One Week Old

Image
This sweet girl was one week old yesterday. It has definitely been a fast week. There's a lot to learn to adjust to with three -- trying to get Lila and Clare up and ready for school still, giving time and attention to all like they deserve -- just to name a few. Thankfully, I haven't had to do any of this by myself yet! She's a great eater -- every 3 hours for sure and sometimes 2. She does well at night, and so far, I've been able to get a little sleep each night. She does have a really fussy time between 9ish to 11ish, but she'll generally calm down after that passes. I'm thinking it's an upset tummy? She's an absolute doll, and I'm just totally in love with her.

Ivey's First Bath

Ivey's first bath was a family affair to say the least. That bathroom was chaotic and loud! To say that Ivey does not enjoy being messed with is an understatement. She carries on if she has her diaper changed or her clothes changed, and I did not anticipate bath time being any different. She did not like it. The big girls thought it was hilarious that she was carrying on like she was, and I was just ready to get her dressed and calmed down!

We got to her room, and she was still just a hollerin'. Clare started singing her own rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle," and Ivey really liked it. She stopped crying and just watched Clare as intently as she could. It was pretty amazing, and it made Clare feel like such a helpful big sister.

Welcoming Ivey

We welcomed Ivey Frances on Saturday morning, April 18. I was scheduled to be induced because of my mildly high blood pressure, and we arrived at the hospital at 7;00 that morning. My labor was fast and furious -- whatever tools they used to induce worked and worked fast. My epidural barely had time to work, and honestly, I felt every single contraction. I went from about 2.5 cm dilated to 7 in about an hour and a half, and then went from 7 to 10 in about 10 minutes. Things have gone pretty well -- we've been home since yesterday. We are certainly working on adjusting to having 3 little girls in this house, but we have had great help and support. Ask me in a month how frazzled I feel!! Here are some pictures from this past weekend. We certainly feel blessed!

Preparing for Ivey Frances

I wanted to post some pictures of Ivey's room. We had decided that when we put Lila and Clare together that we would move them into Clare's room. The furniture in Lila's room belonged to my grandparents, and I did not want to store it. So...the girls' kept the dresser and chest that had always been with the nursery, and we had the crib repainted and moved into the room with the big furniture. It wasn't as tight of a fit as I thought it might be -- we had to switch the layout around from what I originally thought, but it all worked out and I am so happy with how it looks!!

Funny story about the pictures -- I'm reusing the frame from when it was in Clare's room, so those are pictures of Clare. After I hung it, Clare was with me in the room and said "Mama, when did you get pictures of Ivey?!" I just had to laugh -- such a silly girl.

And here I am ... 38 weeks and 4 days. I saw the doctor last Thursday, and I've definitely made some progress. I've had quite a few contractions on and off for the last week and a half or so. Sleep is super hard to come by, and I've been battling some serious allergy and sinus issues. I've managed to work up to this point, and I'm hoping to make it through the next week. Right now, I am questioning that! The doctor gave us the option of inducing Saturday, April 18 if she has not made her appearance by then. Josh and I decided that we would take that option. So we are definitely planning on meeting our third little daughter in the next week, and we couldn't be more excited!
