Clare's 3 Year Update

Image
Clare Anne at 3 = one hot mess!!
This child has such personality ...  I often say that I don't know how she belongs to me!
Here is a quick update of Clare at 3:
1. Some adjectives to describe her would be: smart, sassy, silly, hilarious, hard-headed, loving, polite, grumpy. It's kind of hard to believe that you could put such a list together to describe one little person, but those certainly describe her! She can go from grumpy to happy in a matter of seconds, and she can go from sweet and polite (especially when saying "thank you") to grunting and stomping her feet faster. She can definitely pile on the charm too -- especially when she's trying to get her way. She'll look at  you and bat her eyes, and say "Please ... just one more teeny, tiny time" or "Just 22 (or some other random number) more minutes and then I'll get out!"
2. I could listen to the child talk all.day.long. I love her little voice (when it's happy, of course). I don't  know if  it's possible to write out how she says her "r" sound, but it's very drawn out and southern sounding ... for some words it's almost like almost like a "w" sound. Words like "water" and "sister" come out "wa-tuh" and "sis-tuh." She has funny phrases too -- her favorites right now are "Oh Phooey" and "That was awesome!"
3. She loves princesses, Disney Junior, and she's recently gotten into My Little Pony. She enjoys all of these shows and playing with toys that have to do with them. She has an awesome imagination -- she could play pretend with Lila all day long. I love to hear their playtime.
4. Her best friends are Hannah and Aubrey, but I'd say Lila is her very best friend. She loves that girl -- every once in awhile, she'll proudly look at her and say "that's my big sistuh!" They play extremely well together--Lila is pretty patient with her and tries to teach and help her with whatever she needs. That's not to say that they don't know how to bug each other, but I love their little friendship.
5. Her favorite foods are apple cinnamon oatmeal and chocolate milk.
6. I'm pretty sure her favorite place to be is home -- she's quite a homebody. She's also a HORRIBLE shopper.
7. She's become opinionated about her clothes recently, and definitely has more to say about clothes I pick out. Honestly, she'd rather wear pajamas all day, every day.
8. She's still at Sissy's house during the school year, and has learned so much in the last year. She knows a lot of her letters, can write her name, knows her full name, Lila's full name, and both mine and Josh's names. She also knows her numbers to about 16, and her shapes and colors.
9. She's pretty high maintenance about going to sleep -- mostly it's called procrastination. I still rock her to sleep most nights. Every once in awhile she'll sneak in Lila's room and sleep with her. Sometimes she sweet talks Josh into laying on the floor by her bed till she falls asleep. She has a particular blanket that she sleeps with and still has Rosie and Caki, but she's not as attached to them as say Lila is to her bunny.
10. She loves to wear a tu-tu and perform songs and dances. She makes up her own songs a lot of the time, but she also loves to perform "Let it Go" from Frozen
11. She had a weight check at the doctor the other day and she weighed 30 pounds.

This girl has my heart and most everyone else's too! I constantly have people tell me "That Clare sure does crack me up!" She is our mess, and we love her like crazy! Happy Year #3, Clare!

Clare's Monkey Birthday!

In honor of our little monkey, we celebrated at the Monkey Park this morning with a monkey party. It was one of the best and easiest parties that we've had. Clare loved it and all the kids had a great time it seemed.

So crazy, but apparently Clare is a bit bashful!! She did not enjoy everyone singing and looking at her while we sang "Happy Birthday." I guess all of the attention embarrassed her!

We didn't plan on it, but it worked out that the train ran, and all the kids got to ride. Very neat!

Clare Turns 3!!

Clare Anne is 3! How on earth did that happen?! Time has certainly flown since that sweet little child was born. We have celebrated for the last two days, and boy, we are sure worn out. Enjoy some pictures from Clare's big day yesterday!
I didn't think I was going to get this smile yesterday morning...she definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and stayed pretty cranky off and on the rest of the day. I think a week of VBS and running errands caught up to her, and she was tired. She finally decided she was ready to celebrate, and we thankfully moved on to the fun stuff.

We waited on Josh, Grammy, Papa, and Casey to get home before we opened presents. Clare had another grumpy spell trying to wake up from her nap, but once she tore into that first present, she was just fine after that!
