Faith Academy Homecoming

Tonight we went to a local private school's homecoming. Two of the girls in our youth group were homecoming princesses. These girls are very special to Bailey so we had to go see them in their princess dresses. She was very excited to see them but played shy when we took pictures.

Campbell slept through the first part of the game - six man football!

Mmm...Mmm...Good

Campbell had his first taste of rice cereal tonight! At first he didn't know what to do with the spoon in his mouth, but after a few bites he decided he liked it. In fact, if I didn't get the cereal into his mouth fast enough he let me know how he felt about it! It appears that Campbell will follow in his sister's footsteps in being a good eater.

Yum-Yum!

Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids to get their picture taken. It was kind of a disaster. The three year old didn't want to cooperate and the three month old decided he was hungry and grumpy. We did get a few good ones, but none of them together and no full lengths of Campbell. Maybe next time. We did walk away with the CD so I'm able to put them on the blog for your enjoyment without breaking the law!

After Ike

After the hurricane, our good friends The Coles were without power so they spent a couple of days with us. The kids had a great time playing together, the dads got to watch football, and the moms got to visit. We're so glad they came to seek relief at our house!

New Posts

Being kept inside by Hurricane Ike has allowed me to catch up on my blogging.  Check out these posts:

Homework

Bailey had her first family project for school this week!  She was to create a family collage poster to share with her class.  Ms. Vee gave us a bright pink poster board and we got to work.  Bailey and I went to CVS and she chose the pictures she wanted to include on her poster.  When we got home I got my scrapbooking stuff out and Bailey chose what paper she wanted to use.  By this point, Momma was doing most of the work.  Bailey used the scissors and cut the scraps of pictures that I had already cut.  All the while, she was telling me that we don't run with scissors.  I guess she's learning something at school!  Bailey and I were both proud of our work.  She took her poster to school excited to tell her teachers and her friends about her family.

4 months

Image
Campbell is four months old today!  Yesterday, in the midst of the hurricane frenzy, we took him to the doctor for his four month check up.  I called the doctor's office THREE times to make sure they'd still be open.  When we got there, we learned that they would be closed on Friday so they rescheduled a lot of those patients for Thursday (the day we were there.)  We always have to wait quite a while anyway, but with an added number of patients, it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r.  After we finally saw the doctor we had to wait again for the nurse to come give him his shots.  When the nurse arrived, she informed us that she could only give him two of the four immunizations he needed, and we'd have to come back next week to get the other two because they had sent them to the hospital in preparation of Hurricane Ike.  Are you kidding me????  We chose to not give him any of the shots since we'd have to come back next week anyway.  I politely told the nurse that I understood that they have to send the immunizations to the hospital, but did not understand why they didn't take into account the patients (and the shots they would need) that were on the schedule.  I also let her know that I had called their office three times to make sure they were open and wouldn't have come if I knew we'd have to come back.  Needless to say, we were NOT happy.  This isn't the first time (or second, or third) that we have been dissatisfied with this practice so we'll be finding a new doctor soon.

On to the stats:
Height - 27 1/2 inches (97+%)
Weight - 16 pounds, 1 ounce (75%)

Campbell,
You are such a joy to your momma's heart.  You are getting so big and growing so fast.  We think you are beginning to teethe.  You constantly have your entire fist in your mouth and you are drooling buckets!  Daddy and I have decided that even though you look just like him, you act more like your momma.  Laid-back.  You are an easy-going boy.  The only time you cry is when you let us know it's time to eat, time to sleep, or if those silly gums are bothering you.  You are beginning to play with toys more - you like to hold something in each of your hands.  Bailey has been a big help when it comes to getting toys for you.  She was gone for a few days this month.  Even though it was nice and quiet without her, I really think you were starting to miss her!    Other accomplishments in your third month were getting your first haircut and sitting in your Bumbo seat more often!  We're looking forward to month four.  I love you little man.

What about IKE?

Having only lived here for a little more than a year, this whole hurricane thing is new to us.  I went to school yesterday asking if I should be worried about Ike!  I was assured that it would be safe for us to stay home, but we did need to get gas and groceries.  I had a meeting during my conference period so a good friend at school took my car and waited behind EIGHT cars to get gas for me.  Thank you Rachel!  Judd went to the grocery store and stocked up on food and water.

School was canceled for today so we're sitting at home waiting to see what Ike is going to do.  We're expecting some pretty high winds so we moved our patio furniture, grill, Bailey's sandbox and slide to the garage.  We'll obviously get quite a bit of rain but it shouldn't flood.  For now we're just glued to the TV watching the continuous coverage of the storm and praying that everyone in the path of Ike stays safe.

Because every single room in our house has at least one window (including the bathrooms), we set up the hallway with blankets and necessities - ice chest with water, snacks, diaper bag, pack-n-play, flashlights, and cell phones - just in case the high winds broke some windows or if tornados formed. We planned on using Bailey's mattress to cover the opening into the hallway if needed.

UPDATE: Thankfully, Ike has come and gone without doing ANY damage to our house, trees, or fence. We also never lost power! We're praying for those in Galveston and Houston who were affected by the hurricane.
