her boys are happy and love their mother. She keeps her husband in line :), and always has great advice. She is also a master chief of yummy baked goods. And if that doesn't make you jealous she is beautiful and is like a size 2!
The funny thing is I visit taught Michelle for a long time and always wanted to be her friend. But with visiting teaching you don't want to look like you're only being nice because it's your job. After she moved we have become such good friends. I know the Lord knew what he was doing, I guess I should remember he always does.

Michelle you are the most thoughtful person I know! I hope you know how amazing you are!

P.S. On a side note we just found out that my sister-in-law is pregnant! Welcome grand baby number 7! I love family and good friends!

Due Date

Image

Yesterday was my due date, but I think this was a much better way to spend it...making my new little baby pose with Pooh Bear.

Here are the boys in Dinosaur P.J.'s. I love having boys!

The Lees boys. Weird thing is Lincoln looks nothing like Everett when Everett was born. As you can see Lincoln has blonde hair which is so strange to me. Preston says that Lincoln looks like me. I can't tell yet. Guess we will have to wait and see.

P.S. I used to think that it would be great to look like Dolly Parton (if you know what I mean)...Just to let you know...not so great!

Baby, Lincoln Thomas Lees

Saturday Night

Sunday Afternoon

Saturday afternoon I went to my baby shower. It was so much fun! We ate yummy treats and had pedicures and manicures. I got awesome gifts from all of my wonderful, dear friends. The baby shower ended around 4:30. Then at 6 Preston, Everett, and I went out to dinner with our friends at this new Italian place here in Rexburg. It had been such a great day. After dinner we planned to go over to our friends house and watch a movie. As I got out of the car I felt a pop and then all this water went running down my legs. I was in shock! People's water breaks only on the movies...not in real life! Anyway, to make a long story short at around 7 am in the morning I headed over to the hospital. I had been having strong contractions all night long. I was preparing myself to go to the hospital and have them say I was only at a 3. Well, luckily I was at an 8! I stayed at the hospital and Preston, Kelly (my doula), and I walked the hospital halls telling each other jokes and getting excited for when the moment would come for us to see little Lincoln. Everything went so great! He was born at 12:40, weighing in at 8 lbs and 19 1/2 inches long. I was able to have a natural delivery just like I had hoped and planned. I feel very blessed!

He is so cute! I thought that Everett would have a really hard time dealing, but I am amazed at how much he loves his baby brother. Everett is very protective of Lincoln and likes to hold him and "pet" him on the head. Lincoln already has his very own little personality. He loves to eat, and is very patient. He is a very happy and easy baby. We are all doing well and are so grateful for our new little addition to the Lees Family!

A Night with a Turtle

Image

It all started at playgroup...

Super Mom, Katie Smith showed us this cute little turtle, the size of a quarter, that she had recently gotten from her sister. Of course for Everett, the animal lover, it was love at first sight. Katie said that a girl was selling them for 10 dollars, and I asked Katie for the number so that I could get one for Everett. I thought it would be a great early birthday present.

Because I am obsessive, I went home and found the number on my own and then called the "turtle people". They didn't answer...so I left a message. I knew if I didn't act quick I would miss out on these adorable little turtles that my son loved so much, so later on in the day I called them again. They still didn't call me back...so not trying to look desperate I had my sister call them (I know I sound insane!). She couldn't get a hold of them either.

Preston had come home from work and just as we were going to bed he said, "Oh yeah, the "turtle people" called and I gave them our home phone." It was already 9:30 so I thought I should call them, seeing as how they hadn't called me yet. I called the "turtle people" and asked if they had any turtles left. She said that they did, but that I would have to come and get them right now, because there were a couple of other people interested.

*Side note- Sorry this story is so long, but it is well worth reading (if I do say so myself).

Anyway, I told Preston we would have to get the turtle right then. He looked at me like, "OK, well go get the turtle then." But I begged him to get it for me ( I was already in my pajamas). He said that he didn't want a turtle because they stink and he didn't want to have to smell it when he came home. I seriously begged him like a child for 5 minutes, and I thought to myself, "Who is this turtle really for?" He reluctantly went and got the turtle. He brought it home and I was so excited to show it to Everett in the morning. I told Preston that I was going to quickly read up on how to take care of the turtle and then I would head to bed. As I sat reading up on this turtle I found out that they live for 50 years!!! And that they carry salmonella, and that they might have worms or parasites and so you should take their poop to a Vet to get it checked out, and that they can grow to 12 inches long. By that time my cute little turtle didn't look so cute anymore. I laid in bed thinking about what I was going to do with this turtle. Should I keep it? I couldn't tell Preston that I had changed my mind after the fuss I put up. I didn't know what to do.

I called my little sister and told her what happened. She told me I could sell the turtle to her roommates, because they had heard about the "turtle people" and wanted to get a turtle themselves. So early tomorrow morning I am sneaking the turtle out (so Everett does not see it) and taking it to my sister's apartment where I will literally wash my hands of it!

Moral to the Story...If you are not a Super Mom (like Katie Smith), and you obsess over something, while then making a rash decision...you will find yourself bearing your soul to your blog late at night knowing that you should be asleep because you will be tired in the morning, and you will realize that you are insane and need professional help...just kidding on that last part, but take my advice and get a good nights rest knowing you don't have to spend it with a turtle.

My son, the animal lover! He is wearing a dog bag on his head. He thought it was hilarious...it really was!

If my Scriptures were on the New York Best Seller's List

Image
I've been thinking about this a lot. Why is it that we can consume our time with so many other things and not focus on the things that matter? I have been so bad at reading my scriptures lately. President Adar gave us a challenge in our ward to find 30 min. a day of time to spend with our scriptures. It has been on my mind and I think about it constantly, but I can't seem to find the time. I wonder if I could find the time if my Scriptures were on the New York Best Seller's list...if you know what I mean. I don't know...what do you think? How do you find the time?
