Sick Babies

Lucy was diagnosed with the flu one week ago today.  She is now much better, but the babies then got sick on Sunday.  I knew having twins would have trying times, but I never thought about how hard it would be when they were both sick at the same time.  Lets just say Joey and I did not get much sleep Sunday, Monday or Tuesday night.  Wednesday was better and I am hoping tonight will be back to normal.  June has an ear infection as well so she has had it pretty bad and has not had an appetite.

They are three and a half months old and getting big.  They probably weigh somewhere between 10 and 11 pounds.  They are smiling and making noises.  It is fun - most days!

Life with Lucy

Thank you Lucy for the bear that is bigger than me.

Please note the thin spot on top of Norah's head on the next two pictures  This is evidence that Lucy did in fact give Norah her first haircut!

Drew and Kellie Dell

Kellie has been a good friend for many years and has been a babysitter for the girls.  We love Kellie and Drew and had the honor of being at the wedding.  This was the girls third wedding since September - I am going to start charging for their services!  Kellie made the girls tutus and her wedding cake.  She is an over achiever to say the least.  We will miss having Kellie and Drew around, but are so excited for them.

So this update is long over due.....

It appears that the last time I updated the blog was on November 7th.  I guess a lot has happened since then.  Sorry that my time is limited...5 kids and a full time job seem to be keeping me busy. HA!  Speaking of that...one is crying right now.  So, this may not be the update I wanted but you will get some pictures anyway.
Our favorite twins holding our other favorite twins!  Katie and Kelcey are my lifesavers/babysitters/sanity keepers and they are gone overseas this semester and I miss them a lot and so do the kids! (I know Joey does as well -they are like family to us!)

Back to the hospital

On Friday the babies had a follow up with the pediatrician.  I had a concern because Norah had not pooped in over 24 hrs.  So the nurse said that she would help Norah out and took her temp rectally.  Upon doing this she noticed that her body temp was only 96.  She would not have noticed this except for the fact that Norah had not pooped because the first temp she took was normal.  So I am thankful that she noticed.  Also, both girls had continued to loose weight.  We were then admitted to the hospital straight from the doctor's office.  This was not a fun adventure for me, but we are doing okay now.  I am staying up here with them and feeding them and my mom and Joey take turns staying with me to help.  They are out from under the light and now out of the incubator.  We are hoping to go home tomorrow, but we will see.  Here are some pictures from this adventure.

Norah Louise Myers  5lbs 11oz  19 inches

Well, I have officially been pregnant for the last time.  ( I hope)  I am pretty sure that 5 kids will be plenty for me to care for.  I love being pregnant (until the end) and love my babies, but I am done.  Thankfully we had a great labor and delivery.

I went into labor on Sunday night, October 31st.  At midnight the contractions started to be harder and more consistent.  At 12:37 I woke Joey up and told him that I thought it was time to go to the hospital.  We got to the hospital a little after 1, after calling Cindy to come and watch the kids.  Upon arriving at the hospital, I was checked and was at a 5.  I was admitted to a room and labored until about 4:45.  At 4:45 the doctor came up and broke my water.  At that point I was at an 8.  At 5:05 Norah arrived.  June remained breech and the dr. tried to turn her, but with no success.  So, he reached in and found her feet, broke my water and I push - he pulled and June arrived at 5:16.  I could not have gone any better.  I had no medication at all and it was a wonderful experience.  I am thankful that God answered my prayers about the labor and delivery.
