retrodivas five steps to glowing skinAh, the dream of glowing, perfect skin. We all crave it, few of us actually have it. But there are easy steps you can take to ratchet up your glow factor, and none of them involve a day spa or fancy equipment. Just make sure to do them regularly, and you will see glowing results.

  1. Cleanse with the right cleanser. Not everyone needs an exfoliating cleanser all the time – that abrasion and irritation may be contributing to your breakouts. Choose your cleanser wisely based on your skin’s unique needs.
  2. Exfoliate once a week (maybe more, if your skin needs it). Just because you don’t need an exfoliating cleanser doesn’t mean you get to skip exfoliation altogether. Exfoliating is one of the best ways to increase your glow. Choose a microdermabrasion mask or a peel. Follow the instructions carefully, and watch the glow happen.
  3. Steam your pores. This is one of those tricks that can be used as often as needed. Boil water, pour carefully into a large bowl. Bend over it with your face about three inches from the water, and drape a towel over your head. Try to relax for about 10 to 15 minutes. Feeling green-goddessy? Add herbs to your water. Chamomile and lavender for irritated or dry skin, rosemary or thyme for normal skin, and tea tree oil for problematic skin.
  4. Nourish, moisturize, and hydrate. Every skin needs excellent moisture. Yes, even oily skin – especially oily skin after a round of exfoliation. Dry flaky skin is not glowing. Choose a hydrating cream and use it religiously before bed. Remember to take special care of the undereye area, and use an anti-aging formulation if necessary.
  5. Choose light-reflecting makeup when you need to boost your glow. There are so many excellent formulations out there for every budget. Just look for “light reflecting pigments” and remember to go easy. Use highlighters and primers for an extra boost.

Skin Whitening Tips # 1
Sunscreen is a skin whitening secret. No kidding. The suns UV rays affect our skin causing sunburn, even when we are indoors. More so, there are several constituents in our surroundings that cause the melanin rate to increase. Sunscreen creams, help reduce the effect of the UV rays, and stop the increasing melanin rate. After regular use over a period of time, it starts reducing the melanin as well. Melanin are the skin darkening cells. As such it is clear, reduction on melanin leads to fairer skin. Read more on skin care.

Skin Whitening Tips # 2
Moisturizing is also a very important method for skin whitening. Drying of the skin often results in skin darkening. More so, dry skin tends to get tanned faster. As such, keeping your skin moisturized at all times is a sure fire way to making it fairer. Make sure that all your exposed skin is kept moisturized. This also helps in keeping your skin supple and smooth. I would call it, touchable!

Skin Whitening Tips # 3
Tomato has bleaching effects. It is a natural skin lightener. Rubbing tomato on the skin is one of the best way to bleach the skin without any harmful chemicals. It has best effects when the tomato is cold. Cut it in half and rub the internal part of the tomato on your skin. Rub it for around 10 minutes and then leave it on for around 20 to 25 minutes. Then wash it off with cold water. The skin might seem dry after this skin whitening treatment, so best is to put on moisturizer after that. It is one of the natural skin whitening tips.

Skin Whitening Tips # 4
Wheat flour is a great secret to fair soft skin. Mix wheat flour with water, making it a thin paste. Rub it on to the skin. Make sure that you have applied it evenly on the skin. Leave it on for around 15 to 20 minutes. While washing it off, rub it on the skin like a scrub. Dab dry your face to avoid too much friction on the skin. Regular wheat flour treatment, like once a week, is a great way to have soft, supple and fair skin. Basiclly, it is a sure fire answer to the question, how to look hot.

Skin Whitening Tips # 5
Papaya extract is great for the skin and hair. While eating it is great for the eyes, skin, hair and the digestive system. Applying it as a pack on the skin works well for skin whitening. Mash the papaya, cool it, and apply it on your skin. Leave it on for around 20 minutes. Lounge around while you wait. Wash it off after the stipulated time. Dry your face lightly. You will not only notice your skin tone to be fairer, but a soft glow as well.

Skin Whitening Tips – Bonus Note
There are many lifestyle changes that can help you make your skin a shade fairer, if not more. Reduce coffee intake. Coffee is responsible for increasing the body toxin level as well as the heat. This leads to increase melanin count, hence, making the skin darker. Reducing coffee intake will lead to a slow and steady whitening process of the skin. To increase the speed, ensure that you drink 4 to 5 liters of water on a daily basis. This will help flush out the toxins from the body faster. More so, the glow on the skin will be more prominent.

Get rid of 'em!

What is the cause of blackheads?
Blackheads are caused when sebum (the skin's natural oil) collects and hardens in the pores. The congesting toxins that are being expelled through your skin from the blood and lymph fluid combines with sebum creating a pasty glue. The exposed tip becomes oxidized and black, hence the name - blackheads . Oily and combination skins are most susceptible to these. The skin's most dense oil glands are located in T-zone. That is why there you get the most blackheads.

How to get rid of blackheads?
Step 1 - Cleanse the face thoroughly with a good cleanser meant for oily skin. Preferrably use a salicylic acid cleanser such as this one, Joey NY Pure Pores Cleansing Gel/ MaryKay Acne Prone Cleanser to get rid of blackheads

Step 2 - Apply an astringent. It helps reduce oiliness. If its a bit harsh mix a bit of rose water in it. You can find some good astringents at Greatskin.com ( Just type "astringent" in the search product box) or get avon (clearskin) or marykay (acne prone)

Step 3 - Apply a good quality medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away the blackheads. You can get creams or gels of Benzoyl Peroxide treating blackheads If benzoyl peroxide leaves your skin dry, apply an oil-free moisturizer after 10 mins of applying benzoyl peroxide.

A drug named " adapalene " does wonder in reducing the blackhead formation by stimulation of skin growth through modulation of cellular differentiation and keratinization of follicular epithelial cells, i.e. it encourages skin peeling. (However, adapalene is mainly used to treat acne vulgaris by assisting in keeping skin pores clear.)

Apply a thin film of adapalene gel once daily before bedtime. Its mainly available in the form of "Differin". You can get differin here Its highly recommended! A word of caution though, adapalene can increase the sensitivity of skin to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight, so prolonged exposure should be avoided by judicious use of sunscreens and protective clothing.

Following this routine, in a matter of days you will be getting rid of blackheads.

Effective Tips to get rid of blackheads
•Exfoliate the blackhead prone area 3-4 times a week using facial exfoliators and scrubs. Here is a good SCRUB for you to help you to get rid of blackheads
•Use creams containing AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Fruit acids) like glyco-creams that will clear away any dead skin cells and "expose" the blackhead. Use the AHA's every 3 days or so.
•Keep your hair away from your face. Greasy hair and skin go together, and hair can spread infection.
•Sunshine or ultra-violet light encourages skin peeling, and so helps to clear blocked pores. So sunbathing or use of sun-beds in moderation can be helpful.
•Avoid washing the face with soaps more than twice a day. Instead wash your face often with plain water splashes.
•Often use a mask with a clay base such as ZIRH's Clay Mask
To squeeze or not to squeeze?
If blackheads look ready to pop out, you could try removing them gently by using a blackhead extractor. This is a neat little instrument with a hole at one end, available from chemists. Pressure around the blackhead helps it to pop out through the hole. Also, Pore cleanser strips (blackhead extractor) for removal of blackheads. are highly recommended for the treatment/removal of blackheads. Using them once per week will leave your pores cleaner and smaller.

Otherwise use your fingers. Steam your face first to soften both the skin and the material blocking the pores. Then wrap the fingers in tissues and gently roll against either side of the blackhead. If it won't budge easily, leave well alone, as too much pressure will bruise and break the skin, making your face red and blotchy for days to come, and possibly leaving tiny broken veins. Finish by applying a medicated cream to the empty pore.

Only ever squeeze a spot with a definite head that looks about to burst - pressure on an unready infected spot spreads bacteria below the skin's surface, infecting the surrounding tissue. Bad spots need a doctor's advice, and he may suggest antibiotic or even hormone therapy.

4 Foundation Rules We Swear By

Easy ways to achieve a natural, flawless finish.

When you're rushing to get out of the house, a quick swipe of lipstick or mascara is probably all the makeup you have time for. But for a special occasion -- or whenever you want to look your best -- foundation is the secret to a polished appearance that still looks soft and natural.

No one wants a look that seems fake and heavy, so it's essential to choose the right formula and shade. If applied with a light touch, a foundation can subtly hide redness and even out your skin tone naturally.
To achieve pretty, glowing skin that looks like it's your own, not a mask, try these simple tips from Ildiko, a well-known makeup artist in New York City.

1. Choose the right formula for your skin type

First, look for a foundation that provides sheer, light or medium coverage. (Check the label for those terms.) These give enough coverage to blend away blotchiness and make skin look brighter, but not so much so the makeup won't blend into skin.

The best formula for you depends on your skin type:

  • Dry or normal skin: Choose a liquid or cream formula whose label indicates it’s moisturizing or anti-aging. These types typically contain extra hydrating ingredients, such as glycerin, niacinamide or vitamin E to keep skin soft and smooth.
  • Oily skin: Unlike dry skin, your complexion has too much moisture. Avoid extra in your makeup by choosing a liquid foundation that is oil-free and mattifying. Or pick a mineral powder foundation. Both absorb excess oil, keeping your skin shine-free and your makeup in place.
  • Sensitive, blotchy skin: If skin needs a little extra coverage to hide redness or other pigmentation, opt for foundation that comes in a stick. A concealer-foundation hybrid, this formula delivers extra pigment.

2. Find the right shade

Most makeup lines offer more colors of foundation than your local pizza place has toppings. To find your perfect match, pick out two or three and compare them on or against your skin.

"You can't rely on the back of your hand since it's rarely the same shade as your face," says Ildiko. Instead, use your jaw and neck area. If you're shopping at a department store or beauty chain, test each directly on your skin. "At the drugstore, hold each of the bottles up to your face and neck," says Ildiko. Then buy the closest match.

3. Apply for natural results

Although most foundation rookies run into trouble when it comes to shade or formula, how you apply the make up can mean the difference between looking good and looking so good your friends and spouse shower you with compliments. Follow these easy steps:

  1. Start with fresh skin. Always wash and moisturize your skin first. Give your moisturizer about a minute to absorb before applying foundation.
  2. Use only where needed. With liquid or stick foundation, place a few dots where you see discoloration. If you use powder, concentrate only on the parts where skin seems uneven. The most common spots are cheeks, around your nose and on your chin. "If any area doesn't need coverage, such as your forehead, skip it," says Ildiko. "Targeted spot application looks the most natural." Then, blend it outward toward your hairline and jaw.
  3. Blend liquid and stick foundation. You can use your fingers, but a damp sponge dilutes the makeup slightly, giving you sheerer, lighter coverage.
  4. Use a Kabuki brush for powder formulas. Kabuki brushes are soft and fluffy, similar in shape to a men's shaving cream brush. To use it, dip the tips of bristles into the powder, then tap them against the jar's edge to shake off excess. Next, press the bristle tips flat against skin and blend in the foundation using a circular motion.
  5. Add more if necessary. Always apply less makeup than you think you need and build up to the coverage that looks best. It's easy to apply more; removing excess is time-consuming and frustrating.

4. Set your makeup

Lightly dust on translucent powder to help the foundation stay in place. However, skip this step if you have very dry skin or use a powder foundation: Your makeup is less likely to shift or wear off, so you don't need powder.

Skincare tips

It is quite common that we easily get attracted to beautiful things. Thus, it is our nature to keep ourself beautiful. As a first step in achieving this, skin care holds an important place.

The idea of skin care is as old as human civilization. In fact, there are series of myths and stories are related to skin care. Like it is said that pollens of plants were used to take care of the skin. And how can we forget the most famous Queen of history- Cleopatra. It is said her secret of glowing skin lies in bathing with milk and honey.

A good skin care not only helps in glowing the skin, but makes you feel good from inside also. Include skin care into your daily routine and see the difference. One of the basic aspect of skin care that is applicable to all skin types is healthy diet and drinking adequate amount of water everyday.

Stay away from fast foods and take green leafy vegetables and colorful fruits- that is secret of healthy and glowing skin. The second aspect is choose skin care according to your skin type and try to include natural ingredients in your skin care.

Skin Care for Normal Skin

Normal skin tends to be extremely healthy and thus never suffers from any skin problem. A perfect skin care for normal skin would be cleansing and moisturizing. With mild cleansing and oil free moisturizer, your skin will feel hydrated and moisture remains locked inside the pores. You can use botanical ingredients like jasmine oil, lavender oil for nourishment. You can also use honey and camphor to strike the right oil balance and never allow the skin to experience any clogged pore condition During, seasonal changes also normal skin requires less attention and mild moisturizer will be enough for your skin.

Skin Care for Oily Skin

If you have over active glands, chances are there you will have oily skin. When skin produces too much sebum, the skin pores gets clogged and thus contribute to several problems. The best way to tackle oily skin is to eat food enriched with sources of B2. This would include whole grains, wheat grams, nuts and beans. There is a common myth that oily skin does not require hydration. This is fully wrong as it is extremely important that skin should remain hydrated. Though it might sound unconventional, a good moisturizer can help you in keeping your skin hydrated. This is because if your skin suffers from dehydration, this would only contribute to added skin problems.

Skin care for Dry Skin

This type of skin condition is just opposite the oily skin, i.e. the skin produces low sebum. Use natural vegetable oil like almond or olive oil to fight with the dryness of skin. In fact, for treating dry skin, you can try famous bath of Cleopatra. Milk baths are very effective in dealing with dry condition of skin. Add almond oil and powdered milk to warm water and bath daily and see the difference.

Skin care and beauty are related to each other in great extent. No one can separate these two vital terms. They are the identity of modern age. Every woman wants to link them together. That means, after relating these two terms, you get a fresh, younger appearance. Skin care is therefore, essential part of your beauty treatments. You might have tried various cosmetic products on the skin. But the ravishing look comes when you apply them in proper way. If you can focus on a strict but simple skin care regime, you will definitely become satisfied. Find below some beauty skin care tips.

How to do skin care therapy?

Cleansing the skin

The basic part of skin care treatment involves in clearing the skin. You go through numerous kinds of dirty elements. These make the skin rough and harsh. Also your skin produces sebum, the oily substance. Excessive production of sebum may cause pimples and acne. To solve such condition, buy a good cleanser. It should be applied everyday at least twice or thrice. Whenever, coming back home, use this cleanser. It will help you to get complete relaxation. For enjoying a fresh and enhanced face, do this process regularly.

Exfoliation improves the skin texture

Scrub helps to remove dead skin cells. You can apply a scrub to eliminate all negative aspects from the skin. But, it should be remembered that the scrub must be used with gentle care. Don't rub your face with a scrub. Only twice a week, go for this exfoliation process.

Moisturizer for smooth effects

Hydrate the skin with the help of moisturizer. You must use it daily on the skin. Your face will become smooth and soft. It is must before sleep. After each wash, you must prefer to apply moisturizer on the skin.

Sunscreen lotion
Everyday, you go through lots of work. For managing your schedule, you move outside and face the harmful sun rays. The UV ray creates great damage to the skin. Therefore, choose a sunscreen formula with SPF 15 at least. It will protect the skin from the UV rays.

Homemade skin care tips

  • If you want to go with natural elements, choose some homemade recipes. To exfoliate the skin, take a tomato pulp. Mix it with rose water and honey. Now gently massage the face with this mixture. Leave it for a few minutes. Now wash the with normal water. Apart from facial skin, this recipe is effective for body skin too. It is also useful to treat acne and pimples. Enjoy the smooth effect instantly on the skin.

  • Turmeric powder gives great glowing skin therapy. You may mix some turmeric powder with orange juice. This paste will make your skin glowing and supple. Keep the mixture on the face for 15 to 20 minutes. Now wash off the skin.

  • Prepare a mixture using equal amount of lemon juice and rose water. Using cotton ball apply it on the face. This will help you to add glow and freshness to the skin. It is good as anti-acne remedy too.

Melacap whitening set

I know Ive been away for quite a long time. Sorry to keep you guys waiting .
Soooooooooo ... after my miracle set is done , i open up my MelacapWhiteningSet!!! I heard that it is specially produce for asians. So anyway i'm liking the results . When you're fair, you tend to have obvious pigmentation. And the results after 3 usage of the whitening mask, the dark spots are less to be seen.

Tell me more about this set.

Well...

The innovations behind the new MelaCEP™ Whitening Systems are the result of extensive research, development and testing in the Mary Kay laboratories. Our skin care scientists studied the multiple reasons that lead to uneven skin tone. And after their extensive research into the science of pigmentation, they focused on an approach unlike that of other whitening products.

The Mary Kay scientists discovered that if they addressed the multiple reasons why uneven skin tone develops - instead of focusing on just one cause - they could develop products that could be even more effective.

How uneven skin tone is formed

  1. Exposure to UV light triggers skin damage.
  2. "Damage signals" are sent to the cells in the skin where melanin is produced.
  3. These signals cause the increased activity of skin cells called melanocytes.
  4. The MITF gene is activated to make pigment-producing enzymes such as tyrosinase and TRP-1.
  5. Pigment-producing enzymes, such as tyrosinase, convert the amino acid tyrosine into melanin that collects in melanosomes.
  6. Melanosomes are transferred to keratinocytes that travel to the skin's surface, causing uneven pigmentation.

At the heart of the system is the MelaCEP™ Whitening Complex, a patent-pending blend of four key ingredients that is a part of every product’s formula:

- kakadu plum : a fruit native to Australian outback

- ferula foetida extract : native to Mediterranean & known to contain ferulic acid

- helianthus annuus seed extract : from the sunflower , a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect against UV damage.

- lactobacillus ferment : a skin conditioning ingredient

The MelaCEP™ Whitening Complex, working together with 13 other botanical extracts plus sunscreen ingredients, enables the MelaCEP™ Whitening System to deliver multitargeted benefits.

THE BENEFITS FOR YOU <3 class="style6">The MelaCEP™ Whitening System combines the science of innovation with the power of nature to target the multiple reasons for uneven skin tone.

  • Protect against UV damage

  • Help keep cells from producing melanin

  • Help regulate the MITF gene critical for pigment synthesis

The MITF gene provides instructions for making a protein that ultimately helps control the production of certain enzymes like tyrosinase and TRP1. The MelaCEP™ Whitening System contains ingredients that help regulate the activity of these enzymes, controlling the development and function of pigment-producing cells called melanocytes. This potentially reduces the key proteins responsible for making pigment.

  • Help inhibit the activity of tyrosinase

This system contains the potent ingredient ascorbyl glucoside, which is known to be a powerful tyrosinase inhibitor. Inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase is critical because it is an enzyme that converts the simple amino acid tyrosine into melanin.

  • Help inhibit the transfer of melanin to the skin’s surface

After melanin-filled melanosomes are transferred to the keratinocytes, they travel upwards to the skin’s surface, causing uneven pigmentation to appear. The MelaCEP™ Whitening System contains ingredients that work together to help reduce this transfer of melanin to the surface of the skin.

  • Help increase skin turnover to reveal smoother and brighter skin

Instead of relying solely on physical exfoliation, which works on the uppermost layer of the skin, the MelaCEP™ Whitening System also contains ingredients which help the natural process that allows pigment-free skin cells to rise to the surface, revealing smoother, brighter and more even-toned skin.

Tips from the library

Recently ive found out this while walking down the shelf. And i could only remember this, which i thought it would be helpful for all of you.

What i state are the importances that you need to focus on at that time of age .

In your 20s : Prevention
- consider night solution (such as retinol cream)
- anti aging product as a prevention as some Teens nowadays own wrinkles already.

30s : Exfoliation
- Skin begins to get thinner
- Add sunscreen and anti oxidants, time to concentrate on cell turn over. ( Do use microdermabrasion) Least once or twice month.

40s : Stimulation
- Microdermabrasion on weekly basis.

50s : Firming
- collagen

But as for me , i all of the above its best when you start earlier. Plus with the every massage will be best .

Image

After dying my hair twice in 3yrs, my hair is kinda dry. look so sloopy like thick dirt .I feel like cutting my hair off :( after waiting for my hair to grow long due to cutting so short last two years. In another way, while shopping in johor i found montouch professional recovery complex shine serum. By two days using it, my hair seems fresher . the curls and wave ...i like ! In order to look 'em seems mouturize, i take a shower before bed time. Had my shampoo, conditioner but! comb it during that time. Its easier without forcing. Start combing from the end of your hair to the roots. After shower i'll apply my control leave on conditioner. Then i'll apply the serum. Next part will be SLEEPING TIME! :)
Somehow the next day, it seems so much better and better.
Here's a picture when i let down my hair after a week using it.
