Babies First Picture!
We had our first official Dr.'s apt last Thursday and everything checked out great. The baby had a great heartbeat and we could see the start of it's little arms and legs! Our next apt is September 18... we'll have a little looksie again!
as for me... ugh... I'm just hoping to stop puking and feeling nauseated! I think we should be getting close to that goal!

5
August 16, 2008

Last Saturday was Jeremy and my 5th Anniversary! Who knew time could fly by so quickly! I'd like to say I remember our wedding like it was yesterday but that would be a lie! It was such a whirlwind of activity that it seemed like it was over as soon as it started. I do remember what an awesome party we had after the ceremony though! Any how 5 years... I know in the grand scheme of things 5 years is not all that long... and some of you will read and laugh and say I'm on 15 or 25... but it's kinda a first milestone... we've surpassed that ugly statistic that way to many marriages will end after just 3 years or less. So even though it hasn't always been easy, anything worth having is not... we made it. And with a few accomplishments! and some really awesome kids!

Toy & Product Recall

I am always amazed that each and every time I check the recall list I find something we have purchased that is on the list. I find it very disturbing that all of these items can make it to the shelves of stores, for us to spend our hard earned dollar on and then give to our priceless children, only to find some time later that the item was not fit to be played with in the first place. What is even more disturbing to me is that when you read the reports of how this item came to be recalled it is because a child's life was put in danger... ie. choking on small parts. The regulations of toys or other products sold for our children should be such that these problems are found BEFORE they are put in the hands of our kids!
a few items we have in our home that have been recalled:
1) our very expensive Pottery Barn crib.... i was pretty pissed about that since my kid had been sleeping in it since almost day 1... and to top it off they wouldn't give me my money back but replaced it with a new version... they said the PB return policy was for items purchased within the last 90 days. And as far as I could tell the original was made the same as the replacement.... ugh
2) Britax carseat... which I purchased at a high cost as well b/c they are supposed to be the best
3) my newest find... our Fisher Price Laugh-In-Learn kitchen which has been in my home since Christmas... it's recall report was of small children gaging and almost chokeing and chokeing on small parts... once again do they offer a full refund for this item, of course not just simply a replacement part that will take 3 to 5 weeks to recieve.
In my opinon if they can't make it right the first time I should beable to return that item for a FULL refund, no questions asked. But then again heaven forbid Corporate American be responsible for their actions!
so after my rant I just wanted to remind all of my Mommy friends to check the recalls and check them often. And most importantly keep and eye on your kids at all times and don't assume that just because you purchased something at a major chain, that is a major brand and has a reputation for saftey is safe for your kids. I would hate for one of our children to be the child that gets the recall put in place!

Visit from Texas & Six Flags
This weekend Uncle Rick, Aunt Kimberlee, Cousin Alyssa and Kyle stayed the night with us on the way up to their summer vacation in Vail. As always we enjoy their company so much ... normally it's on their turf but this time we got to have them here at our house! Adie had a great time....

After the family left we headed off to Six Flags for another day of rides and adventure...

Rocky Mountain National Park
We took the kids on a drive up to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.... it's one of Jeremy and my favorites drives. We take a full day and drive throught the park and down into Winter Park for dinner. We normally take this drive in October when the aspen tress are changing colors ... it's so pretty. This time we saw beautiful flowers in bloom, snow left over from last winter (so that never melts) and deer and elk. The elk were really cool... only about 10 feet from us... Wow!
