Back to Work ... sigh

Well today is the last day of my maternity leave and I'm not too excited about it. How do I go to work and leave this little sweetie behind?! I have so enjoyed being at home with Lila these last 10 weeks. 10 weeks!? It's hard to believe that much time has passed. When I was pregnant, 10 weeks seemed like an eternity. I have been truly blessed with a darling little girl who loves to laugh and smile. She is a precious gift.
Thank goodness for my mother ... she is relocating to Opelika for the next 8 weeks to take care of Lila. Tomorrow would be soo much more difficult if I had to go ahead and put her in day care. I know many a woman have left their child to go back to work before ... it's not a new concept, but it's a lot harder when you're the one doing it!! My biggest fear is that someone else besides her mama is going to experience her firsts...
Anyway, now I'm rambling, but do keep me in your thoughts tomorrow. Not only do I have to leave little Lilabug, but I'm pretty sure my classroom is in complete chaos. At least in 8 weeks, I'll have 2 more months with her at home. Teaching does have it's benefits...

Crazy Dog and the Easter Bunny

Whew what a weekend! This little stinker below ... sigh. There are no words to describe Rudy's intellect. I swear he's the smartest dog alive. He has escaped from our backyard AND our screened-in porch more times than I can count. The bottom of our fence is boarded and staked, and all possible areas for holes are covered. So we think ... Everytime we're sure that there is no way Rudy can get out, he gets out. Thankfully, we're lucky enough to live in a very kind neighborhood and all of our neighbors look out for our ramblin' man. Well Friday night, I thought our luck had run out. He escaped and we couldn't find him anywhere. We got no calls from neighbors, no one had seen him ... he was gone. We drove around until 10 that night, and I even made fliers and hung them!! It was a really long night ... we were so upset, and woke up Saturday morning to no Rudy. :-( But alas, Rudy had made it over a couple of neighborhoods and befriended a mutt. The mutt's nice owners took Rudy in for the night and called his vet, and our Rudydog was home by lunch on Saturday. Needless to say, an electric fence was installed in our backyard today by my handy husband, and Rudy has already learned his lesson ... we think.

In Lilabug news, she met the Easter bunny today! After church we headed over to the mall to have her picture taken. She just laid in his arms and looked at him. We'll see if she's this easy-going when she meets Santa!
And she has spent the evening playing with Daddy. She is developing such a great little personality. She's so much fun to play with!

2 Month Check-up

This little sweetie had her 2 month check up this morning. She had her first round of vaccines, and boy, watching her get those shots was a tad bit hard. She did really well though, and she got a new toy to cheer her up :). Lila weighed in at 11lb, 9oz and was 23.25 inches long. She's in the 75th percentile for both. All in all, she's a very happy and healthy baby.

Just wanted to send a VERY Happy Birthday out to this little gal...She's one today!! (My picture collection is obviously in need of updating ... I believe a visit is in order soon, Sheltons!!)

Baseball, Birthday, and a Really Cute Gal

Saturday we headed to the ball park to watch our nephew, Jackson, play some ball. He played really well, his team won, and we enjoyed watching him!

After the ball game we headed to the lake to help Mimi celebrate her birthday! It was a great night full of family, friends, and great good! Happy Birthday Mimi!

And...of course I couldn't let a post go by without a few pictures of sweet Lila!

2 Months Old

Lila is 2 months old today!! Hard to believe! She's done a lot in the last month...

-She's taken to a pacifier ... It's mommy and daddy's new friend. It might be our enemy in a couple of years, but we'll fight that battle when it comes!

-She can grab her pacifier and pull it out of her mouth.

-She's rolled over in her crib.

-She's basically sleeps through the night ... even has a couple of times!

-She loves to lay on her play mat and play with her toys.

-She enjoys bathtime.

-She smiles and laughs and coos all the time! She's a really happy baby!

She DOES NOT like it when bottle time ends. She can not stand to have a bottle taken out of her mouth. She WILL pitch a fit!

We go to the doctor next Monday for her first well-baby visit and her first round of shots. :-( I'm anxious to see how much she's grown!

Weekend Getaway

Lila and I went to Madison this past weekend for a quick visit. My daddy came down to get us and drive us back up there -- 3.5 hours in a car, by myself, with an 8 week old seemed a little too scary -- and Josh came for us on Saturday. We really enjoyed our visit!

We also headed back to church where this little girl was a complete angel. She didn't make a single, solitary peep for the entire service!! She's such a good girl!

OH, and little Lilabug slept through the night every night we were there. She went to bed about 9 and slept till 6. IT WAS WONDERFUL! :)

7 Weeks

Lila's 1st Snow

Isn't it great?! It's been a long time since I've seen this much snow accumulated! The snow's been falling all morning, and it's still coming down just a little. We wrapped little Lila up and were in and out in a minute and a half flat.
