Max (3) Zach (1)

John's talented cousin took some pictures of the boys and here is how they turned out. These photos really capture how much fun these two are right now. We love them and they adore each other.Image

Happy Valentine's Day

Image
John has often gotten balloons for my birthday or other occasions because Max loves them. Max would play with them for weeks. This balloon lasted all of 2 hours before Zach popped it. Looks like this tradition may die with Zach.

He really tries to cheese for the camera.Image
We spotted Mater on the side of the road the other day near Portland. Max was in heaven!!
ImagePlaying in the "big backyard" as Max calls it a few weekends ago.

ImageTo document our attempt at roller skating with Garrett's fam and Grandma B. Sorry random kid in our pic. Zach loved the music and Max struggled to say the least. John and I both got more of a work out than we had planned.

Sister's Recipe Swap: Holiday Favorites

For our Sister's Recipe Swap this month I thought it would be fun to post a holiday favorite. This is an Adair favorite that I have shared with my family and I think it may be a Barnum favorite now. Who can go wrong with a whip cream "salad" right? We have to credit Grandma Maxine Adair for this great holiday favorite.

Cranberry Salad

1 bag fresh cranberries
1-2 cups sugar
2 med oranges
1 pint whip cream

Sort through fresh cranberries discarding bad ones. Put in food processor with 2 peeled oranges. Pulse until finely ground. Add sugar and let sit in fridge overnight or so. Right before serving, drain cranberry mixture through strainer. Prepare whip cream and sweeten lightly. Fold cranberry mixture into whip cream.

*Grandma always prepares lots of the cranberry mixture(relish as she calls it) at one time during the holidays. Then you can prepare the whip cream as you are about to eat it. Otherwise the whip cream will become runny over time. You can really adjust the sweetness and whip cream to relish ratio to your taste.

ENJOY! Ok, Kricket, April and Johanna let's see those holiday favs.

Happy Birthday to John!!!

For John's birthday we gave him some framed photos of the boys and the family to put up in his office.
ImageJune 24, 2011

I can't believe we have been here in Hermiston over a year. Probably the biggest year for change thus far in our lives. Move, start a real job, have a baby, buy a house. I feel like a grown up:)
Here is our house, not an amazing picture.
Image
It is 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, about 2400 sq. ft., nice fenced yard with a garden and some small trees(one which had tons of peaches this year), in an amazing neighborhood with young families everywhere. We would love visitors!!
Now for the annual pumpkin patch photos. We love Bellinger Farms in Hermiston.

Then and now

Image

Our good friend Shannon took this picture of Max right around his first birthday.
ImageNow at 2 1/2 he has finally grown some hair. At 38" he is set to be 6' 4", we'll see:) Someday we'll catch that cute smile in a professional photo. He was all smiles for me earlier in the day.

The real old update

April 5, 2011-All the Barnum grandkids together in one photo shoot. Yes, it was crazy. You might spot some of our bribery in
ImageAnd one they snapped of my two boys. Max is just under 2 years old and Zach was just over 2 months.
ImageApril 17, 2011-Max's 2nd Birthday!!! We celebrated in Rexburg with Grandma and Grandpa Adair, Grandma Maxine and Grandpa Bert.
ImageGrandpa Bert passed away this summer so we're so glad we were able to make this trip.

ImageIn the same trip to Rexburg John and I went snowboarding and I about died of exhaustion:) The boys helped put the snowmobiles away for the season and Max wasn't too sure about the noise.
Image
On the way home we stayed in Boise for the weekend with Skye and Becca. Brandon celebrated his birthday that morning with us at Krispy Kreme. The boys loved watching the doughnuts.
ImageWe took Max swimming at the YMCA in Boise and he had a blast!
