Ivey is 5 Months old!!

Ivey Frances is 5 months old today! She is such a sweet and good little baby girl. She adds such joy to our little family, and we are blessed by her daily. She's definitely my chunkiest little one, and has the most kissable cheeks and rolls ever!

Some things about Miss Ivey this month:
1. Like I said, she doesn't miss a meal! Check out those rolls and double chin! She still takes 5 bottles a day -- it equals out to 27 ounces a day. Two of her bottles have rice cereal to try and help with the amount of spit-up she has, but I honestly don't think it helps much. She doesn't totally dig on food yet -- I've tried to spoon feed her some different types of things, but so far she's not too interested. This past week, I gave it a break, so we will see how she does when I introduce it again. She recognizes her bottles now and reaches for them and tries to hold them. Usually she gets back when she realizes that she's done with a bottle ... I guess she wants more!

2. She constantly keeps her hands in her mouth chewing or sucking on her fingers. She's recently also found her feet and loves to looks and grab at her toes.

3. She's gotten to where she plays so much better laying on the floor, She grabs and reaches for toys. She looks and teeths on them. She's tried her bouncy seat out a time or too, but tires easily and doesn't end up staying long. She's gotten better at her exersaucer thing -- she stays in that pretty well these days. I'm afraid she's starting to outgrow her little seat -- she doesn't seem to be too interested in that these days.

4. Thankfully she's sleeping better at night than she was at 4 months old. I really think that rolling over was messing her up. She sleeps mainly on her tummy now. She goes to bed about 8, and I usually wake her up around 6. She sleeps in her bed, but I have been known to put her in bed with me should the need arise. Sleep is key -- you do what you gotta do! Our nighttime routine is a bath, then her bottle, and then she lays down. If she does wake up in the middle of the night, she's really good about soothing herself and going back to bed. She has a lovie that she likes and uses to comfort with at night.
5. She is so easy to get a smile from and I *think* she likes to give me kisses. They're pretty slobbery, but very sweet! She likes to be held and cuddled, and she adores Lila and Clare. They do and are so helpful with her. Our biggest trouble is Clare touch and squeezing on her. She has so much love to give!
Ivey is such a doll-baby, and the perfect answer to our prayers! We love you, Ivey Frances!!

My Soccer Girl

Lila started soccer this past week, and Josh is her coach. Clare, Ivey, and I tagged along Thursday night to watch, and I thought it was great. They played a scrimmage (which didn't end up so great), but I liked watching Lila and  Josh out on the field doing this sport together. Here's to a great season for Team Chastain!

A Visit to Campus

We headed to campus today just to walk around and see what was going on. I always enjoy doing this with my girls, and I really like it when Casey is with us. This year, Grammy came along too! Looking forward to a few more football outings this fall! War Eagle!

First Cereal

Ivey tried rice cereal with a spoon for the first time the other night. Not too sure that she was a fan of it ... she pretty much shuddered every time she got a bite. Hopefully she'll develop a taste for it soon. She's tried peas too, but those didn't go over any better. Here's to trying new and different foods over the next few weeks!

Clare and Ivey Head to the Doc

Image
Image
These two ladybugs had visits to the doctor today for a well-check. This was Clare's 4 year check and Ivey's 4 month check. Clare weighed 35 lbs. and was 39.5 inches tall. Ivey weighed in at 14.14 lbs. and was 24 inches long. So far, she's slightly heavier and a little shorter than the other two girls were. Our biggest concern with Ivey was the amount she spits up. She seems to be a happy spitter, and we are hoping that she outgrows it soon. She's had some rice cereal in a couple of bottles for the past week, and tried rice cereal with a spoon for the first time last night. We tried a little bit of peas tonight, but she wasn't too impressed.
These two girls (along with their big sister) have my heart, and I was so proud of how well they did today. Clare especially acted like such a big girl. Love them to the moon!

Clare has glasses...

Image
and a lot of attitude to go with them!
Image
I took Clare to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago to have her eyes checked. She's always been a squinter, particularly with her left eye. I had an appointment in July, and I asked the doctor about bringing her in after she wasn't able to read some of the smaller letters (and she knows her letters). The doctor recommended it, so we went in. I was so worried and really didn't want her to have to learn how to keep these things on her face -- not to mention how to not lose them or break them. Turned out that she did need glasses...on top of being a little far-sighted (I believe), her left eye is week and turned in a little. The glasses are to correct that, and we go back in February to see if there's been progress. She looks absolutely adorable in them, and she's done great about keeping them on her face. I know they have to be irritating, but she's been a real sport about it. Hopefully, she's getting used to them. Welcome to the Glasses Club, Clare!

Student of the Month

Image
Beyond proud of my big girl! She has had the best start to 1st grade, and I am so thankful. Her grades are looking great, and her behavior has been great too. She got to be her class' first Student of the Month, and she was pumped. So thankful for her love of learning and being at school. She's such a blessing to us.

Ivey Lately...

Here are some sweet pictures of my little Ivey from the last few weeks. She's growing so fast, and it such a happy and loving baby. We are enjoying her oh so much!!

We went to Rosie's dedication a few weeks ago, and the two of them had such a great time rolling around and playing with each other. They were pretty cute!
