Fun on the Farm

We went to the neatest little birthday party for one of Lila's cousins today. Karlee turns 3 Tuesday, and they had her party at a petting zoo/farm. They took a hayride and saw some cows, and then once back at the farm, they could feed some ponies and see a camel. They also got to mingle among some goats, ducks, ponies, and a baby deer that lives on the farm. Lila even tried to ride a horse ... she got a little nervous once she was actually on him. She had a blast and loved being so up close to the animals. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

It's a...

Girl!!!!
ImageWe're excited to say that Clare Anne Cook is a healthy, if not stubborn little girl. I was afraid we were gonna walk out of the doctor's office and not know, but she finally cooperated. We're happy to add a little more pink to our house, and that Lila will have a little sister to run around with!

2 Years Old

It's hard to believe that in two years, we've gone from this precious baby...
Image to this precious little girl!!
ImageOh Time, where do you go??!!
Just some things about Lila at the age of 2:
1. We haven't had our well-baby check-up yet, but were at the doctor a couple of weeks ago because we had the flu! She weighed 27 lbs then.
2. She's got a mouthful of teeth, and 3 of her 4 2 year molars. The top left molar is still working it's way through, but not quite in yet. By the way, she's the best teether in the world though --- had no clue she was teething the molars on the right side, and one day I looked and they were there. Teeth have never really bothered her ... i.e.,no fever really, no sleepless nights.
3. She's very interested in the potty and asks lots of questions about it, but has yet to use one or be trained. We're hoping to accomplish that feat before Cookie (as we refer to Baby #2) arrives.
4. Speaking of Cookie, she kind of gets what's going on. We've talked about it a lot and if you ask where Mommy's baby is she'll point to my stomach. She'll talk to it a little, and will even kiss it. We'll see how she does with it arrives.
5. She still sleeps in her crib, and hasn't really tried to climb out of it. We are going to try moving her to a big girl bed/room during Spring Break. Wish us luck.
6. She's a people-person. She loves to flirt and talk to pretty much anyone. She doesn't really get too shy. She loves her grandparents, and she LOVES her Aunt Casey. Her favorite friend is Emory, but she loves all of her little school friends and cousins. She talks about them a lot and mentions them all in prayers at night when talking about who we're thankful for. She also loves her Sissy and the entire Brown clan.
7. She likes to look at pictures and identify people. She gets very proud when she gets it right. She likes seeing their faces...makes her smile.
8. She's very independent and likes to do things for herself...or at least try. She gets very frustrated if you just assume she can't do something. She'd rather try and then ask for your help, i.e., brushing her teeth or using utensils when eating. She can also be a bit bossy, and is often heard telling me or Josh to "Get up!"
9. She plays well by herself, and for a long time didn't like to be picked up or held. She's gotten a lot more cuddly, and likes to be held while reading a book, coloring or watching a movie.
10. She LOVES, LOVES her bunny that she sleeps with...he's a must-have in our house at bedtime.
11. She's gotten into baby dolls here recently and will carry them around, talk to them, push them in the stroller, and likes to sleep with them too.
12. She still likes to read, but has really gotten into coloring, puzzles and blocks recently.
13. She's also gotten in to T.V. :/ She likes watching Elmo (or anything Sesame Street), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Dora, and Barney.
14. She likes to sing. Some of her favorite songs include, Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E, Skin-a-ma-rink-a-dink, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, the Barney song, and You Are My Sunshine. She also will sing an older church song that I sing to her at bedtime.
15. She talks a lot and communicates very well. She can ask or tell you pretty much whatever she wants. Her manners are improving too ... she's getting good at please and thank you. She'll often ask "What oo doin' Mommy?" and will say "Lata" when she's leaving you in a room. She's also really good at the word "No." Ha...Time out is usually reserved for that one. She does use "b" for "v" so "heavy" comes out as "heaby." She also puts "me" at the end of phrases, like "Up me," or "Scat me" (if she sneezes).
16. She's a fairly decent eater. She has her days. She loves fruit and would rather have that over anything. She also loves ketchup -- just like her daddy -- and wants it with anything and everything.
17. Thank the Lord, that she's a healthy kid. We've only been to the doctor one time since her 18 month well baby check-up!

We're so lucky to have this little girl as our daughter and we love her to pieces!!
It'll be interesting to see what the next year has in store for us!!

Happy Birthday, Lila!!

We celebrated Lila's 2nd birthday today with a pretty low-key family and friend party at the house. We had a really good time, and I enjoyed being able to have such a great day for Lila. She's a very special little girl, and Josh and I are so proud of her. Happy 2nd Birthday, Lilabug! We love you very much!

Last Night...

Image as a 1 year old! Lila turns two tomorrow!
**Sniff, sniff** Where has the time gone?!

Circus

ImageImage We took Lila to the circus today to start her birthday weekend off right. We've never taken her to a show like this before, and I was worried about a few things...her being totally traumatized by the loud noises, animals, clowns, etc. and being able to sit through it all. She did get antsy, but she seemed to really enjoy it (as did Josh and me). She's talked about it all night ... about going and the things we saw. I was really looking forward to it, and it didn't disappoint! It was a great day with just my little family! :)

It's Great...

To be an Auburn Tiger!!!
Image

So excited about the game last night and being the National Champs! How great is it that the state of Alabama has had two teams in a row be the champs?! Image

We didn't get to go to Toomer's after the game last night ... my getting-over-the-flu, Alabama fan husband would only go so far and not let me drag our sleeping child out of the bed at 11:30 to do so. I guess I understand :) I did take Lila down to Toomer's this afternoon though, so we could still see all the toilet paper and be a part of the tradition. Brr...it was cold though!! We stayed just long enough to walk through the toilet paper haze and take a few pictures.ImageImage

Bring home that crystal ball boys!!

Hey, Hey

Image Just a picture from after church Sunday... Things have been crazy around here. Lila had the flu, now Josh has it. School started back, and I've been trying to get things ready for Lila's 2nd birthday this weekend. Whew! Hopefully things will get back to running a bit more smoothly around here soon!! Look for lots of birthday posts to come!! :)

Happy New Years!

Lila and I have been in Madison since Christmas Eve, and we've had a good time--I always enjoy being home. I needed the rest in the worst kind of way, and we got to hang out with some of our favorite people and a few of our favorite canines. Wednesday, however, my dad and Lila got sick, then my mom got sick, and things kinda went downhill after that. So, with that said, this is how the Braswell house spent New Years -- in their pajamas, being lazy. ImageCasey, Lila, and I ventured out to Applebee's about 5:30 for some good ol' New Year's dinner, so I finally got dressed about 4. Don't think I've ever spent a New Year's so lazily.

I do get to have my little family together today though which is nice. We've missed Josh during our visit. Bless his bones, he had to drive BACK up here to pick us up because Mama and Daddy are too sick to carry us back as planned.
ImageI am looking forward to a great 2011. We've got a lot in store for us--Lila turns 2, moving her to a big girl room, potty training, having a new baby (just to name a few things)--and I'm excited to see how it all goes. I hope that everyone has had a spectacular first day of the new year and that your 2011 is especially blessed!
Happy New Year!!
