SO much.

Back Again...

Saturday, May 21, 2011

I've recently become a frequent reader of some of my friends' and family members' blogs. Whenever I check to see who has updated, I'm always disappointed when nobody has... I figured, if I'm going to be disappointed when others don't update their blogs, how can I NOT update my own??

Also... its the perfect forum to brag about my baby.

Now, to play a little catch up...

We moved to Parker from Guam. Its been SO awesome being close to our fam again, but we def miss our island family. Thank goodness its so easy to keep in touch these days.

Jeff has been teaching and coaching at his old high school and I've been working for a program called Educational Talent Search ( for more info on what I do, click HERE) I miss teaching but I've really been enjoying the work. I'll have a little more flexibility with it next year, which will be nice with Mac.. Which brings me to the next big event...

McAulay "Mac" David Wheatley was born on March 24, 2011. And he was & is perfect!

He decided he wanted to come earlier than we wanted... I went into pre-term labor at the end of February (which was kind of scary... 2 visits to the hospital in 1 weekend is way more than I ever care to have...) The Doc put me on bed rest & meds to keep Mac at bay. I wasn't due until April 15, but... Didn't make it. Mac came on March 24.

That afternoon, around lunch time are started feeling like I was having menstrual cramps... They persisted throughout the day, and by the time Jeff got home he said I should probably call the Doc, just to be safe... I called, he said I should come in so off we went. We were hoping this was it, we were over the drives to the Havasu Hospital... When we checked in around 9:30, I had already dilated to a 6 (which is big... nobody, including myself, suspected I was that far along...) a hectic few hours later, Mac arrived at 1:43 AM. And now...

We're parents.

Its weird how the Mom/Dad thing just sort of... happens.

I've been home with Mac since, and he'll be 2 months next week. I can't believe it! He's AWESOME.

That's the update.

So... Here's to regular blog updates from yours truly...

Spring Break w/ the Gam Clan

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Spring Break was about a month ago... So, in blogging tradition, I decided to FINALLY post, & update the world on the Gamett's Spring Break. Jeff & I were grateful for the week off school, & even more excited that Mom, Pops & David were headed to Guam for a visit. We were lucky be housesitting for some good friends of ours, so we had a little extra space for everyone... Thanks Monson's!

Here are some of the highlights:

1. Deep Sea Fishing - My yoga instructor does small fishing charters, and the boys are avid fishers, so they were stoked to head out for a morning, leave the girls behind and reel in some big ones... They ALL caught something... a few Wahoos, and a couple of Mahi-Mahi's... We're STILL eating fish!

Image

2. Driving Range - David wanted to head to the driving range for an afternoon - I was less then thrilled, (I'm not much of a Golf Pro) - but it turned out to be an awesome afternoon activity... Nathan, Jeff & I have even gone back a few times since....

Image

3. Tour de Guam - Everyone has to take the GRAND tour of our island... so, Mom, Dad & I headed out in the comfort of an air conditioned vehicle, & the boys took to the scooters... We spent the entire day driving down South, taking in the sites, food & even got a taste of the local culture... David & Nathan were set on getting a Sinahi (a traditional Chamoro necklace carved in the shape of a crescent moon out of giant clam shells or Carabou horns)... I gave our good friend David a call, he met us & we headed over to a friend of his, a carver who does it
as a hobby... He was incredibly generous... he was a true example of Chamorro hospitality...

Image

4. Ritidian - the most beautiful beach on Guam - white sand, and nothing for miles - you feel like you're on the edge of the world...

Image

5. The Fam - spending time w/ the Fam was AWESOME. We had some stellar family pictures taken on one of the beaches... Love the Fam. Love Guam. It was nice to have both @ the same time.

Ringin' in the New Year & Celebrating the 5th

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Its been a tradition since my Freshmen Year of College to celebrate Chinese New Year, thanks to my old college roomie. She's been showin' us how its done. This year we spent it with her and the rest of her fam, they've become a second family to us...
Image
The food was so YUMMY! We had dumplings, noodles, orange chicken, and a chinese checkers cake... Bring on the Year of the Tiger!

Image
Valentine's Day was the same weekend. Jeff surprised me with a Massage at one of the Spa's and a homemade 3 Course Dinner, complete with Sparkling Cider (my fav).
Image
He cooked one of his favorites, Chicken Parmesean, and it was SO good!

This V-Day was the 5th Anniversary of our 1st Date.. 5 Years, can you believe it? I can't! I'm grateful I landed him.. He's a definite keeper.

Super Bowl Monday..

According to Jeff, and several others, the Super Bowl is hands down, the biggest, best Sports Spectacle in the WORLD. Last year, we missed it. We're about a day ahead on Guam, which means we get sports, TV, etc. broadcast the next day. So, instead of Super Bowl falling on a Sunday, like it does in the mainland, we get it on a Monday AM. Last year, we were working and missed it.. I think Jeff was pretty devastated.. This year, we were blessed with the Monday off! We decided to have a ridiculous breakfast, instead of the normal game day snacks.

Image

The Breakfast included: Bacon, Sausage, Homemade Donuts, French Toast, Cinnamon Rolls, & a scramble that included onions, peppers, bacon and sausage. It was a "Man's Breakfast", no doubt.
Image
We spent the entire mornin' watchin' the game and chowin'.

Image
The entire afternoon was spent in recovery... The "Man's Breakfast" was not kind to my stomach..
