Hi!

My name is Jana K Gusich and I am the person behind both JAKIGU and Silvergence.

JAKIGU is an abbreviation of my full name & my creative online alter ego.

I became Pinterest-famous back in the day when Pinterest ruled socials for designing modern and functional crochet items and for writing awesomely detailed crochet manuals to help you recreate them at home. My Jute & Cotton basket crochet pattern series remains legendary more than a decade later.

These days, I balance a full time job in higher education and parenthood and constantly struggle to find enough hours in the day to have a chance to also be a pretty good crochet designer, a decent photographer, an inconsistent blogger, and a lousy web developer who has fallen in love with metalsmithing.

“JAKIGU, much like myself, has been influenced by people from dozens of lands and languages, and their experiences, stories, and culture. It may not be what you expected when you clicked a link somewhere and which brought you here, but today this online space stands as a testament to personal growth and evolution shaped by willingness to experiment, acceptance of trials and errors, and the countless lessons learned along the way.”
